Addiction and younger siblings

I've never had a seriously bad addiction, i was fairly addicted to oxycodone for about two to three months, but i didn't let anyone know about it. My sister does smoke weed, but before that, whenever i would let on that i was high, she would not talk to me or acknowledge me. Thankfully, that's all changed now and we are as tight as ever. I love my sis!
 
Got one younger brother 10 years my junior. He's still too young, I've had some history with addiction although not too serious IMO. I hope my little bro never gets his hands on cocaine, the kid gets jacked as hell from a Red Bull!
 
Oldest, smartest, I have an extensive history ofn drug use but only minor addiction problems (opioids), my younger sibling is straight-edge. Go figure, lolol.
 
I'm youngest and have quite a history of poly drug abuse however i've never been addicted to any drug per se. Thank god for lack of availability.

I've been asked to goto rehab after ODing once on a psychedelic, but my mom knew that i'm not a habitual drug user, except for with weed. I just use any drug sometimes, not every drug (or one drug) all the time.
 
Im the oldest sibling and am the one with an addiction to opiates/Heroin, Iv done pretty much every drug there is but only have a love affair with Heroin. My younger brother has smoked his share of weed, tried some phycidelics and drinks socialy but in no way is he addicted. Both my parents are the youngest siblings from their famlies growing up and are both pretty sucssesful, I know they have done drugs before, but they only smoke weed ocasionaly now. I dont think they ever had an addiction problem to anything, maybe thats why they took my H addiction so hard.
 
I am the youngest and biggest fuck up, although the second youngest was a a fuck up too, I'm just worse. The next oldest was a little bit better, and the first born is an angel.
 
both my older brother and I are fuck ups and poly drug abusers/addicts. We have both had our stint with alcoholism and (moreso for me) a good while dependent on oxycodone. I think he has had a problem with cocaine, but i havent. Its wierd...we both live within a quarter mile of each other and work at the same place...haha. Its cool tho:D

Studies show that older siblings usually score a little higher on IQ tests, and psychology tells us that they presumably are more "responsible".

Can this be related to addiction? Are addicts more likely to be younger siblings than older?

My brother was into DRUGS BAD my MIDDLE BROTHER a VERY BAD HEROIN ADDICT WHICH TOOK HIS LIFE LAST OCTOBER 16th.. I seemed to HAVE FOLLOWED IN HIS FOOTSTEPS AND MY OLDEST BRO was the PERFECT ONE.
I think it's more of a YOUNG BRO/MIDDLE BRO mixture that always has the problems.. and the OLDEST is always the BEST.
 
I'd say there is no compelling evidence to suggest that younger siblings being addicted is nothing more than a coincidence. If anything, the polls show the opposite - that the older siblings are more prone to addiction. Anyway I don't think the age and position amongst siblings alone has anything to do with addiction.
 
I'm the oldest of three. I have two younger sisters one 17 and the other 11. I've been a dabbler all through high school and now am having a problem with opiates. I've been to rehab twice for cocaine, blah blah blah. So yeah I'm the oldest and the most fucked up.

My old man just recently got off of crack/meth, and oxy/whatever else he could score. My younger sisters are terrified of ending up like him or me, and as such don't even like when my mother has a beer or two, or when I go out for a night of drinking. So hopefully, they'll stay clean and sober, the middle sister won't even smoke a joint with me....which is awesome. I don't know about the youngest though, shes showing a lot of the same fascination with drugs as I did at that age, and she is as introverted as I was. I guess time will tell....
 
im the youngest of 2, i wouldnt call myself a fuck up since i do well in school and stay out of trouble.

however, ill smoke weed, drink alcohol, and take ecstasy but i never been caught or been in any trouble while under the influence.

my brother on the otherhand, i know he doesnt do drugs, he used to drink and been caught a couple of times.
 
Middle child. Only one who's actually enjoyed pot and wanted to do it besides just when at parties and such.

The only one dumb enough to go looking for trouble, but the one with the best grades and most promise.

The family fuck up, yet never willing to stop working against it.
 
I'm the oldest, always thought I'd be the good child and my sister would fuck everything up. Turns out I had the honors of doing so. She's 16, only drank. Never touched any other drug ( considering alcohol a drug), and doesn't plan on it. When I went to rehab I'd never seen someone so disappointed and angry at me in my life. =/ We're half sisters though, and her father's side of the family doesn't have near the history of addiction/alcoholism that mine does. =o

my older brother fucked around in high school with pot and shrooms and other stuff. he only got into college because he is a national championship diver and won the ncaa's for cal state. he eventually had to transfer out because aparently the whole dive team smoked meth.

i thought he was stupid and i became the golden child. until i got introduced to oxy at baylor university and got kicked out and started using almost everything when i moved home.

my sister is now the golden child and is about to leave for univ of washington. but, she totaled her christmas present, an '08 ford ranger, because she had been drinking. but she still gets a subaru impreza with the insurance.

i'm the only one that hasn't totaled any cars and still drive a fucking buick. i guess it makes up for the 32 grand blown in tuition and the 16 for rehab.

i just hope she doesn't take my parent's generosity for granted.
 
Oldest and the only one to get addicted to anything, turned things around though for the most part.

Still, I hate to look back and realize how much of a bad influence I was on my younger brother. He's a senior in high school and one time a little over a year ago, he drove out to visit me where I was living and I introduced him to pot and cocaine both in the same night.

He'd never done any drugs before (besides getting drunk with friends). He tells me to this day he didn't like either one and hasn't touched them since, and I believe him (that he hasn't used them, not that he didn't like them. That I doubt.) He's much smarter than I was at that age and is sticking to a better path. But I've got this fear embedded in me that that fateful night triggered a voice inside him that's just waiting to start yelling. Fuck, if that happens I'll never forgive myself. Never.

I don't have many regrets, but that's one I hold on to for sure. Goddamnit.
 
Younger sibling here, All I know is my brother smoked some weed when he was younger. I saw him smoking when i was like 4. other than weed i think hes been clean seeing as drugs were a lot harder to come by in my town 10 years ago than now, well except for weed of course. And if you know the right kids you can get anything now, except maybe some cid'.

So He never became an addict. I was close to becoming an addict of poppy tea but luckily i controlled my usage to every other day or 2 until I ran out of that shit.

I think addiction is with the person and the drug used. I believe it has no correlation to being a younger/older sibling, but thats just my opinion =)
