There is no determined age. The reason why people generally agree with the 21-25 age range before proceeding to take steroids is largely down to your stage in development at those particular ages. Typically, a man has finished puberty somewhere near 21-25 although some people go in before their 30s before finishing puberty. During puberty, your body is naturally providing you with the necessary chemistry to grow and develop. Growth of bones, facial hair and pubic hair, deepening of the voice etc.
During this time, compared to later in life, your body is vulnerable. Vulnerable because it's perfectly tuned chemical balance is delivering in its own particular way in your own personal way, your growth into a grown man. That's why they say don't do drugs before your 18 or don't get married at a really young age. It's because, typically speaking, in one way or another, you haven't finished developing. And you can fuck the chemical balance in your body just by including chemicals which will interfere with the natural process of your development.
So it's more of a catch-all advisory statement. Just like your mother saying when your kid, you make the rules when your my age. The same applies to taking steroids. When your young, ie. Before the age of 18, your highly vulnerable in terms of biochemistry to development stalling or even cease of development from like I said, external sources. The truth is, IFBB Pro bodybuilders all began their journey to fame and being fucking huge at young ages. Some as young as 16. They had to start young in order to come into their professional prime at a reasonable age. Look at Jay Cutler. He was HUGE at 18 which means he would of had to of begun taking steroids even earlier to be that big in the first place.
When people talk of the dangers though. The danger applies to your natural production of testosterone. Steroids work by bypassing the liver (when injected) or passing the liver (when orally consumed) and they then are converted down into their respective testosterone derivatives. In this process, this sends messages to your body telling it to stop producing testosterone because there's already enough there in the system. So your body shuts down. You have NO testosterone now being naturally produced. This is where typical age comes into the fray. When your young, your HTPA is more fragile in recovery than when you are a mature man. This isn't to say that you can abuse steroids in your 30s or 40s but basically put, you can damage the whole process of testosterone production seeing as if you are under 21, your body is still developing and that includes the parts which give you your manhood chemicals.
No testosterone being produced and your body not being able to produce anymore, FULL STOP or very little EQUALS disaster. Now your injecting testosterone from a vial for the rest of your life. Stop taking your medication which once was a fun chemical to look and feel good now becomes a REQUIRED drug that makes or breaks you. And that is ultimately what every experienced steroid user will tell you. The whole, you might fuck up your HTPA and never be able to produce enough testosterone again and be sucking the shit out of pharmaceutical grade testosterone with a needle and syringe for the rest of your life. And that isn't good. We don't take these drugs to end up dependant on them. We take them because they help us get big, recover faster and exceed past our physical goals.
Lower age = more chance of potentially hurting your natural chemical balance in the body and therefore your ability to produce the very chemical which you have been injected in the first place.
Higher age = less chance of permanent damage to your internals and less chance of developing psychiatric conditions from overwhelming your body which in turn affects your mind seeing as testosterone isn't just there for your dick, it also aids in cognition and mood too. And there are many men out there who have roasted their mind as well as their body from abusing AAS.
In general, you MIGHT be okay but that risk to reward ratio is easily 50:50. I didn't start taking AAS until I was 24. By then I had researched these chemicals and their properties for nearly 2 years. I already knew I was at the end of puberty and I wasn't going to grow anymore naturally. I also had been working out for several years beforehand and so had a foundation which you need when taking steroids otherwise what you gain will just wave goodbye to you when you come off or when and if you abuse them and steroids are very easy to abuse because who doesn't like having 100x the amount of testosterone in their system? Who doesn't like feeling like a juggernaut? Who doesn't like being able to lift heavy, recover and go back the next day feeling like you've rested all week?
I suggest you do some research because it's your livelihood, literally, your very existence as a male, as a man which is at stake here. Pin that 250mg of Sustanon too early in your life and that could be the drug you DEPEND on for the rest of your life whilst all the other dudes are out there living their lives with a dick that gets hard without drugs and a body that isn't dependent on synthetic hormones.
Hope I helped and if any more experienced users could maybe chirp in, that would be cool.
