Yes of course, we don't mean to warn you about the dangers of this combination unnecessarily; it's just that it's a particularly notorious combination for killing people unexpectedly. Often the user will have methadone building up in their system due to the long half life. Sometimes this leads to unexpected overdoses. We just like to make sure no one is going to unintentionally overdose; it's really sad to know that people go through this, let alone that people could die from it.
Definitely quit then; why did you go back to them if you had already quit? Just curious. Congratulations on knowing that you can quit by having done it twice before.
@Captain.Heroin - Wow. I'd have to say your comment is the only one so far that I've felt is sincere. Thank you.
Indeed I understand the warning of methadone+benzos. I myself have had to warn others that this combination is EXTREMELY deadly and often creeps up on people and leads to SO many accidental, unexpected deaths. Had the person been able to comment on their accidental death, they would've said "But I only took one xanny bar, what gives??"
I quit the first time when I left rehab in early 2011 cold turkey after a pack a day for 6 months, then I quit cold turkey again in early 2012 after leaving rehab, again, smoking a pack a day for 3 months. I went back to it because my sister smokes and I moved back home to live with my parents recently while I'm working and saving money, and she's pretty much doing the same, and seeing her outside smoking all the time makes me consider it. Also, I did a 6 week outpatient (night class 5:30-8) rehab for my heroin addiction back in october-ish and started smoking again for the second time (the first time I started smoking again was whwn I went back to rehab, which is almost impossble not to smoke when 99% of the patients and employees at the rehab smoke lol). Since then, I started smoking 15-20 cigarettes a day, then recently I went down to 10 a day, and now I only smoke 2 in the morning, and 1-2 in the evening. I'd love to quit altogether of course, but everyone at my work at the grocery pretty much smokes (especially in the department I work in) and it's so hard to say no when they ask if I wanna take a smoke break with them, haha.
At my work, if you smoke, they tend to be more lenient with you taking several 5-minute breaks per shift than if you weren't a smoker, you'd just be standing there.
Anyway, thanks again everyone and C.H for the replies, I've got the info I needed and I'm going to take a few weeks off the alprazolam if not a few months in order to reduce my tolerance. I think it was just the Pakistani quality of the Xanax pills I was getting from there. The European Pfizer "Upjohn 90" lavender tablets (seen here
http://min.medicin.dk/resource/media/C3322DD4 ) are of much better quality and while they were both supposedly 1mg tablets, 2 of the 1mg upjohn 90 tabs perform as I'd expect, rather than me having to take 6-8 of the Pakistani "Parke-Davis XANAX 1.0" tablets. the tablets are entirely different though. different shade of purple, different size, the upjohns melt in your mouth rather than the parke-davis tabs being hard and crunchy, and on and on and on.
Basically I don't think my tolerance necessarily skyrocketed overnight, I just happened to be taking tablets that had a weak alprazolam content. Silly me. Because wednesday night at bedtime I took 3 of the Upjohn 90 tabs along with my 1.5mg of clonazepam and I was blown away and EXTREEEMELY relaxed. Knocked me straight out.
Thanks again for all of the comments everyone. If someone could close this thread that would be great too.
