Aspiring Rapper Tweets 'YOLO' About Driving Drunk And Dies Minutes Later

I don't know why everyone's like "darwin" or "idiot". I think it's sad when anyone dies(usually). I bet most on here have at some point driven way too fucked up, but got lucky(or can just drive fucked up).

And what does Darwin have to do with the passengers deaths?

I may be going a little off topic here, however (speaking of Darwin)...

The Darwin Awards are a tongue-in-cheek honor, originating in Usenet newsgroup discussions circa 1985. They recognize individuals who have contributed to human evolution by self-selecting themselves out of the gene pool through putting themselves (unnecessarily) in life-threatening situations. The project became more formalized with the creation of a website in 1993, and followed up by a series of books starting in 2000, authored by Wendy Northcutt. The criterion for the awards states, "In the spirit of Charles Darwin, the Darwin Awards commemorate individuals who protect our gene pool by making the ultimate sacrifice of their own lives.

Darwin Award winners eliminate themselves in an extraordinarily idiotic manner, thereby improving our species' chances of long-term survival.

Accidental self-sterilization also qualifies; however, the site notes: "Of necessity, the award is usually bestowed posthumously." But the candidate is disqualified if "innocent bystanders", who might have contributed positively to the gene pool, are killed in the process.

The Darwin Awards books state that an attempt is made to disallow known urban legends from the awards, but some older "winners" have been 'grandfathered' to keep their awards. The Darwin Awards site does try to verify all submitted stories, but many similar sites, and the vast number of circulating "Darwin awards" emails, are largely fictional.

I would have to agree with you, with some exceptions.

Being a big proponent of Harm Reduction, seeing a new thread started on BL about a member who OD'd and didn't make it is saddening.

There is one exception I can think of though. I recall reading an IRC chat log about some 16 year old who was dicksizing about the fact methadone and clonazepam don't affect him. To prove his point, he proceeded to drink 350mg of methadone and also ingested - from what I remember - 10mg of clonazepam. It was sad afterwards to see him struggling big time, trying to continue chatting with everyone on IRC. At the same time however, I'm sorry, but that was a very stupid thing to do. His last words were, "hol shitttt55555556."

darwinian selection hard at work

Lmao but kids type like that now.... ugh

That's just stupid.

Funny too.

But stupid

what a dumbass. darwinian selection hard at work indeed

Darwinian selection? What the fuck are you all talking about. Four other people died in this crash, and it could easily have been many more than that if it had involved other road users or pedestrians.

How the fuck is this ever funny? Just reading the general attitudes of some people here on bluelight makes me want to vomit my guts up.

Don't drank and drive kids. Or as my dad used to say "You're dead for a long time" Not funny at all.

its sad and retarded because it could have been easily completely avoided, not funny

I can see where some people are coming from when they say that though

Definitely not funny that the driver who was asking for it ended up causing the deaths of the other 4 ppl in the car. Very sad indeed.

as far as darwinian, my mama tought me to never get in the car with a drunk driver. those people as far as i know were not forced into the car. it was there choice.
im not trying to take away from the fact that its all tragic and all life is equal. but when you get in a car with a drunk routy rapstar, what do you expect, specially one who lives on the YOLO attitude.

^How do you know the passengers knew the driver was drunk or what caused them to ride?
Despite McKinness' tweets, police reported that it was actually Watson who was behind the wheel, according to the San Bernardino County Sun. "They're certainly looking at that because it will be a vital part of the investigation, but it's too early to give an opinion as to whether it (drunken driving) was a cause or contributed to the crash," Ontario police Sgt. David McBride told the San Bernardino County Sun.
The driver might not have even been drunk or high for all we know, or at least that obviously fucked up.

From his video it seems he would have positively contributed to the gene pool, thus making the driver ineligible for a Darwin Award.

Was that that kid in Phoenix who said "I told you I'm hardcore?" I felt bad for him too. Many are under the mistaken impression that since methadone is used to treat addiction it must be weak. It can take up to 8 hours to peak, clonazepam 2 hours, making some think they're not working and take more. Someone getting 200mg is not unheard of, might have heard this and though it applied to him too. Also I suspect he was mentally ill, with dumbasses egging him on. Still darwinism at work but tragic nonetheless. I was think more along the lines of Hitler, or Andrew Breitbart(oh no he didn't!:P).

"You only live once" cuts both ways.

Yes, that is exactly whom I write of. I remember him saying "told you I'm hardcore" as well. And you're right; from the chat log, everyone - except for one or two ppl from what I recall - were egging him on. So sad. Correct me if I'm wrong but one of the guys trying to get him to stop was also desperately trying to figure out where the kid lived, so as to contact - I guess - Phoenix PD/EMTs; and he was reportedly successful in somehow figuring out what city the kid lived in, however, by the time the cops/emt's were at the scene, kid was already deceased for 30-45min. His mom was apparently right outside his room the entire time but she had the TV (or something) on and didn't hear a thing.

Speaking of high methadone dosages (not that I'm proud of it), but I was on 250mg for a year as well as .5mg of Xanax TID and even after a year on that amount of methadone and Xanax (ingested by a 6'5" 250lb 30 year old male no less), I was still struggling at times to not nod off. I can only imagine what the kid felt after the amounts of 'done and K-pins he swallowed.

Not much sympathy here. Driving at 120, riding with a yahoo drinking, texting, putting everybody else on the highways life at risk, fuck em. At least no one else, peripherally involved, died.

I am not even sad for that idiot, but seriously people,he died with FOUR people!!! we dont know shit about them!!

one idiot dead thats fun I admit it but, four people died... I mean how much value have human life x 4? ( I dont count MR Yolo)

Has anyone actually read the article?

It wasn't the rapper driving, it's not known if the driver was intoxicated. Could be a freak accident for all we know(unlike, but possible).

About the only thing I agree with.

Here's the thing: they were driving 120 on city streets and drifting while drinking and bragging about it on twitter. If they had accidentally hit a pedestrian nobody would be expressing pity for them. So why is pity contingent on whether or not somebody happened to be in their path?

Too many pedestrians getting killed every day because of little badasses with heavy feet.

IME it's those fucks who speed up when you're crossing the street or seemingly intentionally trying to cause an accident for insurance that's the problem, not so much racing and shit.

I honestly feel that driving around a bunch of drunks is so distracting that it's harder to drive than on drugs and alcohol.

This made me think of a documentary about that drunk and high lady, with a car full of kids, driving on the wrong side of the freeway and kill both everyone in her car and a car full of innocent men. Everyone was taking shit about her afterward, really hurt the relatives. Supposedly wasn't an alcoholic or regular drug user, just made one bad choice one day. It was sad seeing her body, beaten up, with her face frozen in the last moments of life.

MADD's got everyone treating alcoholics like pedophiles.

Tough to tell. The racers are all pulling hits and run now. Probably rapping about it too.
