Misc Anxiety

i don't think most people who are prescribed benzos for severe insomnia or anxiety even realize they are slowly abusing their meds and becoming very physically and mentally dependent on them. That's also why i think a lot of doctors prescribe benzo's last now, behind a bunch of depression meds because benzo's are only really meant for short term use, and sparingly, not under any schedule .

Just a quick suggestion that until your parents do get you an appointment it might at least help a little to try a low dose of Benadryl (Diphenhydramine) as it's available otc, and should help to some extent at the least. It also has a very benign side effect profile.

Be sure to keep us up to date on how you are doing, and all the best.

odd, i found that diphenhydramine will exacerbate anxiety, even in low, OTC doses (50mg)

Although this may be true, i think it would only have this effect for a short period of time before tolerance sets in. This lowering of anxiety is likely just to do with the drowsiness first generation antihistamines give to someone who don't use them often, but once you have to use 150mg+ even just to get tired, you begin to have terrible side effects that resemble that of a person going crazy lol. this is because DPH in high doses is a "deliriant".

Research cognitive behavioural therapy, it helped me get past my marijuana induced anxiety. I was at the point where i'd have random panic attacks that would leave me barely able to speak, but now i'm back to my regular pot smoking, pill huffing self haha. Benzos are great when you're in the midst of a bad panic attack but they can leave you with some dangerous withdrawals if used for everyday anxiety.

I have been sleeping nocturnally my insomnia has been that bad, @ mellowyellows thats a cool name , and I have researched it.

Speaking of my username, give cyclobenzaprine a try, knocks you right out and there is little potential for addiction.

Why benadryl?

Before I ever went to see a doctor for my anxiety I always just found 25mg to help my baseline anxiety somewhat. There aren't a ton of options when you are talking otc.

Others obviously feel differently, but I personally found the sedating effects went away after a while, but it continued to help my anxiety a small amount. Note also that I never increased the dose.

I was only tossing the idea around as it would be something immediate you could try, but perhaps I'm in the wrong...

I am stressing about this, Im not sure anything will help and what if I don't get a prescription I mean I IDK .Im just a kid. it makes me look like a pill seeker.

We can't offer you advice on what to say to your doctor. The best I can honestly tell you is to be honest about your symptoms. Honestly though, if you're looking to be rx'd benzos straight away, I just don't see that happening, and there are a lot of other good options other people have brought up that you seem totally in disregard of.

SsRis->other ad's->buspar->hydroxyzine-> benzos....

They all suck to me but benzos are are the best out of the list.

If your under 18, don't expect benzos..

I don't want benzo's I need some relief.

There gonna try ssri's first..i repute the motherfuckers. So i go back after playing their little games, tell em their SSRI miracle drug was pure SHIT!

Then comes Buspirone, Hydroxyzine, and last but not least Benzos...use at your own risk, if you take them everyday you will have some uncomfortable wd(insomnia, muscle pain, and depression, uncomfortable just wierd shit happens)
I now also repute benzos...i dont mind addiction if the positive effects of the drug are worth it but i feel like i swallowed a sugar pill with benzos...
and the only thing that REALLY works is opi8s and pot although sometimes pot makes it worse and no doctor prescribes narcotics(or pot in my state) for anxiety so good luck me..and you

Certain strains of cannabis can give you a new outlook, view everyday concerns differently, even give you an outgoing personality (w/o getting addicted) I think a lot of people get paranoid, because they have been told, and read that it will happen to them so many times...F'ing rediculous

all i read is that you're 16, it seems you think you want benzos, i ask you for your own interest reconsider. benzos are not the answer it is a filthy filthy circle, avoid yourself alot of future trouble, don't try benzos first line. Therapy may be a good alternative. it is the perfect treatment for a youngperson. I wish I did it when i was 16, and something else i can say, i had (have) alot of anxiety, i had it when i was 16 too, i tried cannabis for it, it is not the answer, i also tried benzos which are not a good option for young person, i tried ssri but dont work well for all you may have better luck, the crux of anxiety is not covering it up with drugs that when they wear off your anxiety is worse, the answer is to address the reason for your untolerable anxiety healthily. I might add that i thought anxiety was abnormal when it first began for me, but as i have come to realize it is a feature of humanity. good luck, and honestly the answer is not benzos, the answer is sober self-discovery, save yourself alot of hassle while you can. Try therapy, there are many types it all depends on what is available to you. best
edit, i just saw your above post about not wanting benzos and wanting relief. that is what i like to see, as long as you are willing you can overcome this. therapy may be the answer; if you can't do therapy (i couldn't for long time), literature is a great source of 'relief'! while this is an anxiety thread i don't see point in making it about literature, if you are interested you could either create a new thread about overcoming anxiety in the philosophy&spirituality section you might get good responses there, you could msg me if you can, if you are interested there are some very readable unintimidating books out there, a couple i can think of are more works of art, others are more clinical, what do u think would work; maybe post in P&S, either way you obviously have the interenet so you should be able to get somewhere, if you want authors or titles feel free to ask, but I don't want to make this thread about it

i used to have alot of anxiety and used opiates and benzos to self medicate. benzos are soo addictive be careful with them. i beat my benzo addiction somehow was the hardest thing i ever done. but i think i will go back to opiates. ashwagandha is a herb from india it is helpful for anxiety it works pretty good actually. remember your breath too if you can breath deep and control your breath it helps. best of luck to you!

I said no benzo's they do more harm then good, I just need something to relieve my panic attacks just last night I freaked out http://listverse.com/2009/07/03/10-more-mysteries-that-remain-unsolved/ looking at this site and
indridcold2-tm.jpg
saw this and locked ip for about 30 minutes sweating profusely and panicking.

Did you not read the thread the first time?

It's going to be the best way for you to overcome your anxiety once and for all. Medications (if absolutely necessary) are supposed to be used as tools, however you need to see a Psychologist and get some CBT for your anxiety.
