2013-2014 Football Thread v.3 - Come on You Hull

arsenal looking good this season wether they will go on to win it tho i'm not sure. liverpool will do there usuall good start then taper off towards the end, united are going through transition and had the worst start for as long as i can remember. this is gonna be the closest league for a long time

United have finished in the top 3 in the PL every year since 1992, still though we are only 8 points of top spot, going through transition. Im willing to wait, it weeds out a lot of the fans though who are already seem to be jumping ship. Trying my hardest to get behind, and will continue to.. but giving a manager who has never been in a title race or with CL experience was always risky. Lets hope the results come, and if not.. id rather Arsenal win the league than anyone else.// :D

Fellaini so far though, looks like a rabbit in the headlights.. been utterly silent. Only thing id say with Moyes is that his substitutions have been a bit bizzare, struggling to hold onto a 1-0 win at home... and still no Kagawa? Hope he was thinking of the CL game... :\

Arsenal, Chelsea, Utd, City, Spurs... :D in that order (optimist)

Young player of the year either Ravel or Barclay , i'm hoping it's Rav obviously i suppose Townshend could get it he's still a nipper despite being almost bald :)

Yeah ross and ravel both looking good.. ravel is a MUFC fan through and through.. see what happens.. :D, I doubt either of them enough though to push anyone out of the world cup squad, I think roy will bottle it again and we will be starting with lamps and gerrard come the start of the wc.

I predict that anyone who finishes above city this season will win it. They look a real team with the new manager, pressing well and passing well. They'll only get better as the season continues and god knows they have plenty of classy players.

As for United, they really need to invest in January if they wanna make top 4. No disrespect but the squad isn't good enough. They need a proper central midfielder and an attacking mid. I like nani as an out and out winger but you need someone on the flanks to cut inside and link up with the forwards. Someone like silva, Nasri, or cazorla. Playing two pure wingers makes the team overly reliant on crosses and add to that the absence of a top class 10 they're not gonna be able to break down stubborn defenses, especially through the middle.

With Moyes though I fear that will not happen because its difficult to change his "protect what you have" approach rather than saf's "out score your opponents" approach. When other teams are going for coaches who hold philosophies of free flowing football united decide to appoint a manager known for his route 1 approach. I fear he knows nothing else and will be tactically outsmarted by better, more tactically astute foreign managers in the league throughout the season.

One could also say, after evertons best start to a season since they won the league, that he was holding them back. Martinez is a much better coach than him.

Anyone bought and reading Alex Ferguson's book yet? Think it would be pretty interesting.

In his latest autobiography, Ferguson said he fell out with Beckham after criticising his performance during an FA Cup defeat by Arsenal in 2003.

"The minute a Manchester United player thought he was bigger than the manager, he had to go," he wrote. "David thought he was bigger than Alex Ferguson.

"That was the death knell for him."

Ferguson also said he had concerns about Beckham's celebrity lifestyle, following the player's marriage to Victoria Adams, a member of the pop group the Spice Girls.

"David was the only player I managed who chose to be famous, who made it his mission to be known outside the game," wrote Ferguson. "I felt uncomfortable with the celebrity aspect of his life."

Spot on.

Utd starting with a midfield partnership of Giggs - Carrick... Giggs is not capable in CM... Kagawa is starting on the wing.. he is not a winger...Shame for kagawa he is not a winger, has a bit of a shite 60 mins and gets subbed. hope it improves for him tonight.

Hernandez upfront with rooney finally.. see what the little pea has :D

Just catching up on the CL from last night .

Ibra was amazing . WTF was going on in Lisbon ? That Befica game should have been called off 4sho & The Juve forward who tripped over the turf n thought it was a pen what a dinlo !!

They were the some of the Highlights Imo

So glad to see Juve lose, Chiellini is an animal he gets away with elbowing players in Italy but not in Europe. That Vidal dive was cringeworthy, no shame whatsoever.

Thought both kagawa and giggs had good games last night was nice to see kagawa get a full 90 mins. Thought we played well last night could of got a few more tho, really need to start putting games to bed early can never relax at 1 - 0 but at least we never stopped right to the end just a shame Rooney didn't have his shooting boots on and we would of got a lot more.

Liking the idea of the singing section too, sounded really good on tv and it's a good way to improve the atmosphere at OT. Heard they will be increasing the allocation for the SS to 3000 next home CL game defo a step in the right direction.

Singing section = WELL GAY
Try proper ULtra support like this

One lot behind each goal . Not a fukin Singing Section hahahahah!!!!

Take the piss all you want mate but if it improves the atmosphere at OT I'm all for it. At the end of the day due to man Uniteds big following you get a lot of people going to old Trafford just to take pics And sit quietly it the sacrifice you make for success so it means all your die hard fans who go to away games are spread around so you can't get s proper atmosphere in the ground.

United away support is arguably the best in the country having a section in OT for like minded reds is a brilliant idea and its right next to the away fans too which helps. Nothing gay about it at all

Thing is there are so many tourists at Old Trafford its actually hard to do anything like that when everyone is so dispersed, UTD have some of the best away support in the PL, outsing most stadiums.

English football atmospheres at home games is dead in the PL, you cant compare it to the Germans, Turks, Portugese, Greeks etc and its the powers that be that are fucking it up, aye youve got a load of flag waving, standing, jumping about in that porto game... a lot of that is Banned in English game, it fucking kills the atmosphere itself, stand for too long you get asked to sit down, flares get you arrested, large flags are banned due to being in the view of other supporters..... you cant do fuck all and its the clubs who are to blame

If a singing section brings back some atmoshphere that whats bad about that? Get taken the piss for having a quiet crowd, then introduce something to help it and everyones starts taking the piss of that? Cant win for some. That was only 1,500 fans last night in that section last night also, Sociedad took 5,000.

Speechless.. ha

I dont think Fenerbaches "12th man" can be beaten

C'mon pinky was just an excuse to make us watch that 6 - 0 Villa win . Is Petrov fully recovered now ? i know he is still working at Villa .

I could dig up 1-5 at st andrews if you want ? I know none of the players at all now, they 're all too bum fluffy and I liked all them boys. Looking forward to hosting the everton crew tomorrow. I love the everton fans, they're nice people. i was gonna say the spurs fans were a bunch of wankers but I got a few quid in tips, coz I unzipped me big boots and showed em me villa socks.

Old Trafford bound .. 4-0 I can only see :) moving us absolutely nowhere .. A city - Chelsea draw would be nice
