Thank you.
That's very sad. I have read that the Republicans did want to work together in the senate to come up with corrections of some flaws in Obamacare as well as work from something they had recognized as good, solid, and but like everything in life it could need an upgrade that wouldn't exclude people.
Many Republicans are willing to work with Democrats to come up with a better proposal. Because of the party line (Trump excluded) about repealing Obamacare, only very senior Senators or those with a base that will be affected deeply by the Republican proposal can speak out about it. And of course, the few brave ones.
Both parties have quite different views on what should happen, but the process that has produced the best outcomes in such situations for Americans has been bipartisan negotiations. Plus the Republicans would take a lot less fire if even a few Democrats voted for it.
Oh well, you know how Trump is, he was mad and told the party to repeal it regardless of its merit, something which imo was built in fine grounds, but could get better and it almost worked. Of course Pence was the tiebreaker or deal breaker, so to speak. We live in times where an egomaniacal president like Trump seems to relish be able to always get away with whatever he does, even it's wrongdoing.
Have some faith Erikmen!
Trump wasn't angry about healthcare. He has tried to avoid tying himself to this deeply unpopular legislation. Certain people and groups are putting a lot of pressure on him to do something- or else he'd be anywhere else (e.g., golfing or screaming at the TV and his staff about the DOJ Russia investigation) and I'm not joking.
It's interesting; Republicans need this to pass to progress to their tax cut. But this legislation is so unpopular that these Senators must be thinking about their seats. Maybe they think people won't notice??
I prefer to believe, even though I'm sure it's not true, that the only nation to have ever been nuked, wants nothing to do with making nukes.
I believe you are right that the Japanese want nothing to do with nuclear bombs, and that will true remain as long the collective memory of that experience remains.
Germany, for example, is very conscious of the perception of their country, its place in the EU, and the international community in a way that connects directly to WWII.
The narrative in the United States about dropping nuclear bombs varies from "it was necessary" to something akin to Trump (idiotic). It doesn't include the horror of what happened when they did; it never does.
How can you (OK, jammin, maybe not you, Bernie Bro Consipracy Anarcho Crypto Fascist or whatever the hell) right-wingers be on board with a statement like that?
Better you than me.
I'm waiting to see what he directs his employees to do next too. If anything. Other than kiss his ass or they're fired.
I'm so disappointed because Trump's meltdown is too early and too intense dammit; Pence is licking his chops. I really thought Trump could maintain and would be stable for longer; he's unhinged. However, he might last as long as I hope because they are going have to drag him out.
