All men play on 10 (METAL THREAD 3.0)

Man, I've been watching some of the metalocalypse episodes... i'm really kinda disappointed. I hate to say it, but this show sucks. It doesnt really relate to metal much at all, even if it did its not very funny anyway. Since when does a metal band make that much money and become that popular? The band members dont fit together at all. The only notable humour would arise from associations with actual underground metal culture, which arent really present. Apart from random violence sequences and a few obscure metal cameos that would only prompt a chuckle from seasoned metalheads, theres not much redeeming about it. Its just... stupid.

man i wouldnt be that harsh, but i agree. its more like totally random occurances that some guys in a band happen to be involved in.

but i think all the eloquently extreme conditions the band lives in is/are pretty intelligently done, its a sort of tounge in cheek humor only people into metal music can appreciate. its just sort of the idea of the metal world take over, like it just is a reflection of the metal vs the world mentality. the mansion, the sub, the helicopter, plane, bike, all that stuff, its a joke but its totally metal.

the first episode is a lot more relevant, and things in some of the other episodes. but the last couple have been about things that dont really have anything to do with metal music, i agree.

my fervor for this show has dwindled a lot since it first aired, but friends and i have sort of developed a drinking/smoking ritual that revolves entirely around metalocalypse sunday nights. i still love it, but after just the first 3 episodes i was like FUCK THIS IS THE COOLEST SHOW EVER!

I like All Shall Perish, Through The Eyes Of The Dead and Suicide Silence but I haven't
heard the other ones.
I'll check them out. Thanks.:)

anyone else feel its about time for a new Dimmu release? Im really craving some SBD or PEM quality material as of late and have listened to both of those just a few too many times.

Good news for you, Woody Buddy! I was flipping through Revolver magazine at my local diner, where I saw a special piece on Dimmu Borgir's top secret upcoming album! It's supposed to have no orchestra, unlike the last couple of release (good riddance; the strings thing was getting old), and they say it's going to be "huge", which I assume to mean "good." The band seems really excited about it. I'm really looking forward to it, as it seems a lot of tried and true bands are starting to defeat the dip of the 2002-2004 years and making some excellent new releases.

Man, time for me to play the underground troll again. I couldnt get fired up for a new dimmu album if you paid me too. I cant imagine they'd come out with anything interesting. However I find it amusing that Hellhammer drums for them (or last I heard). That guy is the preeminent band whore.

On the topic of sweet new releases, Blut Aus Nord's new one is titled MoRT, came out a few weeks ago. Crazy twisted stuff. It is dope.

I'll admit I'm not as big a fan of Dimmu as I used to be. But they are decent; I like them on the same level as a band like Arch Enemy, meaning they are excellent, top of their class, but definitely not transcendentally amazing or something :)

eh

90% chance that it sucks

they were like one of my top fav bands at one point but imo theyre really on the decline, and have been for many years

i really hope i am proved wrong...

im really anticipating the new Testament and new Napalm Death to be released in the following year.

Er...Woody... you're the one who said you were looking forward to a new DB album. What the fuck?

na man

im sayin i want a new release that will rival puritanical and spiritual

but i know that is wishful thinking

damn i havent listened to SBD in forever, im throwin it on now.

sorry i will never have the black metal eliteness you posess liric :)

haha its ok. Sometimes even i have trouble convincing myself that i actually understand and enjoy Ildjarn. ;)

Peons. u all disgust me.

malachai305 introduced me to Cynic. That is the band formed by ex-members of Death, correct? Excellent stuff if im thinking of the same band.

Can I list the best metal albums I've gotten lately? Thanks.

Acid Bath - When the Kite String Pops
The best-least-heard-of band ever, in my reality. Just a perfect good mixture of folk/spiritual elements and hard-rock insanity. Very disturbing in a beautifully metal way.

Fear Factory
- Digimortal
Like a much better version of Machinehead. "Nu-metal" done right - meaning it's catchy and tech-poppy, but is still good music, and full of passion.

Death - Individual Thoughts Patterns
One of my top 3 favourite albums by the masters of death metal. I can't listen to the first song enough!

Iced Earth - Dark Saga
It's about Spawn, dammit!

Soulfly - Dark Ages
I can't believe I didn't get into this EXCELLENT band sooner... they mix in my favourite genres of metal, and the singer is definitely above-par; these guys are hard-rocking, disturbing, technical, musical, and everything. They even throw in some nu-metal for us modern metal fans.

OK. Thanks for reading this pointless response.

I'm sorry, but Fear Factory did NOT put out a better nu metal album than Machine Head's 'The Burning Red'. That is my favorite nu metal CD of all time.
