Background

I've been interested in neuropharmacology for quite some time now, and after extensive research am ready to begin experimentation with various nootropics.

While there is plenty of research on these substances individually (and in popular combinations), because of their synergistic effects and dramatic disparity in optimal effective dose from person to person, I think further experimentation is warranted.

I am not a doctor, nor do I have any professional or accredited background in these fields--I am merely a pragmatic individual with an avid curiosity for self-experimentation and the human potential. It's my hope that those on this board with such backgrounds will be able to assist in this experiment by providing such insight that I do not have. With any luck that will reduce the number of experiments necessary, and also preclude any potentially dangerous combinations.

"In theory, practice and theory are the same. In practice, they are not." -AE

My Objectives
  • To identify & quantify the cognitive effects experienced on each Nootropic compound individually
  • To identify synergistic relationships between Nootropic compounds (using available medical literature and resources to avoid testing every possible permutation)
  • To identify the optimal effective dose for each Nootropic compound individually
  • To identify the optimal effective dose for each Nootropic compound in identified/known/proposed effective stacks

My Arsenal
  • Cerebrolysin
  • Aniracetam (Ampamet - 1-[(4-methoxybenzoyl)]- 2-pyrrolidinone)
  • Piracetam (Nootropil - 2-(2-oxopyrrolidin-1-yl)acetamide)
  • Hydergine (Novartis - Ergoloid mesylates)
  • Picamilone (Pikamilon - nicotinoyl-GABA)
  • Acetyl L-Carnitine
  • Lecithin (Phosphatidyl Choline)
  • Alpha-Lipoic Acid

First Steps & Questions

As I begin to experiment with each of these compounds individually (save for ALCAR, Lecithin, and ALA which I consider to be general potentiators), I will log their effects at various dosages and attempt to discover the dose for each individual compound that produces optimal effects.

That said, I'm hoping someone with the appropriate background will be able to shed light on some of the following questions:

  • For each of the above, how long should I run a consistent dose in order to (pharmacologically) achieve the maximum effects from the compound? For example, while Aniracetam seems to produce immediate effects, I've seen several reports (though nothing of medical nature) of Hydergine taking several weeks to build in one's system before desired effects are achieved.
  • In order to get a more quantitative assessment of effects (as opposed to my experience-based conclusions), can anyone recommend quality cognitive performance tests (preferably online, however I will design them myself if necessary) that will help me measure things such as short-term memory, long-term memory, verbal recall/acuity, spatial awareness, and abstract intellectual ability? (Note: I will control for other factors as best as possible, including time of day, sleep schedule, and diet)

Additionally, any medical/research studies done on combinations of the above that have proven to be either a) synergistically effective or b) potentially dangerous is appreciated. Finally, some compounds that I did not include on that list but have access too if there is enough interest (if you have insight on these as well, it is also appreciated):

  • Oxiracetam (seems to be just another analog of Piracetam though not as effective as Aniracetam and thus seemed rather uninteresting)
  • Selegiline (left out due to potential dangers, especially given my age [20])
  • Centrophenoxiine (unable to find enough literature to support its efficacy)

Edit: FYI the order was placed Wednesday so it will likely be 10-14 days (conservative) before testing begins

this looks like an very interesting thread developing. in mids of an nootropic experimentation myself and likewise found available data inconclusive, your thread could be used later on for research. in 2100 or so .

nootropia my purpose differs from yours, mainly after brain recovery after stress related malfuntions, but i will try to follow this one thread. my own search led me to ayurvedic herbs which i would like to point out to you too. my opinion was that the medically developed/ pure cristals were most promising. now i am leaning more toward the herbs especially ayurveda with its documentation and availability, although phosphatidylserine had a. profound OR b. profound placebo effect on my memory and more.

currently on
piracetam 1600mg
acetyl-l-carnitine 700mg
lecithine triple strenght
ginkgo biloba 200mg
ashwaghanda 4.5% 1350 mg
alpha-gpc

I think this thread has potential and will thrive in BDD rather than HL...

very interested to follow.

have you considered using piracetam as well? i'm interested to see if there are any synergies with aniracetam.

deprenyl (Selegiline) might be worthwhile to try if you do some more research into it to try and make things as safe as possible. Additionally Modafinil has shown some significant promise as a nootropic. Due to modafinil being prescription, you could try adrafinil which is prodrug of modafinil.

Anyway, this looks to be a very promising study, and I'm eager to see the results coming in.

First off, that took longer than I expected. Also worth noting, the day following my order I was informed that vasopressin was no longer stocked, and instead decided to opt for some Cerebrolysin (pig-brain protein/peptide derivative) about which I've heard of some impressive results.

Baseline Statistics

EXPERIMENT 1: Cerebrolysin
Dosing Schedule: 5ml via I.M. injection (2.5ml split) every other day for 10 days (11:00AM), followed by a 2-week break, then a second cycle
Cognitive Assessment: GIGI & Lumosity Assessments following each cycle

Day 1
So far T+2:20 from first injection and though subtle, I definitely feel more coherent and capable. Too early to tell if it's a placebo; Will update this post with new information throughout the day.

T+4:00 Feeling somewhat lethargic, but my mind is extremely clear. Did some cognitive assessment tests on Lumosity just for fun, though no statistically significant data was found--BPI ranged from ~850-1300 which confirms my suspicions that it's a far from ideal method of cognitive assessment. Anyone have any recommendations aside to analyze abstract thought capacity, spacial awareness, memory, and critical thinking skills online?

T+8:00 Energy has picked up, had a long phone conversation earlier and didn't notice a dramatic increase in verbal fluency, however it's still day one of testing and reports show it can take a few doses of CRB for it to build in your system before the effects become pronounced. I'm feeling markedly different, but it's difficult to define--sharp and alert, no identifiable side effects, but nonetheless different.

Day 2
T+1:00 Noticeable increase in clarity & alertness... Feeling motivated, ready to approach a complex programming dilemma I've been procrastinating on for weeks. Worth noting is a strong anxiolytic effect--everything seems to pass by more smoothly and I feel more in tune with the natural rhythm of things. Intriguing.

I found piracetam to be most effective in conjunction with caffeine. 800-1600mg in the morning with coffee produced a subjectively stronger motivational effect with less peripheral stimulation.

I also find that this combo can do wonders for motivation and ability to focus.

I think that while being such a young your brains are still developing and adding substances might do harm for your cognitive progression. Also having such a high cognitive ability if the statement of having IQ of 151 is correct those substances would not improve it in in scientifically measurable amounts as the test results vary a little bit because of natural conditions, mood and alternation of questions and tasks.

Also having only one subject to deal with is not going to add any scientifically value.

Hi nootropia, welcome to Bluelight.

This kind of stuff doesn't belong in BDD, it belongs in your blog.
