as far as drugs or supplements. i really really like l-tryptophan. serotonin increasers really helped me with my anxiety, and l-tryptophan produces a calm relaxed feeling that is hard to beat even with drugs.
as far as drugs, moclobemide i really like for instilling confidence well being, and also eliminating anxiety. luckily it's cheap and available and isnt addictive, and has virtually no negative side effects. moclobemide is one of my favorite drugs. http://www.biopsychiatry.com/moclobsocphob.htm. moclobemide increases energy and confidence by raising norepinephrine, which gives the feeling of being able to handle the situation, and it increases serotonin which gives a sense of well being and calmness, as well as a small amount of dopamine (not enough to tweak, but enough to cause increased desire to do things or socialize)
if stimulants help, i'd recommend selegiline or daytrana (sustainable stimulants). increased dopamine has been shown to help a lot in social phobia (see biopsychiatry.com)
a combination of dopaminergics such as daytrana , and l-tryptophan (serotonin) has recently solved all of my mental problems (mostly stemming from anxiety) and has proven to be the best combination for my anxiety that i have ever tried. Benzos i will note did not work very well for me.
Buspar is another solution. Benzo users will shit all over it, but i found it to be fairly calming, and not as seriously debilitating (benzos make me too mentally slow).
also look at gabapentin. it's really really cheap and incredibly safe, has no side effects, and has known to be calming in a way that is somewhat related to benzos but without a major tendency for addiction or dependency.
If a combo of gabapentin and dopaminergics didnt help, i dont know what would.
Try some of these and get back to us (ask your doctor)
