me and my one friend were tlaking about who would be the craziest black metal motherfucker to be trapped ina room with and would you try to fuck with his head or would u just keep your distance. he was saying the vocalist from gorgoroth cuz he cut some dude up, strung him upside down in a ritualistic fashion, and gutted him. i was like wtf i never heard of that. any truth to this from ppl who know all the rediculous happenings in the more frigid reigons of the metalverse?

"Poland Incident
On February 1st, 2004, during a live broadcast concert in Krakow, Poland, the band displayed sheep heads on stakes, a bloodbath of 80 litres of sheep's blood, satanic symbols, and four naked crucified models on stage. One of the female models fainted. A police investigation took place with allegations of religious offense and cruelty to animals. Though these charges were considered, the band was not charged. The whole controversy lead to the band being dropped from the roster of the Nuclear Blast Tour and the footage of the concert being confiscated by the police.

In February 2005, Infernus was accused and convicted of raping a young woman at an after-party. She claimed she was kept hostage and abused for more than an hour before she managed to flee in just a towel. Infernus was found not guilty of the actual rape, but was still charged with his indifferent attitude as the rape was committed by a friend of his and he did nothing to stop it. He is looking at a year in Norwegian prison. The case has been appealed."

I do know alot of shit gets said in the extreme metal underground, alot of it is blown wayyyyy out of proportion, remember many of these guys thrive on being the 'most extreme' so they often start these stories themselves, and everyone loves a good story. No question there is some stuff which is just a little too fucked up that likely happened, but there is not a whole lot of source-checking or fact verfication that goes on in these circles and people do take full advatage of that quite often.
That said, there are a few black metal bands who actually do employ the services of clinically insane individuals as vocalists (Silencer, Staalagh, few others). I don't think your garden variety black metaler would scare me much, but i do not want to be trapped in a room with a black metaler who is actually crazy. I would just sit in the goddamn corner with my knuckedusters and keep quiet.

i love the end of the one napalm death album, im pretty sure its on Enemy of the Music Business but not sure - they have this eastern european guy talking in the black metal voice about how brutal his hometown is cuz grabator comes from there or something. hes like "I AM THE MOST EXTREME DEATH BLACK THRASH GRIND MANIAC EVERRRRR!" makes me wonder if it was fanmail sent to them or something.

^ excellent artwork (music) over a $10 budgeted video...totally metal! I like how every guy in the band is wearing the bullet chain gear. Great closeups on the guitar work at parts - i like how sometimes ill hear shit that doesnt sound all that intricate, then I look at the guy playing guitar or check out a tab and think hah yeah bit more complex than i thought...

About Testament... I love them... but it's weird, my favourite album of theirs is The Gathering. I have heard them all a lot... but that's my favourite, lyrically, musically, etc.

^ I would def stand by that. First off Testament doesnt have a bad album. Some of the production on their old albums is crappy, but hey, its the 80s, and metal doesnt need production to sound kickass.
"Down for Life" off of The Gathering is probably my fav testament song. Its simple, basic, but damn does it pack a punch. When I saw them live I was really hoping theyd do that, but they diddnt do anything past Souls of Black.
Only thing about the new stuff is their leads tend to go for more of the ambient, headspace inducing sound, as opposed to their old leads which delve into neo classical theory and some flat out 80s style thrashy shredding.
Make sure and grab First Strike, Still Deadly if you are a Testament fan. Its all songs off of the first 3 albums, re-recorded, remastered, reproduced, and relentless. The new version of "Disciples of the Watch" has one of the best guitar leads you will ever hear. I like the new version of "Over the Wall" a lot better too.

Yeah, his voice is more deep and raw now than when he was younger, it's right on. Testament carried on the tradition that bands like Metallica fucked over.
The Gathering is so urgently spiritual that it frightens me sometimes. He mentions '2012' on it... and well, when someone is screaming this shit right into your face, it's easier to take it as seriously as if God said it.

yeah the Mayan calender was perfectly accurate for every year up untill 2012, when they predicted the universe would end, according to their religious and astrological practices. Many other "prophets" throughout time have predicted disaster, armegeddon, and mass destruction abound in 2012. The recent science fiction obsession with the "Hab Theory" can also fuel this notion (that the earth will begin spinning in its polar opposite direction and bring on a new ice age).
Personally, I think I will still be partying and banging my head, enjoying being just under 30.

Hehe. I don't think the whole 2012 thing, to me, denies that "life will be the same ever" in the year. To me it's more of a philosophical concept, like an icon we all look forward to. I don't think it matters on the particular number of the year or whatever.
But still, I'd love to believe in it... since I don't get that much satisfaction from partying, I'd like to see all of humanity suffer

OUTSTANDING death metal. these guys just flat out shred. id call their style somewhere in between deicide and old monstrosity. def a lot of old school influence. i just got this cd and have only listened to it once, but fuck it has really blown me away. if you liek death metal, raw, fierce, and blisteringly fast, this is for you.
after i listen to this a few more times ill give it a fuller review, but lemme tell ya if you like the harder end of metal, and dont have this cd, GET IT NOW!!!!

Speaking of that, everyone should check out what I believe to be the best metal website: Metalobserver.com. Even the language selection images at the start are cool. And the reviews are usually well-written, which seems to be somewhat uncommon for metal. They also have many obscure reviews, and usually have a couple mp3's to listen to.

i think Dimmu Borgir and Cryptopsy have two of the coolest websites ever. i fucking love all the sound effects when u highlight shit on cryptopsy's site, sounds like a wolly mammoth trampling an entire settlement of siberian nomads.
glad to see cannibal corpse is sloooowly starting to build a cooler site, for years it looked like some crap i coulda churned out in high school html class.

oh i havent looked at it since june. i have the most reliable resource on earth for shows now, my one metal friend with the largest metal collection in existance. this dude's life pretty much is nothing but playing heavy metal, going to shows, or welding some metal, 24 hours a day. i get a weekly phone call with about 10 potential shows for the next few days and im always like dude...my steel is far more blunted than thine.
seriously this guy doesnt even believe in the internet. he has about 3 or 4 thousand actually purchased cds, he even had to move to a new house cuz he was running out of room for racks for cds (also all his spikey stuff).
