So I ran into a little extra cash recently and decided to treat myself when I went grociery shopping, I usually spend as little money as possible (10 tombstone pizza's and a gallon of milk) but this time I bought some really nice "apple smoked gruyere cheese" some really nice marinara basil pasta sauce and spaghetti. I shredded the cheese over the pasta and threw on some crushed red peppers. It was seriously the best meal I have had in a LONG time.

My school actually has a really good culinary program, I'm thinkin about taking a class or two just for the hell of it.

However, I am watching the Chicago episode of "man vs. food" and it is really making me want some real deep dish pizza, preferably Lou Malnati's. WHY CAN'T PEOPLE OUTSIDE OF CHICAGO TELL THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN DEEP DISH AND "THICK CRUST"
AHHHHHHH

I know we have some Chi-folk on this board that can attest

Nothing more rewarding than a fat slice of Lou Malnati's pizza. Giordanos is really good too but I think Malnati's has better sauce. For good non deep dish pizza in Chicago, I go to Bricks and get the Ditka. Every meat you can think of and spicy as hell. Man, I'm hungry now, might order some Giordanos as we have one in DeKalb.

I've never had Bricks, but when I'm in town I'll have to try it. Where exactly is it? For some reason, which I cannot pinpoint, I just am not that big of a fan of giordano's. Now, that I think about it I can't decide if I prefer Lou's, gino's east, or papa del's (only in Urbana).

It's right near North Lincoln, Lincoln Park West and Wisconsin, one of those goofy intersections. Real close to Lincoln Park and where the St. Valentine's Massacre happened. It's below ground level, its pretty cool.

Edit: Papa Dels is pretty dank.

PHEW!!!! Wow, guise. Just......wow.....

I seriously almost just got arrested....

Bro calls me up and says hes got two of these blue mahjongs left (also called blue RDS, blue tomahawk, blue hatchet, heard a bunch of diff names for these pills), so I go to meet him at a gas station close by that just happens to be in the fucken hood. Place is crawling with cops who basically just pull out of nowhere and start harassing us like crazy. They blind us with their lights and ask us all forcefully "why are you here??" (like wtf does that mean? i thought we were supposed to be able to go anywhere we want, its a free country n shit) and I just kinda shrug and say "we were just getting sodas."

After all we were in front of a convenience store...

...those pills were in my pocket and they were just burning a hole through me, I was so nervous..

....and the fucken cop just says....."Ok, sorry" and they drive away.

Moral of story: cherish your freedom, PD fam! And don't do anything stupid like me and cruise to the hood at night to buy droogz.

Good to hear you didn't get picked up Roger.. Cops can be assbags sometimes, they could of wrecked your whole day.

^They could have wrecked everything, man. (ecstasy is a felony in texas for even 1 pill i think) I don't even know what we were doing wrong; I guess they must have seen me get out of my car and get into his..

Haha my neighborhood is like a 3 minute drive from the hood. There's no cops in my neighborhood; never even seen one really. But the second you pull into the hood they're everywhere.

DMT has really fucked with me during periods of abuse

Out of curiosity, how would you define "abuse" of DMT? And to follow that question, in your experience what is a healthy rate of usage? Of course, it's pretty subjective - I'm just wondering what your views are.

Wish I could interact with my fellow PDer's but fractals are making it hard to read. Just made beautiful love with a wonderful beautiful woman who just recently left so I thought I'd check up with my internet family. Happy trails to PD, and LoVe To AlL

Good morning PD :D

I was just watching a cool document... they made a monkey control a robotic arm with it's thoughts!

I cant be 100% sure but I believe he is talking about opiate abuse or something of that nature. DMT loves you! Opiates hate you... DMT likes to gently or forcefully remind you of that. ;)<3

I love ya'll!! Have fun in Florida Charlie!! did INGVS beckon you down there?? Hes a wonderful soul! <3

^Quite good, a bit stressed- got my arse kicked for being slack at work or something (I'm not urgent enough apparently- wtf?)- basically, I am close to being fired. Seiously sick of this shit- I just can't or won't make small talk or talk shop 24/7 as its useless to me. When I asked my damn boss to explain to me what ACTIONS I was doing wrong, he stumbled about and basically said that its more an "attitude" thing. Also- WTF? So I am close to losing this job, not because I do bad work or something; but because I don't do it with enough intensity. Fuck that- I'm thinkin that as its a small business pretty much getting run into the ground, they might just wanna save money. At least, I hope its that and not me, because I honestly have no idea how to change my urgency levels. :\

You know, the economy around the world is receding... it probably is because they have to cut some people. That does suck though. :( I know how happy you are to be working.

So I have been hangin with this really cool girl lately, we saw a a couple shows over the weekend and even drove an hour and a half to fort collins on the spur of the moment to see cornmeal two days in a row, it's really exciting being with her. I think she's kinda my girlfriend, but we'll see where things go, either way I'm on top of the world right now

Hey man, that's awesome. It sounds like you guys are friends first, more than friends second. That's how it was with me and my wife... we met when we were 18 at the beginning of college and from then on we just basically hung out all the time, whenever we didn't have things to do. We met before winter break and then right when we got back to school we started hanging out more often, and then after 2 weeks of going to parties and hanging out wqith our friends together, we became official while we were on a road trip to the Mississippi River. And now we've been together for 7 years, we're married, and we own a house together. :) My point is, it's awesome to have a girl who's your friend.

:( karma is sad again... I kept getting led on by jobs.

I landed a PT waitressing job and I was all stoked to start tomorrow and they just called to let me know that they "wont be needing me" Such bullshit! I dont deserve these emotional curve balls that kept getting thrown my way.

I wish it was summer... fuck the snow. Im off to some benzos myself.

Aw, karma... I'm thinking it's for the best. You'll find out what you're supposed to be doing soon. :) And Spring is just around the corner. I know I always feel better once winter is over.

Hell yeah! Chicago-style deep dish is a totally different thing. You pretty much have to eat it with a knife and fork. But people outside of Chicago don't know the difference because they have no way of knowing... it really only exists in the Chicago area. I've even gone to a Gino's in another state and it's not the same there even though it's supposed to be. So it's really not their fault.

The New Yorkers always try to hate on Chicago style pizza for some reason... it's in their culture or something, like the city of New York itself is going to hang them up for treason if they admit to liking it at all. Personally I like them both... they're just two totally different foods. You can't really compare. Anthony Bourdain ate Chicago style pizza in an episode of No Reservations and he bitched the whole time about how it was some sort of freak show and how it's not real pizza, and the only way he could finally admit to liking it was when he decided to not call it pizza since they're basically two separate things.

Silly pride. :)

DeKalb has a Giordanos now? Lucky! Have you ever had Pizza Villa? It's on Annie Glidden between Lincoln Highway and Lucinda somewhere. It's really good. Actually, my wife likes it even more than any other Chicago-style pizza anywhere. I like some others like Giordanos more, but it's damn good still.

So now that I've replied to 4 or so pages of posts... hello! It's fucking cold here, but I've got a nice new warm jacket so I'm good. I woke up this morning and my toe hurts really, really bad... I have no idea what happened. I have to limp significantly and if I touch it at all, even with my sock, it burns. it kinda feels fractured or something except unless I woke up in the middle of the night and stubbed it really hard, I didn't ever do anything to it. I'm confused!

Also, last night I took a shower and about 2 hours afterwards I realized that it had not drained at all. I tried plunging the drain, and some clumps of hair came out, but it didn't clear the drain at all. This morning all of the water is still there. I'm thinking maybe there's a frozen section in that part of the pipe, although none of our other pipes are frozen. Today is supposed to get above freezing and then tomorrow it will be like 50+ degrees so if that's the problem, it will fix itself soon. If not, then I have no idea what's wrong or how to fix it. :( I can't use Drano or anything because the tub is full of water. Any ideas?
