[Alcohol] is not the same anymore...?

First off, I am 19 years old. I do not have the same drinking experience that someone who is well into their 20s has. However I notice that now when I drink, I don't get the same intense euphoric effects in which I used to get.

Lately I only get a dissociated feeling and dizziness without that warm alcohol buzz.

I went through a period of spearheading parties on 30-60mg of vyvanse, then drinking as I came down to battle the introverted comedowns. What ended up happening is that I got sort of obsessed with the fact I could drink and not feel drunk, but feel the happy effects of alcohol. ^Anyway, that's what I think screwed up my perception of alcohol.

The other night I went partying sober and I was 10x more social than I have been in the past week while drinking.

If anyone's ever been in my shoes please fill me in on what I need to do. I'm not an alcohol addict by any means, but it'd be nice to have a good social drink with friends again!

I think this is better suited for Basic Drug Discussion so we can see what kind of discussion this generates over here and if unsatisfied, can try it again back in Other Drugs. Alcohol isn't addressed extensively around the forums so it doesn't have as much of a home as many other substances.

how often do you drink? How much do you drink when you drink?

Take some breaks man, Alcohol is still a drug

You are most likely developing a tolerance...

However, alcohol, like all other drugs, isn't going to just magically make things better. If you're in a bad place mentally or a bad situation, drinking will probably only make your bad mental state that much worse.

I recommend taking a break from alcohol for a bit and seeing if that helps you. :)

Indeed, this may be true. I'm going to be laying off the sauce for a little while. To be honest when I drink I'm usually pretty mellow, but not upset.

I want to rediscover that happy rush of euphoria I used to get when I took 3 shots. Not this groggy mind-fuck that I've been getting! Thanks for the tips.

Not a problem. As long as you treat alcohol the same way you treat other drugs, its a lot easier. :)

Also, I would try it without amphetamines (Vyvanse) after you take a break. Sometimes that combination does a lot more harm than good.
