2C-E: Good or bad first psych experience?

Duster is an incredibly bad idea under any circumstances - permanent brain damage isn't worth a shitty high. Nitrous potentiates the living shit outta psyches and can be overwhelming but it is also brief if you don't enjoy the effects. But it is completely safe other than strapping a mask to your face and suffocating or with insane levels of abuse way beyond what the vast majority would ever even consider doing.

Excellent advice my friend. Like I said, I'm never doing it again ever. After I had that experience I started eating vitamin B-12 like a mad man because I heard it helps you recover from that stuff. Never, ever again.

Glad to hear that feeling isn't normal with psychs. It was like a temporary anxiety overload, even while rolling. Eventually the euphoria took over again, but holy crap I was thinking about that ~120 seconds for the next couple of months, I kid you not. It was traumatizing. I think if something like that happened again, I'd be more ready for it and I'd be confident it was just a little trip and would go away, especially if I was taking a psych and was expecting to trip out. Never duster or whip its again though. Never never never!!! :o

2c-e is one of my favorite psychedelics, and its been a number of people i know's first, and they've all liked it quite well. I'd go with 10-12mg for a first experience. And as for a first psychedelic, it should be just fine. With all drugs there is some inherent risk, but 2c-e isn't any more likely to cause a negative experience than shrooms or lsd. Maybe slightly less likely, but alot depends on the individual, set, setting, etc.

I bought a 0.001g scale yesterday to measure the stuff out, as well as other things in the future. Unfortunately, either this thing is broke, I'm not using it correctly, or it's a piece of crap because I just could not seem to get a consistent measurement out of it. Even with the calibration weights, it was off by several milligrams. I tried calibrating it 3 or 4 times, and still it is inaccurate and inconsistent. I weighed an empty capsule, and it was teetering around 78-79mg, so I figure it weighs ~80mg. I would put a little bit of powder into the capsule, tap the capsule on its side on the table to even it out as best as possible, and place it in the center of the scale. The numbers would jump around significantly (anywhere from 2-6mg, sometimes almost 10mg off) depending on where it was on the scale and the even-ness of the powder inside. Is this normal or am I just doing something wrong?

I set myself up several capsules, none ever reporting over 18mgs even with the crazy number jumps. They all averaged out to about 12-14mg and when averaging the numbers I would assume the actual weight was 2-3mg higher, just to be safe..

The thing that scares me the most is when I place the 10g calibration weight on the scale, sometimes the reading would be over 15mg off..even right after a calibration..always underweight. It never hit the measurement on the head.

What model scale is it? I have an Acculab VIC-123 and with this particular milligram accurate scale I MUST allow the scale to "warm up" - this can take between 10 and 15 minutes. From a cold start it will drift in the displayed weight (probably due to the warming of internal parts which affect accuracy) more than 200mg! So let it warm up for 10-15 minutes.

Is your air conditioning or heating system turned on? Are you breathing onto the balance? If I breathe onto the scale or even have the AC turned on the accuracy of the scale will not be very good since it's so accurate it will display a measurement due to the deflection of the scale from air current! Crazy, eh?

So, isolate the mass you're weighing and let it warm up for a while and try again.

I haven't searched for a scale thread on BL but I bought the VIC-123 from reviews on BL. Maybe there is one for how to use scales.

On the subject of measuring single doses of 2C-E ... I once capped out a half gram with the intention of making 15 mg doses. After the first few tries I realized that my .001 scale was going to jump around (by multiples of 3mg, apparently) regardless of what I did and just tried my best to eyeball each dose as similar to the last as possible ... I put each dose on the scale in the process, but since it would display 18 and 12 (or even 21 or 9) mg even if I weighed the same dose twice, and seemingly at random, I depended more on eyeballing than what the scale said and only altered the process if the scale was suspiciously consistent about reporting a high or low dose.

When I finished I compared the number of capsules I had to the number that I should've had if I'd capped them all out perfectly, and found that I had made 37 capsules instead of the 33 that technically should've come out of the half gram. I was satisfied with this result.

However, immediately afterward, I then capped out an equal amount of 5-MeO-DiPT with the exact same process and found that I ended up making twice as many capsules as I had intended to. This ended up being a good thing because a 7-10mg dose of foxy is actually way easier on a person than a 15mg dose, and after eating 7-10 at a time twice, I wouldn't really want to eat 15 at a time, so it worked out ... but still, it was a huge difference. It was a much fluffier powder and since I was still operating on the 2C-E standard I'd just come up with when I measured it out, my eyeball/weight estimates were off by half.

Moral of the story is, use a good fucking scale if you're going to deal with these chemicals. I managed to fudge it once, I'm not going to try it again.

Not sure the model of scale, I can post it when I get home. Good advice letting it warm up. I'm not sure if conditions were ideal for it. There was a fan in the room (not pointing directly at it, but a factor), window was open, this was the first time I ever used the scale, etc.. Only thing is it has an auto-off feature so I'd have to sit there hitting the on button every ~minute or so for a while....annoying...

Good advice though. I'm about to check out that scale thread.

I'm also going to replace the crappy cheap knock off batteries it came with with some nice shiny new Energizers or something. That might help accuracy a bit too. According to the scale thread, mine's on the cheaper end. I bought it at a head shop for $50.

Ok tonight I'll try letting it warm up in a still aired room for 15 minutes, and go from there. Do people generally find that the placement of the powder/capsule on the scale can make the measurement vary significantly, as in 5-8mg? Like, in the middle as opposed to a little off to the side.

That has some effect, yes. Also, it's impotrant, I find, to have a base weight on there... like the measurement tray that likely came with it, and/or a folded piece of paper to hold the chemical you're measuring (or just the gel cap on the tray. But do NOT tare it, leave it at 2 grams or whatever it reads with the tray on it. Then put your chemical on and subtract the difference. For some reason when the scales read 0, they measure much less accurately on very small amounts, but if you have a starting weight on there, it works much better.

Interesting point. Will do.

Another (and probably my last) quick question:

To my understanding, this stuff is quite stimulating, as in good luck sleeping while on it. Just about how many hours would one say the stimulating effects last? Would this be a bad idea on a work night?

I do have ambien and benzos on hand....

You guys are awesome with the responses. I gotta be honest, I never expected a DRUG forum to be so mature and respectful. All the car forums and game forums I have ever been on were nothing but flame fests.
we deal with serious topics that have serious risks,
we need to be seriously serious.

yes it would be bad for a work night. id definitely take it when you have nothing to do the next day,
to re-adjust back to normality and because the muscle aches are still there the second day.
move around if u get sore muscles or clenching, helps relieve it.

I just took some 2C-E on Saturday night and had an absolute breakthrough experience. I've been spinning poi for about 9-10 months, and I've been getting better bit by bit, but on Saturday night while tripping on 2C-E, I could do ANYTHING I WANTED. I could put either poi anywhere in space at any time, coordinate them into any pattern ... it was insane. 2C-E is a hell of a drug, for sure.

Question about after effects:

I took the 2C-E friday night. Last night (Monday), I smoked a bowl with a friend, and almost immediately after taking the first hit I started seeing these red "lights", like little fireflies out of the corner of my eye, it lasted about 5-10 seconds, and then went away. It was enough to make me stop and go "Whoa, WTF was that??" and freaked my friend out.

Any chance this had something to do with the 2C-E? I some some good hash during the 2C-E trip, perhaps smoking weed again triggered a mini "flashback"?
