Agent: I was ordered to let U.S. guns into Mexico

Those .50 cal's will put a hurtin on the person shooting the damn gun too. Ive shot one and ive never had my shoulder hurt so god damn bad hurt worse than going duck hunting and shooting off 200+ rds in a day. And this guy is prolly gonna end up in a box with all history of himself erased from any records for opening his mouth about a very fucked up operation.

^ 200 rounds!? That's not duck hunting, that's duck killing! As for the recoil I guess it depends on the weight of the weapon as well. I would assume it's rather heavy since it's not meant to be carried by infantry as a primary weapon, but Ive never fired one. Biggest gun I have ever fired was a .375 H&H Mag, and that put a hurtin on me, couldn't imagine that bastard.

ATF gunwalking scandal: Second agent speaks out

ATF allegedly encouraged U.S. gun sales to Mexican drug traffickers -- Now there's evidence other agencies knew about program

By Sharyl Attkisson

(CBS News) WASHINGTON - South of El Paso, Texas, on Mexico's side of the border, lies Juarez - the most dangerous city in the world. CBS News investigative correspondent Sharyl Attkisson reports ATF Special Agent Rene Jaquez has been stationed there for the past year, trying to keep U.S. guns from being trafficked into Mexico.

"That's what we do as an agency," Jaquez said. "ATF's primary mission is to make sure that we curtail gun trafficking."

...........

Jaquez is so opposed to the strategy, he's speaking out. "You don't let guns walk. I've never let a gun walk."

Jaquez said, "I think this incidence is probably one of the darkest days in ATF's history."

............

But ATF wasn't working alone on the case known as "Fast and Furious." Documents show ATF had conference calls with "DHS" (Homeland Security). "USMS" (U.S. Marshals) and DEA. An "ICE," or Customs agent, was on ATF's Fast and Furious team. They were advised by an "AUSA," or Assistant U.S. Attorney under the Justice Department.

It gets worse...

Now it looks like it was a huge conspiracy by the highest levels of multiple agencies in federal government 8o

What's ironic is the ATF is supposed to do the exact opposite of this... WTF? Reminds me of the CIA drug running incidents.

^ Nice follow-up on this article Etarded, I wonder who else will speak out, it's easy to silence 1 whistle blower, but 2 (and hopefully more) is a lot more difficult.

IMO the fact that this came out is more surprising than it having happened. And I'm always dumbfounded by people w/ dea/atf being in shock that their agency may have ever been involved in drugs/guns.
/anyone know who they were targetting? (whether trying a sting or, more likely IMO, which rivals they were siding with)

There's lots of corruption inherent in most(all?) gov.'s, I think many see it more as "doing the best they can with what they have". Obviously tho, many see it as a good license for self-enrichment.

DEA confiscates assault rifles from "Fast & Furious"

CBS News has learned that the DEA has confiscated a stash of assault rifles connected to ATF's Fast and Furious operation. It's a major seizure of weapons in the controversial ATF case that's the subject of at least two investigations. Sources say it's believed the suspects intended to take the guns to Mexico.

Sources say DEA accidentally came upon the guns while stopping suspects in an unrelated case in the Phoenix area on April 13th. When agents stopped at least two suspects, they found two giant garbage cans full of dozens of AK-47 type weapons wrapped in cellophane. Sources tell CBS News that a trace on the first weapon showed it was purchased in Nov. 2009 by a suspect in ATF's Fast and Furious case.
