Alcohol no longer good?

Hey. I used to drink alcohol starting at age 17 . It used to give me a nice buzz but then at age 18 i started with ecstasy. This seemed to trump alcohol easy. Now i am 28 and no longer get much of a buzz from alcohol. Is anyone in the same boat?

I go through times of not finding alcohol enjoyable & then quite liking it.

Either way it's overpriced though.

I went through a 6-month period in college when I first started drinking where it was fun to drink, then it stopped being fun so I stopped doing it completely. Same with weed, although I still smoke occasionally. Maybe you just over-did it and wore out the positive effects.

Could also be that other mind-altering drugs--MDMA, opiates, hallucinogens, etc.--tend to be more "euphoric" and uplifting than alcohol, which is a depressant. Substances like alcohol that affect GABA tend to fuck you up pretty well without the additional euphoria, insight and "magic" of some other drugs.

I used to love to just get drunk at parties and such until I did other drugs. Now, I can't stand alcohol and haven't gotten drunk in a long time. When I discovered better things, there's no longer a point to it.

i've hit a weird point with alcohol too. i think it is because even though i would not get anywhere near drunk or even buzzed from a single drink, i could feel a little warmth, and that would make the first drink worthwhile and make me want a second. now, because of years of drinking and, i think even more so, benzo use, my tolerance makes alcohol a struggle to abuse. having to quickly drink knowing i wont even feel the slightest touch of anything until my 3rd drink is discouraging. for 2 reasons, 1. sometimes i just want to have a beer or two--no point to that anymore. 2. even if i want to get drunk, it's just too much work and i do not reap the rewards quickly enough for my first few drinks to be reinforcing.

only time i ever drink now is with benzos, to help the benzos.

Personally, I like mixing alcohol with LSD. In small amounts, It drives away any fear of the trip and the two go together like peanut butter and jelly. Great times with alcohol and LSD but yes, i agree, alcohol by itself is just a little bit depressing.

I always hated alcohol. Loved doing drugs because it just seemed less harmful with better effects and less side effects. My job now randomly tests so I stopped all drugs. Its been about 2 years. So now I drink when I go out with friends

For me, any feeling I got off of alcohol was instantly defeated by most other illegal drugs, as soon as I got stoned I knew alcohol wouldn't feature majorly in my life aha and since then drugs like meph and base have just widened the gap between how much pleasure alcohol can cause in comparison to other substances.

I've never had a problem with achieving a good drunk. Have you tried drinking more alcohol? Certainly at some point in chugging that handle you'd feel something.
Also I do prefer other drugs usually, but alcohol is so easily socially acceptable that in a lot of situations I just go for broke at the bar.
Maybe that's just the Southern vibe though.

Despite having used many other drugs, I still find alcohol very enjoyable. MDMA is the only drug that I've tried that I enjoy in party atmosphere more than alcohol. And since you can't roll that often, alcohol is still my go to drug for parties.

wow, I was beginning to think I was weird. just a few months ago before I quit benzos I was drinking several times a week. now I can barely stand the taste to get past a couple drinks and don't really like the effects, although it puts me in a bit of a better mood than when I'm sober.

the feeling of being drunk is better than being high imo

but the hangover is sometimes not worth it
