Alice in Chains - anyone obsessed like myself?

Many times I've jammed to Man in the Box when I was really drunk. I think they are a great band though. Some of my favorite songs besides mitb are Rooster, Would, Down in a Hole, and Nutshell.

I love your username, I quoted you just to point out your handle is my favorite Modest Mouse song. Gud pick m8!

I feel like this forum has so much love for AIC (and really that shouldn't be surprising given the spike [pun intended] in junkies of BL. Don't get me wrong, I agree Layne has a deeply gripping voice that can open himself up and lay his insides bare; for those suffering from addiction or any mental health problems I feel like that authenticity commands respect, here on this community, as well as anywhere junkies of any sort lurk, whether they get kicks from a bottle, bag, needle, or girlie mag. All the same, I still wanna be like, Kurt Cobain was a better singer and you're fucken dumb retarded if you can't tell he influenced AIC more than anyone. No Nirvana = No AIC. LOL, there is a troll gallivanting out and about in my soul.

Love a fatshot while listening to AiC.. Also, AiC helps alot when I'm down in a hole.. hah.
motherofearth - I got into Nirvana way before AiC, and I refuse to compare the two.. just a thing I do out of respect. Both gentlemen were amazing people with amazing vocal range & musical skill.
People who argue Kurt's better than layne, or Layne's better than kurt... they're dumb as fuck.. I just want to punch them straight in the mouth. haha. I like both Nirvana & AiC equal.. well, that's a lie.. I was obsessed with nirvana.. but don't get me wrong, AiC fuckin' rocks.

Anyways.. How's it going BBT? Fuckin' be more active, man.. I miss your posts.
I've gotta kick 'til the 25th.. sucks. & Even then, I might be going in the pen for a year.. lol. Just got out of county yesterday morning.. picked up on a bullshit warrant because I missed my court date, however, the date on the ticket says may 1st. Fuck that bullshit.

what happen, kid? I have 2 boys in Middleton right now. one got caught up picking up roxy's. other is in there for other whacky shit; I feel bad for both. the one for roxy's went in and had to go through killer withdrawals he told me. I am thankful I never had an addiction when going away.

you got picked up for missing a court date? how long did you go for? weekend? what about the year.. whats up w/ that?

as you can see I've def. slipped over the last 2-3 months. came off the bupe and hit the dope heavy again. now tolerance built to the point where all my shots are a waste; too much money and not enough satisfaction. I still have about 20 bupe left and going to ATTEMPT for my own kick. we'll see how it goes. the dope been sucking around here and my tolerance is a ripper, so its not worth it man. I've also been mixing between shooting and sniffing for some reason; my veins are just SHOT, man. also have a few hospital visits this month for my own personal health issues and dont want it being too obvious whats happening w/ my arms.

so many people always say they never meet people who bounce between sniffing and shooting; I dont know, but I somehow do. sometimes it depends on location, or if equipment is avail. sometimes a Dr. appointment or reason my arms will be out in the open or getting looked it. and then other times my veins are GONE.. they suck as is.. so I sniff because I have nothing else.

This thread is where I belong I miss Layne's voice amazing just amazing they don't really make men like that anymore I'm 30 and pft I'm telling you I may have been young but the way that music set a generation....glad to see others still have a soul and can feel what this band did and how it made you feel...

Yes I started snorting then started shooting and I agree Nirvana and Alice in Chains are two separate entities...and yes i connect with Layne's pain and shooting a nice shot while listening to Dirt or Facelift sigh

You and me both it's haunting
haha, good dream.

I am obsessed w / AIC; I read the SAME ARTICLES, look at same pics, same CD's, same unplugged, same everything. almost daily. kinda fucking whacky, huh? each time I hear the CD or performance it's like its NEW again. crazy how it all happened to Layne; when the 2nd album dropped he was on top and knew it; was using hard but OPEN about it and had tracks about it, but he didnt care and truly rocked the fuck out.

then eventually, later in 93, the drugs caught up to him pretty good. and then seeing him on MTV Unplugged you see how much he has changed, skinnier, face, etc. not to mention he was jammed out of his face that day on dope. and then lastly you can see some FINAL pics of Layne before his death; it's insane how he has changed. HEROIN does that. please stay away.

Absolutely love AIC. Layne is one of my favorite singers of all time. I'm more into Their later stuff. Jar of Flies,Sap, and Tripod(self-titled whatever you want to call it) are my faves. Mad Season was also amazing and I think they were way underrated.(I do realize they went on without Layne but they could never do anything that came even close to Above.) I love Layne's voice and the way he expressed himself and i will be listening to/singing along wiht his music til i die. Have you ever seen the interview with Jerry and Sean when they talk about how the band started? It's pretty funny. Also they smoke a joint while they're tlaking i thought that was awesome.

let me ask tho, peeps.. if we (well, me especially) were not dope fiends, would we still have the same love for AIC!? let's face it, a lot of Laynes struggles had to do w/ his life and addiction; we can relate, esp. myself. although, I first started "liking" AIC before I got heavy into the dope scene. I've always had a love for them but it always had to do w/ depression and the tougher aspects of life. once addiction TOOK OVER each and every line, lyric, event I could relate in many ways.

as any degenerate AIC fan, I've ready every book, comment, write-up, etc.. about Layne, the band, his after life, time off, Mad Season, etc. I wasnt just an AIC fan; although, they were my #1.. but I was a grunge fan in general w/ AIC being on TOP! Mad Season is there right w/ them.. and they only put up 1 album.

Yes I saw that I do the same thing reading articles and watching interviews it's puzzling as to why it went away "poof" I wrote his mom the other day that woman deserves anything and everything good. I thought it would might be a good idea to let her know how she is appreciated she's done a lot for the fans. Anywho, It's not even an argument that man exuded more emotion. I don't remember what video I was watching where someone was discussing the layering on his voice...that's what made unplugged so epic his voice raw was just made my soul ache. As far as Mad Season you can tell he was in a different place one of the best albums in my opinion.

I loved them before I even knew what dope was it had different meaning to me but as life goes you have that transcendent moment with Layne and it takes on a new face. Grunge was the frustration and emotion I couldn't get out growing up Mad Season was different and that alone was what interested me.

here is the latest; still MORE work CAN be done but I am re-doing one of my sleeves before I finish this up. just more detailing to be added.

Nah not like that and this dude is a chick <3 no I was reading things online and she has been through it and with the anniversary of his death and such I figured I'd thank her for being an awesome mother for still connecting with the fans not many would do that....me being a woman I respect that she was thankful and very sweet she has a lot of strength and with that being said she needs to know that what she does is appreciated that's all...I'm a sap what can I say I got lots of heart and try to give love when it's needed. Now enough icky emotional stuff heh

Exactly did you guys see that one interview with him talking about he drank tequila and played with himself and got thrown out of his show he was wearing a mini skirt lol dude was funny as hell
