Any of you BL'ers TAN? if so, does it improve your mood/confidence?

I'm pretty dark but love to tan (got to keep that dark chocolate coloured skin even man!). Don't need to stay out long to see results as I tan pretty easy. I will probably get skin cancer as I'm in Sydney. But check the tan out man!

I've been tanning everyday during mid-day hours for a couple hours per day, just laying there next to a lake on this hill watching the geese and of course the occasional cute girl jog by :D

I've noticed since I started tanning my mood as improved and I'm more confident. Does the sun raise serotonin levels? I think I read somewhere that it does.

How many of you TAN?

I do tan every now and then. No it does not improve my mood or confidence.

I have some moles on me that don't need too much sun, and I want my skin looking young for as long as possible. So no, Bob Loblaw does not tan.

Sunlight stimulates your appetite and improves your digestion, elimination, and metabolism. Getting your daily dose of sunshine will enhance your immune system and encourages healthy circulation.

i don't go out for a tan, but this summer i got more sun than ever before as a result of wearing singlets or running without a shirt on or going for a swim. i have lots of moles and am a bit paranoid about them. they were checked before summer and were fine. once it cools down, i'll go again.

i have a little colour and it really is nice. doesn't affect mood or confidence in any way, however. it doesn't really mean anything.

wife bought me tanning oil, i think i've used it once.

I used to try tanning. But I'm Irish and very pale, so It does not work out for me.I learned how to embrace my beautiful pale skin. =D

I tan during the summers or whenever the weather allows it - but I definitely make conscious efforts to do so. I just think I look better tan. So yeah, in that sense it certainly improves my mood and self-confidence a little :)

I would if it wasn't so hot here in Perth in the Summer.. sometimes its still 30C at midnight.

Autumn is usually when i'll be out in the sun more often, but summer is like been on the surface of the sun, fuck it.

tanning over the last couple summers has converted me from a winter person -> summer person

after a good 45 mins sunbathing it puts me in a great mood

Yho I'm greek so ima bit tan all year round. An a few mins under the sun gets me pretty good. It really don't change my mood or nothin. Well actually I like tannin at the beach.

I am tan only during the months of June-September, like most Northern Hemisphere white people who live in non-tropical regions.

The sport I am most passionate about teaching requires me to be outdoors a good deal during those months, so although I start with a fake tan + SPF 30+ on top of that, I am always sporting a "real" tan by the end of summer. Dr Mercola, a health & fitness "guru" writes almost incessantly about the pros of sun, particularly vitamin D, which is more difficult to absorb via diet than sunshine. He also writes of the benefits to mood and sleep patterns when a person is exposed to an hour or two of sun a day.

That being said, there are three parts of my body my mother taught me to NEVER tan. I also wear SPF 30 on these parts of my body year-round.
1)My face, which is quite easily "fake-tanned" anyway, and is easily mostly covered by a hat with a brim. In my case, always a visor.
2)My neck, which could be considered an extension of the face, but I'm listing separately because HAVE YOU EVER MET SOMEONE WHO HAS GOTTEN A FACE-LIFT? Look at their neck!
3)My hands, because hand skin is the thinnest skin on the body besides the eye area. Also, hands are another dead giveaway to true age on "someone who's had work done."

I live in the pacific northwest where it rains 8-9 months out of the year, so tanning salons are not optional for me if I want to avoid cataclysmic depression.

I also take vitamin D year round, regardless if it's sunny or not.

The sun just changes everything. I feel like a normal person when it's out -- which is prob why I shouldn't live here for much longer!

I never really sun bathe from noon-2pm. My favorite tanning time is 4pm onward, when the sun is less harsh yet so delightfully warm.

I have very fair skin and am naturally a very light blonde, so I have to be careful. I can burn, but if I do it turns into a tan by the next day or so.

I don't go out into the sun for the express purpose of tanning, but I live at the beach and my summer days are spent pretty much outside all day almost every day. I always use SPF 45 and reapply...I have not gotten a burn in a long time.

I love getting a tan, though, but I don't work at it or anything. This thread is making me excited that summer is just about here again... It was almost 90 degrees F here today....

I have always been a bit tanned my life and yes it def boosted up my confidence.. Summer time I am darker so I love summer time I only need a few hours under the sun and boo yah tan tan tan! :)
