OR - he's doing the old "pretending i'm going down an elevator" trick, similar to the old "i'm walking down a set of stairs behind the kitchen bench" trick.

In all seriousness, though, it's a horrid situation, and regardless of how silly Mr Cox may look in that gif, people died. :\
 
but to do that properly he would need to be side ways and he would need to gradually disappear behind the decks as he moved to either the left or right

I think the emphasis has been taken away from the fact that 4 people died at this event. Who cares how long it took CC to duck for cover?
 
DJC* - It's just strange that it took him SO long to realise that shots had been fired, as they were really loud, and it seemed that everyone but him knew something was up. Where were his people, his security? It's an all-round shitty situation, and the footage (especially the second video) is horrifying. :( How the hell did someone get into a venue with what sounded like a semi-automatic weapon??
 
Samadhi - yeah i do get what your saying, and i totally agree, but I've been to many indoor events where kids have set off fireworks, flares or bungers, and the DJ hasn't stopped. And if his ears are as rooted as mine after the years, then no wonder he didn't notice.
But still more than half this thread now is talking about him. I'm all for Social, but there is a time for sillyness.

The thing is, it could just as easily happen here. Most clubs on Chapel St don't have metal detectors, in fact few clubs in Melbourne do, if any. Quite a few of the types that go to these places are packing and all it takes is a weekend of being awake too long for people to snap.
 
^ The same can be said for many Brisbane clubs - no metal detectors. :\
 
They have metal detectors at pure platinum. Thats why i go there, you know..... For the safety

Well that's right. EG: the cbd shooting and assualt by Christopher Wayne Hudson. Who incidently was at a nightclub b4 he snapped. I mean there are countless nightclub stabbings and incidents right here on our own turf. It really sucks those people died but this stuff is actually happening here, not just overseas.

We all know security can be pretty slack when it comes to the good old entry searches and pat downs. I think my worst experience over the yrs was when i was working in kings cross and a stabbing happened right infront of me on the floor and I had to hold a towel over the guys stomach till the ambo turned up. It was a horrible experience.

I just can't understand why people would take knives and pack guns to go out on the town. Why do that? There are so many innocent people who could get hurt.

I'd rather be judge by 12 than carry by 6

It is incorrect to assert that a majority, or even a minoritiy of licensed venues search for weapons as a condition of entry to a pub/club. In fact, it is illegal for security guards to search a person without the same probably cause as a police officer. they can insist to search, but the worst possible repurcussion is refuse entry, and without probable cause, the venue is liable to a violation of the Liquor Licensing Act & the Trade Practices Act, so its hardly worth the effort to search patrons. that is the law, and violating it opens liability to costly lawsuits, commercial agent fines & criminal charges (patting down a patron without cause is assault, sexual assault if you touch the waist or below)
