Well if you wanted to keep them fresh then I suppose the fridge? Otherwise look into how to dry flowers.What is the best method for storing (fresh) green poppy pods?? Any ideas??
One site I read is pushing Papaver Setigerums, which they described as "a legal hybrid of the somniferum species". Does anyone here have any experience with this type of pod?
I figured by now this would be common knowledge...
Cold water DOES work. This doesn't mean warm or hot water doesn't, but I know for a fact that cold water does indeed do the trick. And warm/hot water seems to be absorbed by the seeds faster than cold water, so if you were looking for a second rinse(recommended), I would use cold water.
Lemon juice might help a bit...I seem to recall reading something about the acidity helping in the rinse and/or causing a desirable reaction with the morphine content. At the same time, lemon juice is by no means necessary. Straight water works fine.
Five minutes of vigorous shaking in a sealed container is plenty. I read about people claiming an hour or two and IMHO, that much time would be counter-productive. It's a rinse/wash. Not necessarily an extraction.
Don't count on the color of the seeds/water to base your dosing on. I have found that even if you think you know, you could be completely wrong. Taste is probably the best judgement...bitter is better. Always proceed with caution. Trust me on this one.
charcoal...
Just a comment about flavor...I have noticed of late that I have experienced some very bitter tasting PST. It seems the more bitter it is, the better. Think CWE with some earthiness. That is what I mean by bitter. It just never dawned on me before that opiates are bitter, hence...{peace}
Question about PST. I searched this thread and couldn't find anything related. Does anyone have any experience with storage? Meaning I want to brew it up tonight and stick it in the fridge until tomorrow. Should I be concerned about any weirdness happening or am I safe?
I do a second batch of used seeds and let them sit overnight in the fridge without a problem. Any seeds aren't going to go bad overnight in a fridge and I can't imagine anything in the liquid doing something funky just overnight either. Certainly never been a concern of mine.
