2012 major league baseball thread v. Playoffs make baseball watchable

^Yeh that was a tense finish. Had a small bet on the Phillies and kept getting confident when they kept taking the lead back, blowing a 6 run and 4 run lead...not good, especially not expected from halladay. At least they managed to tally up a good total for once.

i thought it was awesome hammels admitted to hitting him on purpose, it's usually automatic that the pitcher claims that it just got away from them

i havn't really seen any highlights of the kid, but someone enthusiastically told me about this throw to home he made, how it didn't go above x amount of feet in air and only took x amount of seconds to reach the plate

it's nice to see an american born player that's showing huge potential at such a young age, and i'm hoping the national's become relevant for their first time in their existence, asap

i've heard that in the minors he would blow kisses to the pitcher after he hit a home run - part of me says that's bush league and has no place in the game but half of me says it's awesome and hopes that we see more wacky antics out of him

I watched the Nationals host the Phillies last night so I heard all about him. They said that typically when those teams play eachother in DC it's like a home game for the Phillies since it's not that far of a ride for their fans and the Nationals fans don't show up much, but last night there were a lot more Nationals fans than usual.

During the game it wasn't a big deal when the pitcher hit him and was subsequently hit by the Nats pitcher. They both handled it professionally and they moved on, so I was surprised to hear about the suspension, but then I heard that he admitted to hitting him on purpose, which the MLB is not a fan of.

He got ejected from a few games in college I think, and actually missed the last games due to it I think, but he was in the minors right after that so it didn't matter much. His haircut is pretty douchey, so I can see him being a cocky player, and won't be surpised if he gets hit a decent number of times this year. As for his arm, he was a catcher before this but they switched him to the outfield so he can start games right away, and also because an outfielders career is longer than a catchers due to the abuse catcher knees and bodies take. The Nat's have another outfielder with a cannon for an arm and he got to display it once yesterday but the runner was smart and had stopped at 3rd.

if he does turn out to be a superstar that would be awesome to see him stay a national and not jump ship to big market team

as far as the haircut goes, yeah it's pretty weird but whatever, i think making fun of haircuts or telling people they need to cut their hair is lame

and i see he was picked first in the 2010 draft and pirates had the second pick...god damnit, having him and mccutchen would probably be enough to inspire a little passion within.....i really wish i was into baseball as much as i'm into nfl and pga, but i guess it's not meant to be

phillies fans do take over the Nationals ballpark, so much so that the Nats had to prevent tickets from being sold outside the DC area for a little while. Hamels got 5 games, which means one delayed start for a SP. Phillies need to get more from J Roll and Shane Victorino the offense is anemic right now

damn josh hamilton hit 4 home runs tonight at baltimore

what a coincidence

more than likely sniffed a bag between every inning

I hate Texas. The state and the team.

And yes it has something to do with them beating the Tigers in the ALCS last year.

It also has something to do with GWB being their number one fan...

Oh and Laura Bush is proof that the super-rich already have access to pleasure robots.

Cole Hamels is gonna be a huge free agent. The Matt Cain signing really set the bar and I think he's better than Cain

Pirates were good last first half to but fell off. Dont really follow them tbh but I went to a Phils game at their stadium its real nice.

mind you the pirates only have two guys hitting over .250 mccutchen and neil walker
thank god the pitching is fucking sick

Miami Marlins went 21-7 in May! Nobody seems to care any more that Ozzie Guillen is probably a communist operative.

Every team the Marlins play in June is over .500. It's one of the toughest stretches in baseball history, I'm sure.

I hope the Nationals go away. Such a boring team!

I think the NL East will go

phils
marlins
nats
braves
mets

when its all said and done. 2 wild cards though so 2 teams will probably get in

Dodgers aint shit without Kemp. Giants are taking the NL west this year.

Just heard the other day that the giants fan that was beaten into a coma at dodger stadium last year finally died.... RIP.

the pirates are FIVE games over .500 and tied for first and we are past memorial day

maybe there is a god

the whole world has got to be rooting for the buccos, if you're not you've got a problem with yourself or you are a reds or cardinals fan
