Since the qualifiers have just started, thought I'd make the thread for anyone who cares!

Northern Ireland beat San Marino 3-0 last night, although the Serbian referee was terrible. Who are you all supporting?

I'm going for Northern Ireland firstly, though their chances aren't great - but we are in a very convenient group. Once we're out, I'll be going for Rep. of Ireland and then old favourites: Croatia and Czech Republic :)

I heard some rumors that they wanted to legalize prostitution in South Africa for the World Cup. I don't think this would be a good idea however, considering how widespread AIDS is in SA.

im going for france

then england (even tho england plays boring ass football)

i just wanna see portugal go home crying

USA - I think they have a great lineup this year and have a chance at making a run.

and then Spain... they have always been my favorites for the Euro for some reason.

Probably the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland, Australia and the Turks.

I'd like to see Hungary qualify too - they are doing pretty well so far.

Australia.

Can't really be going for anyone else until we're out ;)

We're halfway through the final qualifying stage, and sitting on 10 points from 4 games, with 4 games to play. Top 2 in the 5 nation group go through, so it's looking awesome for qualification :):)

Other than that I always have a soft spot for The Netherlands and Spain

Team I will cheer on to victory: France.

Sentimental favorites that I cheer for but know won't win:
1. USA
2. Ireland
3. Mexico

Côte d'Ivoire anyone?
Did they qualify this time, anyone know?

Seriously though, France or Germany. Or Argentina.

Brazil will kick everyones ass. My top 5 are:

Brazil
Argentina
Portugal
France
Spain

Côte d'Ivoire anyone?
Did they qualify this time, anyone know?

Seriously though, France or Germany. Or Argentina.

Qualifiers are still going on... and will be for the next 6 months at least...

Just checked out http://www.fifa.com/worldcup/preliminaries/africa/standings/index.html

It seems that the African zone has hit it's final stage of qualification with 5 groups of 4 nations, where only the top nation in its group qualifies:

Looks like Côte d'Ivoire will have a fairly easy run to qualification. Their group contains Malawi, Burkina Faso and Guinea... none of which are real power-house African football nations.

My picks for the African teams to qualify:

Togo/Cameroon from Group A
Nigeria - Group B
Egypt - Group C
Ghana - Group D
Côte d'Ivoire - Group E

CB :)

Portugal!

Esta merda e toda nossa... Ole!

Portugal is going to send England home.. like always
France will be defeated as well
Spain might look good on paper but when it comes down to it hey will always be second to Portugal
On July 11 you'll see Deco, Simao, Ricardo Carvalho, Nani, Christiano Ronaldo, Pepe, Maniche, and many Portuguese players holding up the cup!

Hey deaf eye...;)

Good bump. I am excited for the Cup to start

Definitely rooting for USA but also rooting for England and Spain as well.

Oh New Zealand.... (oh New Zealand),
Is wond-der-ful...... ( is won-der-ful)
Oh New Zealand is wonderful
We’ve got sheep, more sheep and the All Whites
Oh New Zealand is wonderful

28 years since we have been able to chant this =D

Damn, I forgot you lot made it this year as well.

hmmm, should be an interesting match when we meet in the not to distant future.

What price an Australia vs New Zealand World Cup Final?

One of my clients is a bookie and he took a bet to win $1mill on Australia winning the World Cup. He was actually nervous about taking the bet. I don't see the Socceroos making the second round this time. Too many players especially in defence are short on serious match practice. They really miss a more creative midfielder too.

I remember in '82 we were stoked to score twice against Scotland and to be on the same park as Brazil and Russia. This time our World Cup will be judged on our warm up match agianst Australia. After that everything is a party.
