Am I about to have a heart attack?

My pulse can get into the 140s with amphetamine/methylphenidate.
Not really good, but its just anxiety.
I get panic attacks a lot, which is why I made myself stop doing drugs for a long time, and I am still hesitant to do drugs especially stimulants.

When shooting coke you have to have the upmost care and consideration.
Slamming down as much as you can and pushing yourself to the limit (which appears is what you did) is the worst thing you can do. People die from that.

EveryStar:
I normally immediately skip over threads you make without reading them. Basically, every one of them is you making poor decisions with coke - extremely stupid (lets be serious here, they are stupid decisions most of the time, not trying to be mean) ones - and "asking for advice". By "asking for advice" I mean that you post a question or concern, people pretty much tell you to either stop what you are doing or to not do whatever it is that you are considering, and you ignore what you are told and read whatever it is you want to read. You rarely if ever heed anyone's advice, you just want people to tell you its ok to keep doing what you are doing. Nobody is going to do that.

You have serious problems and I think are in denial about a lot of them. At 16 you are already in deep and wreckless like the most burned out junkie. You will die if you do not get yourself sorted out and stop this shit. This isn't a joke, you are going to die if you do not get a grip on yourself.

After all this, the scare that sets most people straight if they have two brain cells to rub together, you are already thinking about shooting the shit again, and commenting on how it sucks you didn't get very high!

You need to go to rehab, counseling, or something. You need help. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I honestly hope that you get busted for possession or something. Then at least you will have to deal with being clean for probation, and if you can't maybe some time in jail or an inpatient rehab center will help you get your shit in line.

Again, if you continue on like you have been, you are going to die. There isn't any reason to get on here and keep posting these ridiculous threads every time you go do something asinine. So you do not have to waste your time posting it or waste space in the forum with this crap. The answer is yes, death is not far off for you.

I hope you haven't been banned from this forum - or not yet anyway and get to read this. ...

This is a harm reduction forum. He's not going to be banned for that kind of thing right off the bat, even though he constantly posts this shit and is well aware he's slowly committing suicide. If people were banned immediately for making stupid choices with drugs, we wouldn't be able to help people very well.

But there is only so much a harm reduction forum can do for a person if they are bent on harming themselves.

Its like talking to a rock.

congrats for surviving a little too much yay. Yeah I know first hand that panic can lead to more of the same. stop doing stimulants. least that has worked for me mixed with xanax and other assorted opiates.

I don't want to call you out for calling 911 but I hope that it pieces together into yer memory 911=cops

anyway I'm high and I'm sure your parents and self are giving you a hard enough time. Peace

Heh, fizzacyst, I admit I'm new here and I had never seen any of this guy's previous posts. My worry that he might be banned was on the grounds of his age. I've invited him into a channel on qnet we have where he can get more advice and help and at least maybe learn a bit from knowledgeable and experienced people there.

I can't argue with your statement that you get frustrated when he continually asks for advice here then doesn't take it. I haven't seen any of his other posts.

But what I saw on Friday night was a young lad, terrified, ill and underage. At this point we should have done more to try and get his cell phone number, address, anything. Even his house number. Whatever his previous posts, this was a genuine cry for help. He knew he needed medical help and hadn't the courage to go and call an ambulance in case his parents found out. He was in a desperate state.

True, maybe we can't do much. By inviting the kid to talk to me on msn and join our irc channel I hope I can do something to help him. I'm also sure his parents will be seeing he gets therapy and the police are also involved. He has been lucky, as the paramedics said, he could have died if he hadn't gone to hospital. If he'd gone into cardiac arrest, only a hospital crash team could save him.

Sadly I have to go to a funeral now, but will be back later tonight.

Fizzacyst - you said everything I was thinking. Not much left for Everystar unless he listens to advice and turns things around except the BL shrine . . .

His partner found him lying in a coma after an OD of ecstasy at 7 am the next day. He never did totally recover and was in a coma 5 days. At least he lived. But I swore never again would I just do nothing in a similar situation.

What were the long term effects of this OD?

everyone who does too much coke in a nite thinks there heats beating so fucked that its gonna give up.. cut down one one day it will!!

That's quite a common occurrence. I myself have been in the hospital a few times from this exact same situation, banging to much coke. Just take a lil break or you will most likely notice this kind of thing happening much more often. Good luck. =/

Damn, you went to the hospital just because of a panic attack?
Panic really messes normal thought processes , and I had no clue what was going on, it was the first time of such event.

Well, servitude we never did find out all the details because he disappeared off the radar. We first heard what had happened when his partner came online the next day and said this wasn't foxy etc etc and told us what happened. The story was that our E had been thrown out because the police were about to find it and all that was left would be posted to us.

Later on, they admitted foxy had taken the whole lot, bar 4 pills but they were scared to tell us. From what I can gather, they did contain a decent amount of mdma, but also contained something that reacted very badly with this guy's prescribed medication. After being in a coma for several days he recovered and eventually after many weeks was ready to go home. That was when his partner emailed the guy who was paying for our E again, just to say foxy wouldn't be coming back on irc, this was a condition of their relationship and also the medical advice because he'd done some permanent damage that if repeated could maybe kill him.

It all sounds a bit vague, but we struggled to get any details at all. His family wanted nothing to do with our channel as you can imagine. I can't imagine what "damage" he could have done, whether this was just something we were told to account for his not coming back I don't know. They moved quite soon after and foxy himself wrote to us. He sent a photo of them carrying an extremely lage cannabis plant into the removal van, so I don't know what happened to the "no drugs" bit %)

isnt this like the 3rd time your parents caught you iv'ing?

Yeah you dont have that fear instilled in you until the day you have a done to much from then on out your a little bit more careful about how much your do and how fast u push that plunger down. lucky for me that happened in the first week of me doing it and it was one of the scariest things to have happened to me and now i never since that day just push the plunger down fast as i can once i see red remembering the day i did that and that happened.

i kno when a shot is on the bigger side and so do you i always either slowly push in the shot or push in half way wait 5 seconds then reregister then go for the rest.

sounds like you had a panic attack. a heart rate of 100bpm is normal. my own resting heart rate is around 80bpm. if you had ODed on coke, you would have had a very short window to have called for help. once the seizures start, there's not much you can do.

that being said, you did do the right thing. but it truly sounds like you had a panic attack. try to have some benzo's on hand for next time, or at bare minimum, a bottle of wine, or a few beers, to calm you down.

i very well know the feeling that you think you're about to die. when i thought i OD'd on coke, i had this entire task list of things i had to do before calling 911. i had to make my bed, take a shower, put on nice clothes (didnt want anybody thinking im all messy or a drug addict), clean my computer (had to get rid of all the porn, dammit), flush my stash (didnt want my girl and her family to suffer when my stash would've been found and everybody thinking i was strung out all the time). after reading on erowid and here on BL the following day, i realized that i had simply had a panic attack, as a result from doing alot of blow, then followed up by roughly 6 intense bong hits, to make myself pass out. i ain't ever mixing blow with weed again !!

It's not always about someone's pulse rate, but I agree with chilidog, death would usually follow within minutes of an overdose. That's not to say that you can't have a dose with a bad outcome still requiring medical help. The coke would be cut with something and that adulterant could be causing problems for instance. Even a panic attack needs treating. With someone in the state you were EveryStar, the only sensible thing to do was go to hospital and I'm relieved you did.

This is what I've been able to find out about cocaine overdoses generally:

An overdose can lead to heart and respiratory problems resulting in death, especially with intravenous use and smoking or basing cocaine. When cocaine is injected, death can follow very fast, even after only a few minutes. Smoking or basing can also have the same effects. Fortunately, a lethal overdose is fairly uncommon.

The causes of a fatal overdose are:

  1. Disturbance of the heart and blood vessel system. An overdose can lead to a strong irregular functioning of the heart, and eventually failure of the heart. It can cause high blood pressure, and as a result, bleeding in the brain leading to a greater possibility of death by brain hemorrhage.
  2. Repeated convulsions , which can happen in such quick succession that consciousness cannot be restored.
  3. Respiratory problems resulting in respiratory failure.

The average lethal dose of intravenous use of cocaine is about 500 milligrams. By lethal dose I mean LD50, ie a dose from which 50% of people would die.

750-800 milligrams intravenously is usually considered a fatal dose, that is fatal for everyone who takes it. Clearly some people will fall quite well outside these amounts and heavily cut cocaine means that it's not easy to take a fatal dose in one go anyway. Though lethal or fatal doses of coke are apparently uncommon, but bad reactions or panic attacks happen frequently.

you will be fine, my heart rate is like 100-130 all day long everyday and BP is average like 140/90 all day everyday alot higher most of the time, I have been up to BP 210/110

ur fine

trichr0me I would guess you're quite young so the maximum heart rate isn't too bad - it should be roughly 220 minus your age. Your resting heart rate is too high if that's the figure when you are just sitting down etc, more useful would be your heart rate when you wake up. A healthy person would probably be somewhere in the 60's. Your blood pressure is too high. Some people just do have high blood pressure - the systolic is not as important as the diastolic ie the lower figure. At 90 it's just OK and it's maybe normal for you. But if these are your readings after taking drugs and you're like this all day then I would say you're increasing your chances of problems, more so later in life.

LOL 210/110? Yeah you might be fine for a very short while.

I'm not sure that's entirely accurate. Your systolic is just as important as this is when your heart contracts and sends oxygenated blood to your vessels. Diastolic is when the heart relaxes and blood enters the ventricles.

Sorry I made a mistake here, I thought the 210/110 was heart rate but it's BP. Both figures are way too high and the diastolic, if it's at that level for any length of time will definitely make you more prone to strokes and heart problems. Has that been accurately measured?

Edit Historically, the diastolic has always been considered of more importance, however I checked this on wikipedia and it said:

In the past, most attention was paid to diastolic pressure; but nowadays it is recognised that both high systolic pressure and high pulse pressure (the numerical difference between systolic and diastolic pressures) are also risk factors. In some cases, it appears that a decrease in excessive diastolic pressure can actually increase risk, due probably to the increased difference between systolic and diastolic pressures (see the article on pulse pressure).
