Addiction Codiene

I don't really get prescribing opiates for opiate addiction. I know it's hell/dangerous to come off cold turkey but if you had the self control to wean off the pills and not take more than you should then couldn't you do that will the pills you are already taking? It's like everytime I try to wean off I end up taking more to get high. What I am saying is why not just use the OC or whatever your hooked on to wein off? Whats the difference? I am asking as a question based on curiosity, not to judge. I wish you the best of luck!

^ I'm the same mate- I cannot wean off, 'there's always tomorrow' I tell myself. This is why I believe Sub is a miracle drug, even though you are swapping addictions in a sense. But your swapping to a much better 'medical' source of help. I need to get on it asap, I'm just literally shit scared that my Doc will refuse Sub and take me off codeine and give me clonidine etc. I'm in two minds but my addictions are getting way outa hand and I'll end up taking an OD I can see it.

So it has to stop even without sub.

^
eXACTLY, I get a weeks worth for weining and do it in two days instead. Now I don't even really want to quit. Im not taking much but I can see where it's going. Well good luck getting the Suboxone man....

I also don't think codeine will help, many people don't even feel anything from it, and thats when they don't have an opiate tolerance.

Im thinking becuase codiene is a weak opiate and easy to get off of if i were addicted to it... i could gget addicted to the codiene for a little and taper off this...cuz aint no way im tapering off a 150mg day habit of oxy

its not about feeling it, its about taking my withdraws away and make me mentally semi normal

Codeine WILL help- it's an Opiate. How much it will help is subjective to the person and that person only.

its almost 7pm...i dosed 15mg oxycodone nasally, feeling wAYY better...ive also being blazin thru out the day to ease my mind...def good for the night but a few more bowls of sum N. Lights wont hurt

hahahah
you think tapering with opiates is possible? if so then your a STRONG ass person and props. to most of us that would be a joke. you just eat them all at the highest doses you can till they are gone then you get sick as fuck and when your just about over it you find something and start the cycle again. its fucked up.
if you want to quit JUST QUIT!!!!!! dont put it off. seriously just fuckign do it right now thats the ONLY way to quit doing anything; just stop doing it.

In which way do you help the conversion to morphine Mr Blonde?

Is it GFJ etc?

I have heard conflicting reports on wether to use GFJ or not.
Also does quinine/tums help?

I have seen quite a bit of talk as well, as to whether GFJ has minor CYP2D6 inhibitory effects... most of the scientific literature I've seen says no and that you may even get some increased morphine as less codeine gets metabolized by CYP3A4.

In my experience though grapefruit juice did little for me. Maybe it's because I already have great CYP2D6 enzymes (I get a lot out of codeine) and maybe it's because I'm a lightweight (heh, I get fucked up cheaper that's all ;)) but grapefruit juice never mad my codeine better or any other opioid I've used.

These days I'll just have a glass of wine or a beer about 45 minutes before I dose (alcohol induces CYP2D6), and promethazine is also a favorite of mine to combine with codeine.

As for quinine/tums, they can mos def help with absorption and could be worth a shot.

Okay, so if you can make the transition, if the codeine is strong enough to ease your withdrawls, you almost plan to get addicted to the codeine because it's so much less addicitive than the OC. Interesting concept. Was that your idea or your doctors?

Mr Blonde: One glass of beer or wine can help potentiate? I don't like to get drunk as it ruins the high and is hard on the liver but if one drink 45 min prior makes a difference, I will try it.

^ It has to me, I definitely noticed more of an effect then I do with grapefruit juice. I felt more doped out that's for sure.

I also don't like being drunk during the high... just not that good. :\

Yes I feel the opiates mixed with too much alcohol just make me feel lethargic and more drunk rather than higher. Does that work only with codeine? I am curious about Morphine (MS Contin & Hydrocodone.)

^ It works with codeine because alcohol induces CYP2D6, which converts codeine to morphine.

So wouldn't have the same effect if done with morphine or hydrocodone.

Thank you for your help Mr Blonde! I guess I'm cool where I'm at with it anyways... I don't drink alcohol much anymore. I traded it for opiates. I drink a ton of water now which is probably better anyways. Nice talking to you.. Have a good night.

Cheers Mr Blonde. That is exactly how I find it with GFJ more of a heavy dysphoric high, so I'm knocking that on the head. I've has some great experiences with codeine and well... too much alcohol but that's another story.

These days the max I can drink without feeling dick or feeling like I wanna die the next day is 1-3 drinks so I'm gonna give this a whirl with some pods I'm using until my codeine script arrives although I really need off of it for a while.

So is Diphenhydramine a CYP2D6 inducer.

Which are the common inducers? I'll have a quick search too.
