opiates for pain

jesus, you've had some bad luck and a tough life man, sorry to hear of your losses.
as bad as it sounds, not knowing what it would feel like to have as much as you had to lose, what i'm feeling at the moment from my situation is as though i have lost as much.

i'm glad you can still find happiness after it all

Thank,s Mate im helping my brother rebiuld his busisness after a bloody big fire burnt him out last month so it,s keeping my head busy im seeing my GP WED i might ask her for some Fentyol patche,s as the cold weather is not good for me how do you find the change in weather doe,s it effect you condition , i was talking to another on youtube he,s say,s that you guy,s in the US have to pay full cost for your script,s is that right .
My brother lost his GTR 1000 as we go riding every Jan for a few day,s i ride a goldwing are you into bike,s or what are your hobbie,s talk soon Mate look after your self .

I was prescribed Oxycodone (Endone) for my back injury but stopped asking for it as the GP always made me feel uncomfortable when asking for it.
The funny thing was I was only asking for them after my pain was under control so my partner who suffers Migrains could use them but she has decided against trying them.
I couldn't take them recreationaly as I would get the worst upset stomache ever and spend hours dry reaching if I took more than 1 tablet at a time.
Its dissapointing for me not to be able to use them recreationaly as I have read so many good things about them and it looks like I will end up flushing the 4 packs or so I have left down the toilet. Life can suck sometimes as I thought I had gotten lucky to be prescribed them only to find I seem to be allergic to them at a higher dose.

im in aus and unemployed, so concession for me, but i rarely get PBS for any scripts cause i dont have a 'condition', i have restless leg syndrome and yeah the cold weather makes things alot worse.

^ You should be able to get PBS scripts without a 'condition', the pain just has to be severe and not responding to non-narcotic analgesics. Staying on them may be another thing...

there is barely anything on the PBS for RLS though, everything is hit and miss and private apart from the few - not specifically analgesics.

Interesting stuff that happened the other day. My new gp rung up due to not hearing anything about the S8 permit and found out I am on ' look into 'due to my old gp having only a permit for 120 mg oxy a day when I've been on 200mg for 6plus months. Medicare told my gp they want me to go to a pain clinic before allowing the permit yet I've been waiting for the local hospital pain clinic since around September last year. My gp told them this in a semi displeased manner since he knows I need the pain meds dispensined in a couple weeks. Hope I can get my usual pain meds seeing as the cold is flaring up my pain as well. :!:X

Look into getting dlpa from overseas. I get 6 to 12 months daily use [relatively cheaply]. It gives me about double of the oxy affects due to potentiation. I have always had lower affect from opiates due to bad metabolizer that I think I have or something as most opiates do heaps less affect besides pethidine and tramal so I guess opiods work and opiates don't work as good from the several hundred doses i've had for various pain needs over the years.

Mind my spellings etc as I'm still getting used to this virtual keyboard on my xoom I bought recently!

G,Day man i seen my GP today every time once a month she has to ring SYD to get approvel code from the Department of TGA she just give them my Medie care number and says in as follow up tratment from a Pain Clinic and i dont have any problem,s i get a month,s supply at a time and my GP has NO Problem giving them to me she may give me some extra one,s like Fentynal patche,s so i can have a rest from 2x100mg MS Contain a day 2x Proldone at night and patche,s for BAD DAY,S .

she would have filled out an application, not such an issue if you have a condition or pain that can be seen on paper or in tests so to speak.

this is what my doctors have had to do as well.

though if you're seeing a pain specialist your GP has no reason to be conscious about filling out such drugs as morphine and oxycodone.

after 6 months of being on morphine (as well as oxycontin) i had to be assessed by another doctor and specialist to re-affirm that my condition was legitimate and necessary to be treated with heavy narcotics.

fentanyl was a different story in my experience, exact same as the norspan patches. it was just a matter of ringing up for the authority each month for refills.

Fuck TAC

My wife had a hospital appointment since she is 7 days overdue from giving birth. Coincidentally the pregnancy area is next to the pain clinic [where I am booked in to see]. Seeing as I've been waiting as "urgent" since like September last year, I decided to just make sure I'm still on the list. I gave my details, was told I'm still on the list and I had a small chat to the receptionist. It seems it's taking so long because TAC have yet to reply to their fax asking for whatever, either approval to pay for the program and/or possible history seeing as this is the first time I've seen this pain clinic being that I moved down here last year.

So, 8-9 fucking months to respond to a hospital's fax and they still haven't done it.... I'm going to send off an email now as I think I'll lose it if I call them directly. I know TAC are bloody slack but 8-9 months to reply and not doing it is downright lame. And even then the receptionist said it'll be 2-3 months before I see someone as that's the waiting time for urgent people as it is. I'll be put onto the bottom of the actual list as opposed to on the list as urgent but 'waiting for TAC before advancing at all'.

CUNCE :!

thats fucked man!
i know the feeling somewhat...
today i was told that a pain specialist is available through the medical clinic - which i've been going to for 6 months now.
apparently it didn't make sense to mention this when i mentioned it 3 months ago.
now i have to wait until late july for that appointment (not too far i know) but the GP still refuses to help with my pain using actual pain killers, random anti depressants are more logical it seems

Yeah, some GPs hate prescribing anything 'strong' for pain meds yet don't seem to have a problem with random anti-depressants and stuff that may or may not help directly with your pain and bring on potential other problems (air head/can't take other drugs etc)

The first GP I saw ongoing since I had my injury kept wanting to put me on anti-depressants even through I wasn't down in mood at all, I was as many specialists (neurosurgeons, psychologists, injury rehab staff etc) all said I was very strong willed and positive. Yet the GP was like "Do you feel down? This can elevate your mood along with possibly helping with pain *insert anti-dep, like TCAs or SSRIs*. The only time I felt 'down' or anything 'negative' was just when I was in intense [breakthrough] pain and soon as 'enough' to most/all of the pain was relieved, I was back to my normal self.

I'm glad I had the balls to tell a couple doctors, one GP and one pain specialist who was retiring and didn't give a crap, in fact he downright said lies. I came in asking what were the alternatives to the then high doses of oxycontin my old GP was illegally (not that I knew at the time) prescribing me as I was just on stupid amounts, say from zero pre injury to 2-3 months after, 400, 600mg oxycontin daily. I was eating 80mg tablets like lollies literally. I was somewhat fobbed off by the pain specialist doc and then in a few days I get a CC'ed letter that he sent to TAC and my GP saying "I had this gentleman come in and I think he wanted higher doses of oxycontin which I believe is not beneficial. He should not be seeking more doses of the drug blah blah" and I was blown away by the crap. Totally nothing like I said which was what alternatives can I look at/do etc. *shakes head*

At least I wrote letters back to TAC, my GP and the pain specialist as same CC'ed letter on paper saying what a lying old sack of dirt he was and I was glad he was retiring because he was either going senile or just a liar as the crap he said was nothing remotely like I said or intended. Never got a response from him heh

All history now, the GP is great that I'm seeing, just need to sort out the silliness that my old GP did of keeping the same dose S8 permit for 6+ months after I was on almost double daily dose than the permit was for. I didn't realise until my current GP showed me the photocopy of the permit on his computer that the permits were for specific doses of S8 drug(s), not just a permit flat for prescribing in my case, oxycontin. Well, you learn something each day they say ;)

I also earned some free tattoo time today, fixing the tattoo shop where I go to's computers. Both infected with spyware, I was at the hospital when they called, literally 5 minutes away so I rocked up in like 10 minutes as Emma was just waiting on a test result, i.e doing nothing for ~1 hr so I did some work and won't have to pay for a few hours tattoo work (of $100/hr usual rate). Plus it's good knowing my mind is at least able to focus on 'work' rather than dealing with pain 24/7. I'm also going to do some 'easy' work, traffic management courses paid by for the job network I joined earlier this year. I'd rather do that kind of work, hold up a sign as it's low stress mentally + physically. Also easy to do part time work, it's been a cuntox to find part time work that is/was my career, unix network stuff. I'm most likely not well enough to work full time so part time is what I'm aiming at.

For now, it's time for rest, done my head in again from being mentally exhausted and silly enough me deciding to post on forums (i.e here) instead of chilling and sleeping, or trying to sleep anyway!

Wishing you well misk :) I sent an email off to TAC earlier today asking what the hell is going on with them with regards to my pain clinic appointment(s), idiots they are... If I didn't have a great network, friends + family, I'd probably be in a hell bad state (all the time), they treat people like annoying flies, try to swat them til they die.. It's good I have my awesome daughter to hang out with and make every day enjoyable when I see her and/or my wife =D

well i rang the one of the other medical clinics this pain specialist visits and they have an appointment next week, so i'm very happy about that.
i have no medication for my pain, never really have, just some muscle relaxants and neurontin was ever prescribed for comfort.
hopefully there will be some movement in that area - i'm a bit pissed i could have seen this person 3 months ago, but shit happens.
i'm not sure what to expect, so i'm going in with no expectations, but its given me a fair boost just knowing i've secured an appointment.

dude, you're obviously over medicated. try posting when you're not so fucked up, you'll find people will pay more attention to what you have to say when it's coherent.
