Actor Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead of Apparent Overdose

damn I didnt even see the second page im not gonna lie my bad

totally understand what happened now, the guy died of a speedball

coke was definitely a decent part of that 1200

a lot of people die with needles in their arms, you can nod out in a matter of seconds when you IV too much at once

idk I saw something about "unidentified white powder" earlier and it said a narc told police the sax player sold him both heroin and coke and it couldnt have been THAT expensive for just dope

media is shoddy though, but my money is on speedball. just not 10,000 dollars

This is totally true with H.. but I have never seen a SB or iv coke OD where this was possible.. not saying it cant happen.. just think it unlikely.. as a seizure or outright panic usually hits.. this is what I thought when I read that report initially as well.. but then I have come to think no way.

^I agree, it has a very douchey know it all tone to it...

PSH died from an accidental overdose...Sorry, he did "too much heroin"...Had he done less he'd still be alive! Recovering addicts that have been clean sometimes turn into the biggest assholes. It's like they have this smoldering anger towards anyone that gets high recreationally. Addiction is fairly simple. I shot heroin for 16 years....why? Because it's incredibly pleasureable....I was aware of the negative consequences, but the craving to get high outweighed all that in my mind. It's no different than someone who cheats on their husband or wife but still loves them. They do it for the sex, the feeling...They know the risks, but they do it anyway. Just about anyone is capable of becoming addicted to heroin. I'm sorry, I just don't buy that it's a disease. The whole "disease concept" has basically become a marketing tool for the recovery industry. Once you're off the drugs, you either have the maturity and fortitude to not go back to it and get burned again, or you give in.

People who are depressed, lonely and bored or going through a personal crisis are much more likely to turn to drugs and possibly become addicted. But the idea that only people with a "disease" develop drug problems is complete BS, in my opinion.

Edit: $10,000 a month on heroin alone is a huge amount that requires a lot of binge using to even come close to being able to physicvally handle. I used $300 a day of heroin, but it took me 3 years of heavy use to get there. Its not like cocaine where sky's the limit. You could get there in a year if you went balls to the wall and didn't die before your tolerance got there, but there's no way someone who just relapsed was doing 10,000 a month.

Also, this whole "Heroin's cheap but Hoff wasn't doing the cheap shit..". Umm, he was doing NYC stamp bags, like everyone else...The dope in NYC is all around pretty good...I guess that guy just had to make it sound like he was doing "special heroin"....

10,000 on Oxy is believable...with the outrageous prices being charged, but not heroin...I have a friend who uses in the neighborhood of $400 a day, but that's five years of daily use...and he has the money to do however much, so something doesn't add up here...Either he was doing it For a lot longer than being said, or this guy in the article is "dicksizing" and promoting recovery at the same time....

I know that $10,000 a month is possible in Aus, I've done it. But in the U.S. it does seem kinda high.
