All 50 States Ranked By The Cost Of Weed (Hint: Oregon Wins)

somebody who doesn't want to commit a federal crime?

alasdair

They're already technically breaking federal law by possessing a controlled substance illegally, are they not?

But this:

People who don't have a dealer in the state bordering theirs

obviously makes a lot of sense.

If the cops pulled you over and found an ounce of weed in your car, I'd imagine you'd be prosecuted at the state level (depending on where you live; around here it's legal to have up to an ounce in your possession), regardless of where you bought the weed originally.

To be clear, I was only talking about buying weed for personal use, not trafficking...maybe I should've been clear about that.

while, again, it's hard to know how a small amount would be treated, if pot is illegal in your state so you go next door to colorado, buy it and bring it home, you've transported it across state lines which creates the federal issue.

or did you intend that people bought an ounce in the neighboring state and smoked it all there before returning home with it? that seems odd.

That would assume that authorities are fully cognizant of the fact that you left your state, went into another state & purchased drugs, then returned to your state.

The one time in my life I was arrested, it was for possession of a controlled substance about six miles away from the US-Mexico border, and about a stone's throw away from the New Mexico-Texas border (I was arrested in Texas). My license plates were from a jurisdiction thousands of miles away from where I was arrested...in addition, there were two people I was processed with (a guy from Georgia who was arrested on a Greyhound bus with three ounces of weed, and a Mexican kid with about thirty pounds of weed in a backpack, also on the Greyhound), and the Georgian pretty much freely admitted that he'd ridden into the state of Texas with the weed...he was charged in the state system and his bail was actually less than mine (I had only had a few grams of hashish but it was enough for a felony charge!). The Mexican kid caught some serious charges and he got pulled out of the holding cell to talk with someone from the DEA but again, he had about thirty pounds so that's a significant amount of weed.

For an ounce or two of weed I don't think you have to worry about catching a federal charge regardless of where you bought it...depending on what jurisdiction you're in, you can get pretty jammed up locally anyway.

I also don't know who would buy an ounce in North Dakota when they could drive just a little bit west into Montana and get a much better deal, LOL

Oh they do believe me :) montana supplies north dakota mainly because of the how many people here are working out there in the oil fields.

I'm paying about $200/Oz in Cali. I usually buy 3 ounces at a time, so I get the discount. Not top shelf stuff but not bottom shelf either. If you buy smaller, like an eighth at a time, I haven't seen them cheaper than $25/eighth. Contrast this to when I was in high school mid-90's and was paying $60 an eighth (pre-medical MJ). This is progress. The best deals I've seen are to be found at pot farmers markets around october (outdoor harvest). Walk in with some buying power and you'll be set for a while.
