APPLES and how about them. (Theyre the shit!) Wats ur favorite variety(s) of apple?

I'll join in the lovefest for Pink Lady apples. I'm also a fan of red and golden delicious. Every once in a while I like some of the more tart ones. Wisconsin has tons and tons and tons of homegrown apples, so you can get good non-mass-produced ones at almost any decent grocery store. It's the cider time of year right now, mmmmmmm.......

one apple that I really fuckin hate tho is Winesap apples. i was unfortunate enough to try some of them a few weeks ago. Bleah. Fuckin disgusting, yo. the texture is gross as hell, its super grainy and coarse but the apple itself is mad soft and just mushes and falls apart when you try to cut it, and it has no flavor except that weird tartness. It taste like red wine or somethin. Gross-ass apples. my aunt that i never see who dont fit in our family at all and is like some kinda alien of our family, she did some of that apple pickin crap and got a bunch of those winesap apples and then for some god awful reason thought it woul be a good idea to dump her extras on us. Oh, that was so nice of you, except those apples SUCK and they are disgusting and none of us likes to eat them! Keep that shit to yourself, dont just use us to get rid of the extras cuz you got too many! :X

Anyways, I jus wanted to talk about how much i hate those winesap apples, Im done now. :)

Also, I just made a bangin pie. I used Rome apples, granny smith, and Cameo all cut up and mixed together. I m waitin for it to cool off right now but Ill let yall know and report back on how it came out with laceys custom blend...And if i gotta make any adjustments of adding or takin away one or the other, etc ill post that too, Im practicing for thanksgiving. Dutch apple pie FTW yall.

lol i always love apples, but yeah when i was pregnant it was insanity.

I of course love apples alone, i make peanut butter and apple sandwiches for my daughter sometimes, but i really love to put them on my salad! I made a pinapple apple pie the other day that was sooo good!

my husband will only eat Fuji apples so thats what we get, unfortunately apples is one of the few things that doesnt grow wild here. :\

The unnameable practically extinct species that are in unkept orchards and apple trees all over England, long forgotten about. Taste so much nicer than the apples available in supermarkets. The worst being the overly shiny red apples that have skin that taste like wax and flesh that tastes of....nothing

Interesting site on the matter:

(Off topic but on the subject of fruit, has anyone ever tried Sugarloaf Pineapple? Absolutely amazing! tastes like regular pineapple but much juicier and not at all acidic... sooo good. Only problem being I only ever find them in Waitrose, which for me, is a trek to get to :p

I just discovered Jazz apples this year. Had never seen 'em b4. They're very crunchy and the sweetest apple I ever tasted!

Pink Lady apples are amazing. They are tart, crunchy, and sweet all at the same time. I looove them. But lately I haven't been able to get any because the past few times I've bought them at the grocery store they were like mushy and rotten inside :( I think I need to go to a nicer grocery store to get them or something.

Oh and baked apple desserts are my absolute fave. I would seriously eat that over anything else, hands down. Like just bake an apple with cinnamon on it, yum.

At the moment I'm all about the Fuji & Sundowner varieties :) I like my apples tart, firm and not too sweet. Note, I hate it when supermarkets store apples for too long at very low temperatures & then sell them out of season at high prices; they look fine on the outside but are either floury or over-ripe & taste off and slightly alcoholic. :p fcukers!

gala apples are the best pick em up at tesco they make u shit nicely in the morning ;)

i enjoy a golden delicious every now and then

they just kinda melt in your mouth and have a pretty nice taste imo

my pie came out bangin!! Rome, granny smith and cameo is my new pie blend , it made the best pie i ever tried if im allowed to say that about my own pie :D

anyways, Ima answer my own question now.

Haha, I love readin' your posts immensely. Just thought I'd mention it. :D <3

Personally, my favourite is the jazz apple. :)

Jazz is a relatively new apple variety from New Zealand, and is the result of a cross between Royal Gala and Braeburn. It is also known as Scifresh. It was launched in April 2004.

The apple is sweet, crunchy and juicy. It has a firm, dense flesh and a complex flavor with the acid of Braeburn and the sweetness of Royal Gala giving it broad appeal.

The speculation about why the apple variety is named Jazz, is most likely the exciting color combinations that can be compared to the music style jazz which is often an advanced harmony with discoloration of a piecework.

Jazz apples are being grown under license in New Zealand, UK, Washington state in the US, Australia, France, Chile, Italy, Switzerland and Austria.

I like them the tarter the better - Granny Smith, hands down.

I have NEVER had a Pink Lady apple, and I live (sort of) in apple country! I will have to remedy this immediately. :)

I love apples. They're amazing with Brie, blue cheese, or peanut butter (almost the only way I will eat peanut butter).
