What we all need is to fill our gaps. With love, family, friends, hobbies/interests and most of all HOPE. Always have something to look forward to. Have goals. It's surprising how many people don't have a clue what they're doing in life or the week or even for the the next day. Start with days. Write stuff down on list or a calender. For example: Make a plan to get a cup up green tea with the dog and buy some fruit and or watch your favorite show or read a book after dinner. That's my biggest hurdle. I just forget to do it and kinda play be ear too much.

For those of you that are grasping for life itself read on. I've tried all the antidepressants. Paxil, Zoloft, Welbutrin, and too many to remember. The one medication I recently found that works for energy and focus is Adderall (very dangerous though because its Amphetamines) but if you've wasted your resources and have run out of options then it may work for you. Yes, it's the one you've been hearing about college kids cramming for tests on. Do your own research then take it to your doctor to discuss. Wait though, there is a huge trick to this type of medication that even the drug companies or pharmacists are not telling you/me ! Listen carefully! This med is for ADHD(Attention Deficit / Hyperactivity Disorder). So it's actually used for two opposite symptoms. When you read the warnings on the pharmacy package it says "foods high in acid can greatly affect absorption of this medication." That doesn't mean good or bad though does it? I think they are purposefully vague because of 1. MONEY and 2. It depends on the individual and what you need it for. The trick on this drugs effect is DIET. If your digestive tract is high in acids the medication does NOT absorb well and makes you mellow, tired and foggy. This would be ok for the Hyper Activity in kids right. (BTW I would never let a kid of mine try something as dangerous as these Amphetamines) The other symptom being Attention Deficit Disorder works the opposite If the digestive tract is less acidic and higher in alkaline. The medication will then ABSORB into the body faster and you will feel energetic, focused and less depressed. Beware! It's highly addictive and has very high danger of abuse. One last thing. The last related medication I recommend trying is one part of Adderall called Dexedrine (Dextro-Amphetamine). It's 1 of 4 Amphetamine Salts that make up Adderall. Still dangerous and has the same addictive qualities but it's a mellower feeling with more tolerable energy levels. Look this up on any search website. "Dexedrine or Adderall with a high Acid or Alkaline diet". You'll learn a lot about diets and how the body balances not only the medications but food nutrients. Its truly amazing and I think our kids should be learning this in grade school. Better to go natural if you can but If you're on lifes edge then consider this medication with your doctor. Here is a site with lists of measured acid or alkaline foods that I look at all the time now. I hope I helped at least one of you from my experience :D

No offense but you're telling a drug forum about a very well known drug.. with nothing new to add.

I'm glad you found something that works for you, though.

+ I'm not really sure your theory on acid for adhd and alkali for add is really true.. if that were the case.. there'd be 2 different medicines.. 1 with something like tums in the pill and 1 with somethin like vinegar in it (?) for the different illnesses.

It is true though.. amphetamine is metabolised and moved to your bladder alot quicker in an acidic environment.

Sounds like a blog post, rather than a question (or anything like a question). Close this perhaps?

As said though - glad to hear you found something that works for you. Adderall IS great. I use it (if I can...) daily, and now go through a terrible withdrawal when I run out (as I no longer am prescribed stims due to my *very* low weight). So ...cheers (?).

Thanks Bud! Not at all. It's true I've been experimenting with some success and I've been up and down these pages trying to get the info I was looking for and it wasn't all here. Some people like the foggy feeling of Add with juice and acidic foods, drinks etc. but some don't. personally bicarbonates in water is not for me but I like the affect so I eat green foods and drink water. Some like D- Amp and some think it's not euphoric enough. Some have no idea what Alkaline Ash is either. Just giving my 2 cents from my own real life experience and on what I've read because I feel it's not clearly described on one of thousands of threads on this site and many others. I did this so someone else like me can learn what I learned without the hassle I went through to find it out. I also hope others here don't get offended because they know everything there is to know on the subject. If its old to them they'll move on. If it helps 1 person I'll be happy. My doctor actually encouraged me to write about the experiences I was reporting back to her. Not the most educated Doc but shes good at working with me. Wish I would have found it sooner.

Yes, my big ass has been more manageable.. I'll see what happens.. You're right too about being more of a blog. Just wanted some feedback since I recently discovered this info. Its'getting pretty negative so I guess it's common knowledge here. Sorry to bug .. oh well!

I've read that its absorbed into the body faster and lasts longer with more alkaline. It's processed and passes through the body faster with higher acids. I had pasta about 4 hrs before dosing my new script and was a bit foggy and I was pissed because it wasn't working after doubling my dose. I called the pharmacy and my Doc asking what the hell. At that point I just stopped eating anything so I'd feel it. Then I'd eat to sleep at night. Had to find it with the help of Bluelight and others like below. I also wonder since Adderall IR is a mix of 4 different amp salts that maybe they're designed to act with the PH balance in the body. Don't know bout that with IR. I've never tried the XR due to cost but here's what I found on Wiki.

Adderall's effects are similar to other CNS stimulants of the same class and preparation. (See amphetamine for details.)

Urinary and stomach pH levels can have a strong effect on DL-amphetamine excretion and absorption.[9] An acidic stomach and GI pH will decrease the absorption of Adderall,[10] and acidic urine levels will decrease the reabsorption of the drug through the renal system.[11] Co-administration of acidic substances (e.g., citric acid) causes decreased renal reabsorption of DL-amphetamine, whereas alkaline agents (e.g., antacids) may cause a marked increase in renal tubular reabsorption. The increased reabsorption can increase the retention of amphetamines, with potential to result in dangerously high serum levels.[11]
[edit] Adderall XR

To be specific, Adderall XR consists of the following amphetamine compounds in equal proportions: dextroamphetamine saccharate, dextroamphetamine sulfate, racemic amphetamine aspartate monohydrate, and racemic amphetamine sulfate.[1] Breakdown rates are affected by many factors including urinary and stomach pH,[9][10] weight, gender, other medications being taken, and age. Alkalinity increases bioavailability, and acidity causes the drug to be excreted sooner. Manufacturers claim that the mixture of salts in Adderall XR makes its effects smoother (that is, makes softer highs and lows).[12] The mixture of salts and their ratios are as follows:

* 1/4 dextroamphetamine saccharate
* 1/4 dextroamphetamine sulfate
* 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine aspartate monohydrate
* 1/4 (racemic dextro/levo-)amphetamine sulfate

These four salts are metabolized at different rates and possess diverse half lives[citation needed], thereby resulting in a less dramatic onset and termination of therapeutic action, as compared to single-salt amphetamine preparations.[citation needed] The average elimination half-life in adults for dextroamphetamine and levoamphetamine is 10 hours and 13 hours, respectively.[13]
