Thanks for the reminder, CH. Many times we think it won't (or can't) happen to us but the reality is quite different.
I hope your friend gets through this okay. I know many people with HIV and they have healthy lives and healthy sex lives. Shit, my one friend is undetectable now after her treatment.

Another tidbit of information about how Hep C can be spread - unfortunately when some injecting drug users start re-using needles, there are more problems that can occur than just extra dull needles, and extra scar tissue/track marks; if you are re-using your own needles and so is someone else you are injecting with, and you each share a cooker, a water supply for cleaning out your needles, then it is possible for Hep C to be transmitted in these shared injection supplies.

Some people don't know this, as I have unfortunately heard about someone getting Hep C this way.

Just always be careful guys. Do research on the safest ways to do things before doing them. Bluelight is here to help. :)

Tried reaching you last night. I will certainly keep your friend (and you) in my thoughts, and you can reach me whenever, you know that. CH - THANK YOU for this very important reminder. I have a close friend who's been living with HIV (acquired from either anal sex or IVing meth in less than sterile situations) for going on 8 years now. For the most part, he has remained healthy with the use of antiretroviral medication prescribed by his doctor. TAOW, there are new advances in the treatment of HIV/AIDS coming along all the time. I hope he does not take his own life, as there are many with HIV/AIDS who live relatively normal lives while getting treated.

Another mention about the dangers of drugs: I was crushed when someone told me yesterday morning that Amy Winehouse had died. I have been a longtime fan of her music, and now she's another young person gone too soon. RIP Amy. <3
 
Yeah i have to get around to being tested myself. Ive never shared any needles and i only shared the same cooker with my g/f of the time but since we never reused needles (we always had enough not to reuse them) i am not worried about that. Well not much 8) . It's the crackpipes i have occasionally shared that are making me nervous. You can get hep C this way and yeah i have only shared a actual pipe maybe once but it's still worrying me. Oh well i have to get tested within the next few months anyway.
 
i have no friends.. they dont even call me when theyre going to the beach. told them, fuck yourself. fuck friends im dying alone. my bike doesnt even work and i cant afford to fix it. fuck everything i want to cut their eyes out. just because i dont smoke weed anymore like a retard means you dont think about me? garbage. no im not making new friends. why try

Yeah, any bodily fluid contact can spread Hep C; it's a virulent motherfucker. It'll stay active on surfaces for a long ass time too. Thanks to medical science though, neither Hep C or HIV is a death sentence any more: I know of one woman who has been testing negative for Hep C for about three years after being accidentally infected at work (at a hospital) a decade earlier, and anti-retrovirals add decades of asymptomatic life to HIV patients, during which more and more advances are being made in treating the illness.
 
i want to work on a cruise ship.. anywhere faaar from this land these "friends" these problems. every time i take the sea bus and it passes a cruise ship I want to be in there working. maybe one day pilot one..

how do i do this? my only work exp is a print shop and a line/prep cook

i'm not sure how legit that site is though. i'd check the websites of the cruise ships themselves rather. you can probably get a job in a cruise ship kitchen with your job experience. i've known a few people that have had jobs on cruise ships before, i don't think it's that hard to get a job on one :)

dropsonde, companies often appreciate it when people take the initiative to contact them out of the blue for employment. It's definitely worth a shot, I'm sure you could get some type of work on a ship!
 
^ the sea and being on ships an be very theraputic.... I've volunteered on historic ships that are still actively sailing, which works well for having a purpose and getting away from ppl.
For me, the smaller & older the boat, the more fun it is on the water. its sort of like riding a Harley with no helmet or riding leathers.... ;)

If there were still a real merchant-marine here, I'd have joined in a heartbeat.

Although I love flying too, and have flown small aircraft since I was 13..... travelling by water is more my kinda pace. Same thing with trains.....
 
Hey fellow darksiders, I thought I would say hi in the social, I usually hang out in the BDD social but have been posting here over the last couple of days and thought I would stick my head in the social too.

How are people doing?

I'm planning an epic 400 mile + hitchhiking trip from Cambridge in England to Glasgow in Scotland. 400 miles might not seem too far for the americans :D but it is pretty far to go for a little Brit like me. Am hoping it will be a great adventure. Am planning to do something similar in the USA in a few years, travel around the country without much money to my name, just hitching rides from place to place. I don't feel as though I belong in society, but am stuck in it for now, hope to leave mainstream society within the next 3 years at the latest though :)

Whenever the shit hits the fan, Im either gonna head straight towards the wilderness in far north or far south cali.
Living with nature amongst a small community of friends where I do my part for the general good.
I hate Communism but I love it in theory, but I only thnk it can work with small civilizations, not massive countries.
Thats why the Native Americans were the only pure Communists.
Im rambling.
Anyways man man I bet you're the same kinda cat lookin for a life like this.

Yeah just traveling around without any particular destination is very appealing. I'd love to make my way across Canada visiting as many places as I can and then finally staying out west for a while. Building a career just doesn't have much of an appeal to it at the moment.
