I don't think that any conclusive references will be found that demonstrate very fast conversion of 5-HTP to 5-HT... I'd need a lot more knowledge about neuropharmacology.
Perhaps a neuropharmacology textbook would be useful? I'll try and hunt one down, but the problem with radiography is that the radioactive sample kindof stays in the same area... radiography is only really useful for showing the rapidity of uptake... if the radioactive fluorine atoms hang around then that doesn't tell you much....

well i just woke up so i havnt exactly taken all this in too well but from wat i can gather it sounds like it doesnt take long to boost seratonin after 5-htp intake. sounds possible that 5-htp can make a considerable change to our bodies and minds not only after rolling but b4 :D will see in a few days now wont we

In any case, what I've been trying to say is that I believe 5-HTP --> serotonin to be extremely quick.
But there's confounding factors:
1) Rate of absorption. 5-HTP is not absorbed instantly from the digestive tract, it takes time!
2) peripheral decarboxylation will remove a lot of the initial 5-HTP... i couldn't speculate on exact numbers, but its probably at least 90%

I've been taking MDMA for almost 4 years now and I've taken 58 pills. Even by someone who has just found MDMA's standards you are taking too many pills too fast. Took me 1.5 years before I took more than 1 in a night!

i don't party as much as the good old days anymore. but special occasions call for paties!! my point is the weekend just gone i had white crowns also. i had 1, felt nothing, had another, felt nothing, feeling awake and alert, clear but no tingles, buzzes, flushes. just very awake a rather stone cold straight. cut a long story short i ended up having 7 in around 5 hours, same reaction. they were just speed bombs. so hence your out of the blue come on early morning. you said you had another white crown just before along with the 5-Htp, that's your answer. instant seratonin rush. thanks to clean pressed white speed crowns rather lacking in any mdma whatsover i'd say! hope this helps.

May i ask why people are taking so many pills in a night what are u hoping to achieve. We only wish we had that much serotonin in the reuptake bank account.
because they choose to, and that's their life
why do people take pills at all? or any drug for that matter, any illegal substance that we usually have no idea exactly what it contains and for that matter why are you bothered about it so much when we can buy SSRI medication in a box with a piece of paper from a person whom we assume has the knowledge to know what is best for us? the answer is there is no single anwer. but we have idividual thought and the ability to make individual choices. this freedom we have is taken for granted far too much. until you walk in their shoes you will not know, nor understand. so, no disrespect inteaded, why don't you spend time thinking whether you should buy an investment box and put it in a safety deposit box if it means so much to you, because you can't look down on people for their decisions especially because it's something you don't agree with but actually has nothing to do with you personally.

Linkman's Voice: Mr A tells us what actually goes on at these mouse parties.

Mr A: Well first of all you get shown to your own private hole in the skirting board... then you put the mouse skin on... then you scurry into the main room, and perhaps take a run in the wheel.

You might go and see one of the blue cheese films... there's a big clock in the middle of the room, and about 12:50 you climb up it and then ...eventually, it strikes one... and you all run down.

I have given out over 200 5HTP (50mg) at raves (free because they only cost me about 30cent each) over the last 2 years, and MOST people start feeling them within 15 minutes, and peak at the 20-30 minutes mark.Fry-d- said:
Most people I give them too love them and thanks me heaps because they start rushing again, but the strange thing is that about 10% of people do not feel them. I used to wonder if there was ramdom levels of 5HTP in each capsule, but I did notice over time that the majority of the 10% who could not feel 5HTP were DOPE smokers. That evil weed at work again.
Of course, One of my friends is a huge dope smoker (2g a night) and LOVES 5HTP, so it is only a generalisation.
Does anyone else have a therory why some people dont feel 5HTP much, while others just go nuts and start rushing hard?

And when I say 'happy person inside' I am NOT talking about the social mask that most people put on for OTHER people. I am talking about feelings deep down inside that MOST people try constantly to mask and supresss with work, food, drugs, 'keeping busy', ect.
Alcohol is a another good one - a happy person can have a few drinks and stop and not drink for a while, because they do not have that 'hole' inside that needs to be filled.
Whereas a unhappy person just wants to drink lots of alcohol everyday.

you are engaged in self-inflicting some fairly heavy duty neurological damage.
that damage will not become apparent for some time even after you taper, 5-HTP / pre / post-loading notwithstanding.
btw, many 5-HTP caps on the market are enteric coated, delaying absorption until it reaches your lower intestine.
oh, and phase_dancer, ROTFLMAO and major thanks for the excellent 5-HT Receptors and their Ligands linkage, good reading.

6months ago i was the boring loser who sat against the wall drinking wondering why chicks arent chatting me up. i couldnt get up and dance until i was so drunk i didnt know wat i was doing. if a chick made eye contact with me i would quickly look away hoping i hadnt been sprung. when i did manage to get up and dance, if a chick made it obvious she was trying to tune me whether it by staring at me, or even dancing on my leg i still couldnt bring my self to dance with her because i was so shy and self concious 
now we all know how confident pills make u.. but for me its rubbing off on my every day life i told yas how i am at that point now where im finding i wont need pills to go out and have fun anymore. this is cause with lots of pilling, came lots of dancing, which was lots of good practice, which in turn has made me a pretty damn good dancer ( and im talkint RnB not that gay rave shit ) so then with good dancing came chicks trying to dance with me too cause we all know chicks like good dancers!! so with lots of chicks tryin to dance with me came confidence knowing that on any night i go out if i want to pick up i can. which then reflected into my everyday life cause i can strut around and know that when i see a chick on the street.. if we were clubbing i pick her up with just a few mad little dance moves
last night was the 1st time i have been up and putting lots of effort into dancing while only drunk! :O and honestly i had 80% of the fun i have when im on Es seriously thats such a huge difference to the person i was only 4months ago. if i told this to friends who havnt been out with me in a while, they wouldnt believe it until they saw it seriously
i would average $100 on pills and $150 on piss on any given night.. last night i spent $70 on piss and had almost the same experience. guess whos gonna cut back on Es now guys
