Abbot

I'm not Australian so Couldn't really give too shits to be honest.

The labor won the by election with a large swing against them. I don't know how you judge the results from that. But you would probably know that if you didn't cherry pick your current events information

i hope erryone that voted for rabbit is made to work weekends and nights without penalty rates.

Very irony-laden response there.
Not an Aussie? Bit of a cop-out, mate.
You seem rather invested in the result, regardless.

Swing against the ALP or not - the fact that they managed to hold the seat after all of the previous sitting member's egotism, media-leaks against his colleagues, dishonesty, hypocrisy, backstabbing and general sliminess is actually pretty interesting.

My amateur analysis of the outcome is that a majority of the good people of your electorate are appalled by the Numan State Govt's police state, the Abbott govt's horrendous multifaceted agenda (and the threat to Qld's most precious natural asset - the Great Barrier Reef); or perhaps the by-election was won-and-lost on local issues that are of little consequence to me.

Either way - sucked in, mate!

Fuck the greedy mining industry and the LNP corporate boys' club.
Abbott is a huge liability to his thug cronies - i look forward to seeing more of the same in upcoming elections.
Winning power is one thing - maintaining it is something these dimwits are thankfully ill-equipped for.

Abbott couldn't organise a sexual liaison between Chris Pyne and Alan Jones!

The people are waking up - realising they've been had by the media and phony Tony's endless bullyboy rhetoric.
History won't be kind to these swine IMO.
As the anti-fracking campaigners say - LOCK THE GATE
(and don't let these Tory crooks in again!)

Is that even supposed to actually mean something?
"Cherry picking current events information"? Duh - what?!
Once again, you're too worked up to formulate a logical argument.

So...when you go picking cherries, you pluck the overripe, rancid ones on the tree, do ya?
I guess that's a pretty good analogy for voting for Clive Palmer; big, overdone, poisonous lumps of shit that emits poisonous rotten crap.

Yes, I followed the by-election with interest - and fuck yeah, I'm selective about what bullshit media I expose myself to. The mainstream media is just fluff, propaganda and cognitive effluent.
Of course I'm discerning about what I read!
Any other way of consuming media is essentially impossible in 2014.
I know such logic is lost on you though - you called me a "hipster" for not watching telly a couple of days ago...
It's not the 50s any more, busty. Television is bullshit.
Or do you get your "current events information" from the newsreel down at the local talkies theatre? If you're trying to imply - again - that I'm a single-interest, naive, political fool; I'd take a look in the mirror first, chum. I've been fighting these reactionary cunts since I was but a high school punk.

It is very rare, if not unheard of for the sitting government to not have a swing against them in any by election. There have been 146 by-elections, only 35 (24%) resulted in a seat changing hands, of which only five have been lost by the Opposition of the day (3.4%), and only one has been won from the Opposition by the Government, being Kalgoorlie in 1920. The fact there was a swing against labor, particularly given the anti Newman sentiment is actually quite telling.

Believe it or not Labor wouldn't be elected in Qld if they held the election tomorrow no matter what your alternative media tells you.

My amateur analysis .

You said it.

Amateur = I'm not a professional pollster and neither are you.
"My alternative media"?
Your presumptuous claims make your arguments extremely hollow. When did I say *anything* about predicting what Queenslanders would vote?
Your assumptions about the by-election in Griffith were wrong.
Try to deflect attention from that all you like...it's rather pathetic and ignorant.

For example;

Oh really?

You two have been enjoying arguing with each other for years now.

Maybe you should both meet up and share a six pack and a big joint or something.

"Enjoying" is pushing it.
I've just never met anyone in real life that votes conservative;it's infinitely fascinating to see him tie himself in knots attempting to support his position.

Crooked like a fucking pretzel!

Where? Here:
The bikies have bought this upon themselves. Up until now, most criminal organisations went about their business in a more candastine manner. It was called the underworld because their illegal activities took place away from prying eyes and did not affect the common man. Bad things went on but as long as joe blog was not involved the police turned a blind eye. Lately these gangs have used the communal streets as their own, fighting, shooting and causing mayhem, not just between themselves but often involving innocent bystanders. I have even seen them arrogantly declare that they own the streets, not the government. I'm afraid you are wrong. We own the street, and we have tolerated your presence only because we generally couldn't give two shits about your childish mentality. Once you start brawling around our kids and start shooting regular people on the streets, we will unleash the forces that we actually voted for to serve and protect us to round you up and drive you out of town. It's too late to cry about being discriminated against. If you were smart you would have kept quiet and stayed anonymous.

Scott Ludlam <3

Busty? No thanks. Dentists are creepy, donchyathink?

I watched that speech to the senate before - fucking fantastic.
Senator Ludlam was part of the crew I mixed with back in the day - and he's probably the best politician this fucking country has.
Fighting the good fight.

Thats a big stretch space junk. If you really want to know I voted for the Pirate party because their candidate looked like she was down to fuck.

I try to think the best of people; but twits like you with your ever-lurking sexist twaddle just get fucking boring after 5 minutes
I spose you think that makes you "fun" or lighthearted.
Read the above-quoted "bikies! won't-somebody-think-of-the-children?! post to contradict that entirely.

Tony Abbott is a creepy, useless weasel.
...bit like a dentist on a Harm Reduction forum ;)

The last Qld state election saw the Labor government fall from 44 odd seats to 7. That's right the opposition in Qld only holds 7 seats in parliament to the governments 78. Now either the Qld public are all brainwashed conservatives or Labor were terrible. The worst government since Federation it seems. I'll let you in on a little secret, they were so corrupt and incompetent that even their Union backers wouldn't vote for them. Voting for a party because of historical socio economic history is backward and something you would find in hillbilly towns in America.

But of course you would know all this because you boycott any mainstream media. Newman may have a few tattooed motorcyclists up in arms but reality is it will be a couple of election before Labor come close to clawing back the massive swing against them.
