I wasn't even too pleased with their supposed comeback record Through The Ashes Of Empires.

I've never really understood metal... I love Primus, enjoy some of Tool's stuff (but I have been told neither of these bands are really metal...) So hook it up!
THE WOOD said:thats an excellent question psychedelic, and i personally think its one that cant be answered without fielding more than 1 album. id need at least 2 or three, preferably around 5 or so to show a progression of metal music over time. a listener will pick up not only on the evolution of styles and what not, but the fundamental traits that make metal what it is.
(i would probably pick) an old priest album (lets say british steel), either sepultura's schizophrenia or slayer's reign in blood (sonOFs Master of Puppets would work for this slot too), then probbaly a latter Death album, maybe some early morbid angel, and probably something real contemporary like a newer testament, pantera, or overkill release.
i dont think one album would cut it to introduce someone to metal. ud need to hear a few from a few different artists to pick up where the similarities and differences are.
