Background
I've been interested in neuropharmacology for quite some time now, and after extensive research am ready to begin experimentation with various nootropics.
While there is plenty of research on these substances individually (and in popular combinations), because of their synergistic effects and dramatic disparity in optimal effective dose from person to person, I think further experimentation is warranted.
I am not a doctor, nor do I have any professional or accredited background in these fields--I am merely a pragmatic individual with an avid curiosity for self-experimentation and the human potential. It's my hope that those on this board with such backgrounds will be able to assist in this experiment by providing such insight that I do not have. With any luck that will reduce the number of experiments necessary, and also preclude any potentially dangerous combinations.

First Steps & Questions
As I begin to experiment with each of these compounds individually (save for ALCAR, Lecithin, and ALA which I consider to be general potentiators), I will log their effects at various dosages and attempt to discover the dose for each individual compound that produces optimal effects.
That said, I'm hoping someone with the appropriate background will be able to shed light on some of the following questions:
Additionally, any medical/research studies done on combinations of the above that have proven to be either a) synergistically effective or b) potentially dangerous is appreciated. Finally, some compounds that I did not include on that list but have access too if there is enough interest (if you have insight on these as well, it is also appreciated):
Edit: FYI the order was placed Wednesday so it will likely be 10-14 days (conservative) before testing begins

My Objectives
- To identify & quantify the cognitive effects experienced on each Nootropic compound individually
- To identify synergistic relationships between Nootropic compounds (using available medical literature and resources to avoid testing every possible permutation)
- To identify the optimal effective dose for each Nootropic compound individually
- To identify the optimal effective dose for each Nootropic compound in identified/known/proposed effective stacks
My Arsenal
- Cerebrolysin
- Aniracetam (Ampamet - 1-[(4-methoxybenzoyl)]- 2-pyrrolidinone)
- Piracetam (Nootropil - 2-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide)
- Hydergine (Novartis - Ergoloid mesylates)
- Picamilone (Pikamilon - nicotinoyl-GABA)
- Acetyl L-Carnitine
- Lecithin (Phosphatidyl Choline)
- Alpha-Lipoic Acid
First Steps & Questions
As I begin to experiment with each of these compounds individually (save for ALCAR, Lecithin, and ALA which I consider to be general potentiators), I will log their effects at various dosages and attempt to discover the dose for each individual compound that produces optimal effects.
That said, I'm hoping someone with the appropriate background will be able to shed light on some of the following questions:
- For each of the above, how long should I run a consistent dose in order to (pharmacologically) achieve the maximum effects from the compound? For example, while Aniracetam seems to produce immediate effects, I've seen several reports (though nothing of medical nature) of Hydergine taking several weeks to build in one's system before desired effects are achieved.
- In order to get a more quantitative assessment of effects (as opposed to my experience-based conclusions), can anyone recommend quality cognitive performance tests (preferably online, however I will design them myself if necessary) that will help me measure things such as short-term memory, long-term memory, verbal recall/acuity, spatial awareness, and abstract intellectual ability? (Note: I will control for other factors as best as possible, including time of day, sleep schedule, and diet)
Additionally, any medical/research studies done on combinations of the above that have proven to be either a) synergistically effective or b) potentially dangerous is appreciated. Finally, some compounds that I did not include on that list but have access too if there is enough interest (if you have insight on these as well, it is also appreciated):
- Oxiracetam (seems to be just another analog of Piracetam though not as effective as Aniracetam and thus seemed rather uninteresting)
- Selegiline (left out due to potential dangers, especially given my age [20])
- Centrophenoxiine (unable to find enough literature to support its efficacy)
Edit: FYI the order was placed Wednesday so it will likely be 10-14 days (conservative) before testing begins
