Many of us who have tried 2c-i and numerous other research chems and can compare them do find 2c-i to have more disturbing side effects than many of the others. And it is most certainly more toxic than LSD or shrooms.
"Many of us" doesn't offer definitive proof, only anecdotal evidence than could lay the grounds for a hypothesis. The pool of RC users is extremely small compared with any other drug, psychedelic or otherwise. The reactions different people get from some of these seem to vary so widely that without real scientific study and testing for toxicity, etc. to claim anything about the short or long term effects is really just guess work.
And I'm not trying to defend 2C-I (although I can see how it may seem that way seeing how well it's treated me); I do realize it is more toxic than LSD or shrooms. Either of the latter would take huge amounts to OD on, but every RC is more toxic if you are using LSD and shrooms as a measuring stick. Which RCs are more toxic than others is impossible to know without real scientific study.
My circles who have tried 2C-I (again, the most widely available RC in my area) and the few people I know who have tried at least a few others (one person I know claims to have sampled nearly 100 different RCs...interesting cat to say the least); the majority give 2C-I a thumbs up. The most serious side effects from 2C-I from anyone I've known have never been close to life-threatening, just uncomfortable. In fact, the majority of those I know who have tried it almost invariably describe it as a 'clean' psychedelic, and a few even like it better than LSD. It just goes to show that we don't have enough data or studies to claim anything with any authority. Perhaps past drug use history of an individual plays a role as well. It looks to me more and more that RCs are quite unpredictable

My psychosis kicked in after 2C-I.
Very weird 6-12 months for me.
I can still feel and notice some of the effects now.
But they are 100% manageable for me.
Wow, that is fucked up, I have heard of those who have a predisposition to mental illness and have had it triggered by a single dose of a psychedelic drug (this would be the first case of this happening with an RC that I've heard of). I've heard about it with the traditional ones like LSD, but those are usually associated with schizophrenia, and are usually permanent (and very rare).
Do you have past experience with psychedelics? A history of mental illness in yourself or family? How severe was your psychosis? Did you seek any kind of treatment? What was the dosage level? Did you mix any other drugs with it? I'm glad you are still able to function but I'm still really sorry to hear this.
There is something called Depersonalization Disorder (I'm just throwing this out there as I can't possibly know what you are going through)...I can't find the link right now, but a Doctor who has suffered from this for most of his adult life (and before it was even recognized as a disorder) has written a book about it, and has developed treatment strategies and the like. Curiously enough, this Doctor claims he can trace the onset of his disorder to a single joint (that's right, just pot.) The disorder is usually triggered by a traumatic experience (it's your mind's way of coping with huge amounts of stress.) Google this disorder and you'll find tons of info.
I suppose it is not unreasonable to propose that a very intense trip (again, some people have reported extremely intense/dissociative states with just pot) could cause the same type of stress on your psyche to trigger this. But I'm just surmising at this point, since I've never heard of anything like this before and I don't know the circumstances around your experience.
