Yea, fuck Michigan!
Well, not really. I do love the wilderness, the five great lakes, the rugged, rocky terrain in the western UP, and the summers.
The winters are tooooooooo fucking long! It snows from October until April, and I have to move it out of my 200-yard long driveway! You can go cross-country skiing (they even had the US Nationals here for two years in a row), but it's not much fun if it's below 20 degrees Fahrenheit or if the wind is blowing at thirty MPH (or both).
There is about twenty hours of daylight in the height of the summer, but only eight hours in the darkness of winter. Spring lasts one week and starts at the end of May.
In short, Michigan (and especially the UP) is a nice place to be for three months out of the year.
cheers,
Bob
