Alcohol and body building question

Casual sex? One night stands? ZNS's? (zero night stands)? Use ur body to get your freak on. I'm in my mid 40's now but it seems that 'hooking up' is at least as acceptable as it was when I was younger. Keep lots of H2O by the bed and get your cardio on bro!

it is true though i do know some beasts that are 250 plus and benching over 400 pounds that drink 4-5 times a week so it obviously doesnt hurt them as badly as it does others..they might could press more if it werent for the alcohol but they love their booze..
 
I'm not concerned about how much someone benches or squats. Body building is way more complicated than being strong.

I'm asking if anyone can maintain a good physique while consuming alcohol once every week or two. From what I have seen, all the "bodybuilders" who love their booze look soft compared to the ones that abstain.

I'm far from an expert, but your not looking to compete are you? I think occasional drinking isn't going to interfere with you developing and maintaining a decent body that much (but it will be a negative against you, just like cheat meals are. The more negatives, the more risk to your ideal physique). If you have good genes it's a plus, if your genes are working against you it may have a greater impact.

all things in moderation is one way to look at it. And as long as your not lying to yourself and mean 'consuming 12 drinks at least 2x a week and mean a few drinks 1-2x/week I don't think it will turn you from being obviously fit and muscular to soft and flabby by any means, with the caviat that this is like cheat meals... the more corners you cut, or rules you disregard, the worse results you will get.

But everything is a trade off. Some guys lives revolve around bb'ing soooo much, and eating clean sooo much... that they in fact don't have a life. Their life is their bb'ing lifestyle. You only have 1 life to live so don't rob yourself of every pleasure unless you have as the ultimate goal to get a pro card or something..... my 2 cents.
 
Ive used steroids recreationally (non-competition) for nearly twenty years, on and off. I found that when trying to bulk up drinking interferred with my diet - I couldnt eat as much the next day, especially quality protein. That hurts then your bulk cycle is only 8-12 week long. One bad diet day could cut out three days of growth, just to recoup. But, when cutting fat - Im 6'2" and about 245 when lean - Id do so much cardio and be on clenbuterol, for example, I could drink everyone in the bar under the table and hardly feel it. My metabolism kicked ass and I didnt feel it much the next day. And even if I did, so what, I'm dieting anyway. But if you are wondering if alcohol interferes with steriods specifically, Id say no. Just your ability to maintain a decent diet. And I agree with Titus - you only have one lifre to live so dont waste time trying to perfect something that is so fleeting as YOU at 100%.
 
Well there are alternatives to alcohol, but none are anything that I would admit to taking in person for moral and legal reasons. Scrutiny will be something I'll have to deal with every now and then.

I have not had a sip of alcohol in a month and I have no issues maintaining my size or strength. When I did drink, I would gain fat and my muscles would appear flatter. I would also injure myself from being dehydrated. I enjoy looking my best every day, rather than "enjoying myself" and only looking shredded for short periods of time. I feel the best about myself when I look in the mirror, or people give me compliments on my physique, not while I'm out getting yucky with the boys.

I have read that while alcohol is in your system, the body will not absorb protein efficiently. If that is true, then I definitely will steer clear from it.
 
The nice thing about drinking is it dehydryates you while the carbs fill your muscles. So, at least while you are out meeting girls, you do actually look better while you are drinking. Check out the veins sticking out of your arms and neck after you've been out for a while and you'll see what I mean. If you've got game the ladys basically cant resist. And so instead of standing in front of a mirror admiring yourself, share a bit with the ladys.
 
I might be missing the point of your OP. Are you looking for something to take, like a drug, to feel buzzed, that will have minimal to no negative impact on the efforts you make towards bb'ing? something else?
 
My two intoxicants used near daily are marijuana and coffee and so can you. Don't overkill on them but a lil bit here and there is mild on the body.

That's about my favorite combination. Being on test, strong bud and the blackest dark roast.

Not exactly, but recommendations are welcome. I'm well schooled on things like GHB and ecstasy, but as I get older, drug use becomes less and less socially accepted and the group that continues to use other substances than alcohol gets shadier and shadier.

I'm more so looking for examples of people on the forum that have good physiques and are able to drink more than once a month. My experience says that it can be done, but it's extremely difficult and counter productive. As a natty lifter I couldn't break through a plateau until I quit alcohol.

well i did know a few guys that maintained a pretty lean/muscular physique and they drank often but they also used steroids, drugs like clen etc etc..tbh i think anyone could drink a few times a month and not have it impact their physique that much..i thought u meant regular, almost daily drinkers??

i can definitely understand the situation u are in though regarding socially accepted substances..u have alcohol and thats it..

i immediately thought of arnold, but then i also remembered his famous "milk is for babies" saying. both are bad, they won't kill your muscles very much but they'll hurt your gains, i believe there was some study saying that marijuana inhibits protein synthesis to a degree, from experience, your sleep won't be very beneficial either.
 
That's not very good logic because you don't know what his lifts could have been had he not drank twice a week.

i agree, he might be stronger, but i've never seen many people can lift that much without supplementation. i'm just trying to say that it's not like taking adderall and not sleeping the same day you hit back and bi's.

That is usually how it goes.... people that continue to use as they age often start using harder drugs. I know because I was one of them.

I guess at the end it really depends on how serious you are... if you are concerned with your body being 100 percent effective, then do not drink. It is very possible to look good and drink occasionally if you keep it healthy.
 
Im 45. I still use test from time to time cause at 45 you do feel that it's lower. Although, because of 19 years of working out on and off steroids, on top of working out since I was 12, when I stop working out altogether I maintain pretty good size (6'2" and 235 off completely, 265 in top shape on. So, I started juice in 1992. When I went to law school from 1993-1996 I exploded. And I partied. A lot. Getti g married, having kids, moving to new cities, getting divorced, being busy with work, took off of working out and the juice many times, but it's my passion so I always returned. From some of my other posts on this board you know I had gyno which I had removed by surgery in 2007. Best decision in my life. They say using marijuana can help cause gyno - and I smoked everyday in law school. But back on point, check out a picture of me from 2001 - my avatar when I was a member of steroid.com. If you want to see the effects of drinking while on the juice, go there,into the forums, and search for "juiceon" my handle there. Click on one of the hits and see one of my posts, and that's me in the avatar, gyno and all. I won't advocate drinking while on a cycle, but if you do, if everything else is in place, it won't make that much of a difference.
 
I can't imagine how much better the world would be if mind altering substances were never spawned on this earth.

Everyone would have bodybuilder physiques, we wouldn't eat shit, we would conquer the stars and currently be seeding countless worlds with untold amounts of culture and genius.
