2012 - 2013 Football Thread

Ramsey contract extension killed it apparantly. I honestly fear for us this season. Every year I'm confident of that top 4 place but unless he makes 3 signings; signings that are SIGNIFICANTLY better than what we've got I don't think we'll get it.
 
Villa are getting relegated I reckon. Martin O'Neil made a serious mistake leaving as well. Neil and Villa need eachother to stay up.
 
Pato has signed for Corinthians.

Great signing for them, quality player, who for various reasons didnt show his best in Europe.
Whenever he played he scored, but injuries took their toll and in he did get a bit distracted by the nightlife in Europe, not to mention dating Berlesconi's daughter.

Sign of the times probably, Corinthians made a bucketload of sponsorship cash by winning the World Club thingy and can now afford to pay Pato just as much as he would get in Europe which was in the region of about 90K a week net.

When he was motivated and his hamstrings were ok he was deadly , watch him get back to form and spearhead Brazils world cup challenge in 2014

Quite telling that when Carlo wanted to sign him for Chelsea, Milan were asking £40 million and less than 18 months later he goes to Brazil for around 20 million Euro

I guess that would leave Demba Ba on the bench earning his 70k a week for doing sod all.

Top player, and only 25 to boot so would be around for a while, We tried to get him when he was at River but he chose Real Madrid.
I think it was 2009-10 when Gab Marcotti said he was the best striker in the world.

Situation is complicated by the fact that nobody knows who will be Real coach next season ( yet alone next month)

Always liked Balotelli since his much publicised visits to Italian maximum security nicks. "Many of my old friends are in places like this. I probably would be too if I wasn't good at football." No 'over the moon, it's all down to the gaffer and the lads' stereotype, he, but a real NWA with the foxes to match.

I like him a lot ...when you get past all the childishness you can see a Drogba like skillset
He has pace, power, he is direct and has a good touch

Maybe a lot of it has to do with him being an adopted kid in a country that doesnt exactly embrace black players or black people as a whole

on his day he is a worldbeater
I think he just has to be loved, just like Pato wanted to be in Europe

Both are just as good as each other in terms of footballing ability.

Im laughing at Sneijder now being paraded around Europe due to him being such a greedy cunt, not so long ago he was on the top of everyones list although no one is willing to meet his wage demands, £200k a week not enough for him? Sell him to qpr and see if he just "enjoys playing football and not about the money" in the championship.

Lots of games tomorrow anyway, anyone having a trip to the bookies?

He was always shit, it was one good pass against Chelsea in the Quarter Final that exposed Turbull and Ivanovic that made people think he was great. Which he really wasnt

Real Madrid couldnt wait to get rid of him, when he was with Holland he caused all kinds of problems as the media didnt think he was as good as RVDV

The guy is a cancer and a midget too boot

Ramadel Falcao not this window & hopefully not ever for Chelsea .:p

Demba Ba was good at The Irons & has carried on his form at the Toon not sure if he's the right man for Chelski.
With Hazard , Mata , Oscar et al behind you if you can't score as a striker then you should give up mind .


I heard a whisper a while back that Pato was going back to Brazil . He was much vaunted for Milan but didn't really deliver consistently IMO.

We signed Chamakh wtf ? Funnily enough we were in for him b4 Le Arse but they pipped us to the signing . I rekon Big Sam could get something out of the lad if anyone can then it's him .

If he can get 6 goals for us in the rest of the season he will be a success tbh , he was never prolific at Bordeaux , more a target man . I say Good Luck to him .

In his first season at Arsenal he played 29 scored 8 n got 6 assists also in Champions League played 6 scored 3 1 assist not shabby at all .

Welcome back Joe , lets hope that this is a success i hate it when players return & it doesn't work out .

Only 2 or 3 mili that's a lot of money for Villa especially if it turns out that he only plays a few more games could work out a milli a game .
. They have Benteke playing well up top anyhow it's their defence a general inexperience that is Villas problem any one can see that & Bent is injured anyway so it's moot atm.

...and Villa have a 2 leg semi final of Capital One Cup starting on Tuesday V Bradford. Not really ideal in the circumstances. Hope they get out of it, I wouldn't like to see Villa go down, like Paul Lambert too and Paul Mcgrath will forever be a hero. If they do go down I'd blame their decision to appoint Alex McLeish for a year sending them into downward spiral. WTF was that? That was a horrendous appointment.
