The biggest clue here is the fact the OP managed to go to sleep even when still 'tripping'. The tail-end of trip still contains all the aspects of the full immersive experience, just much less intense. I can't exactly imagine sleeping while fully tripping still.

What if you had a 10 hour work day with physical labor heavily involved? I bet you'd be tired.

To give a likely upper limit the substance must be verified as LSD by trained professionals, the high dosage must be known, the facts must be carefully recorded, there must be multiple cases.
This is not easily accomplished and if it has ever been accomplished, as in a clinical setting, any believable report I have ever seen has the limit at 12 hours from a single dose.
So when you write your unverified thumbprint report, if you want realism, there you go. This would be a good starting point.
