alchohol withdrawls

I would definitely recommend against benzodiazepines; their subtlety and unpleasant side-effects make them far too dangerous, and not worth regular use.

Usually i would also recommend against them, but in that case I think it's different... If this guy is telling us the truth, he is drinking 1,5l of Vodka a day!
A benzo addiction (even a heavy one) would be less harmfull at this point I think...

he has lorazepam but has been taking way too much of it along with his drinking and acting really fucked up. i dunno how he is now... but hopefully in a hospital.

well, considering that benzos + alcohol = a deadly combination (especially with the amount that he's drinking), i'd recommend against taking them. he's not going to stop drinking just because he's got benzos, he's just going to take benzos and keep drinking. what he needs is rehab, detox and emotional support. hopefully he's still doing ok.

Why am I even surprised that this thread has four pages?

Prolly because more than a few people see their own experience and feelings reflected and, unfortunately, reenacted.

Word, Guinea. Absolute word.

Post back usda. We're here.

sorry for bringing up the old thread, but the only way i got sober was overdosing.

god the worst part about sobriety is i cant block out how fucking embarrising it must have been to be fucking tackled by the paramedics (who were about to stun gun me i think my dad (a fucking oxy addict who is forcing me sober lifes fair huh?)

then be fucking wheeled out of my apartment strapped in a bed. lol nice scarring shit. i can still smell the disgust kerrigan has from this side of the pond..

^ I thought you said you were being made to see a counsellor? This is the sort of stuff you should be discussing with them. Use the time wisely. You need to learn how to deal with your problems rather than drowning them out with drugs and alcohol, and that's something they should be able to help you with.

i am, but im only going till shit can blow off and i can go back to weed and E, then alcohol once i am not dependant i will be able to control since i am not addicted physically at that point.

ok man, do what you think is right. but dont start another 7 page thread the next time you want to kill yourself..

fuck man, either your gonna get better or your not. and its up to you; but its not about waiting until you can get fucked up again, its about a commitment to yourself, your family, and your friends. if you break that commitment you are hurting all of us, not just yourself.

so dont say you are going to get clean if your not even going to try.

yeah, i know man, ive seen the intervention show before, i know what the doctor said is true i have a severe alcoholism problem and am flirting with opiate addiction (via oxycodone, however i am lucky i am scottish hah and we are cheap its weird i have a natural tolerance for oxy, but im clean for now and working out. ive made 3 posts here before, and im always the same. ive been a daily addict for several things for years and have a self loathing no one can understand. drugs and alcohol help so much, im very fucked as im sure you can see. im sober for 4 days now, but ive damaged myself from doing 8 e's a night at times, doing dxm for almost a month straight (good god thats what unsettles me man my body can take a pounding (i hope), but it will never end simply because i want death. i mean im happy now and i still dont like myself. i NEED to man up, talk to my doc, and give talking it out a shot. or its back to the old weed once a day... multiple times daily.... e.... alcohol.... etc

Correct me if I'm wrong - but your problems with substance abuse don't come solely from dependence or addiction, they come from a desperate desire to get high to escape your problems rather than address them.

That's what you have to solve.
