Schooled me up?? We went picking all of once dude and we didn't find anything! =D yes we have had many discussions on msn about the politics of shrooms etc, but as far as identifying and the hours of endless reading on shroomery... and the fact i found my first patch 4 years ago... quite frank i taught myself, i didn't know discussing a mutual passion with a friend meant they were schooling me up. I have had many discussions with friends over the years about shrooms. I went on my first hunt back in 2001. :\ You have a lot of knowledge that's for sure, but not one single person has ever picked a shroom and said to me "here - this is one" that i did myself. And IMO that's the hardest part. Hence why this whole thread has been so derailed.


ShroomAssasin - My apologies, i was just trying to help as it seemed your chances of getting a random off an internet site to risk their privacy and take you out on a hunt without knowing a thing about you seemed rather slim, so i was just trying to let you know that you don't need to solely rely on others.

I wish you the best of luck with your shroom adventures. All i was doing was having faith in you, but alas i shall stay wellllllll away from this form here on.

Bring on the weekend pickings!

I just read this now (well the whole post) and thank you... :) No worries at all. I still will leave it be though, the advice i have to offer is clearly not what you're looking for.

DFRS...I'm almost certain he's said that because my comment previous to had riled him....not intentionally of course. It is my anger that has done this....and unfortunately it is very contagious. I started the hate. I'm sure he regrets what he said...I might be wrong...but I dont think I am.

Also, you're advice/support was/is great, and I lashed out in the heat of the moment...immature frustration.

just a question, how often does anyone return to a certain patch, keeping in mind the health of the site? I always like to leave the juvies and really old maggoty subs, only taking the juicy ones that have had a chance to spread their spores.

Of course my initial question depends on how big each patch is...also do you consume all you pick or store them? Just sparking convo!!! Myself only tripping very sparingly, just enjoy the hunt and store most of what I pick.

I'll probably find myself just looking a lot this season, as I have a fair old honey pot teeming with psilo...peace
 
After seven days, I'm certain that if the right weather has occured then you should get more flush, not sure about suburban woodchip patches???? Another note, I always try and cover the harvested section over with more substrate, eg. grass biomass, woodchips, just a little so the mycelium is protected and grows in the long run!

I must confess that I do take some mycelium when I harvest subbies, leaving most. This is because I am using the stembutts to grow more patches, starting with steriled woodchips in a plastic tub. I think that a small sacrifice of mycelial health in a large natural patch where I hunt is outwayed by the fact that I will spread the genetic code far and wide when my chips are colonised. Hopefully that doesn't offend!!
 
Makes good sense actually IF you are taking from a very healthy patch, which of course I have no reason to disbelieve you are.

Is that a better way to grow your own?
 
In my opinion the patch is quite healthy, but only future successful hunts will tell if that is true...This method is very much an easier way to grow! I have tried both, with sterility and syringes and stembutts and woodchips, with success in both.

But for subbies I think woodchips are a whole lot less time consuming and all you have to do is let the mycelium surge through the chips. It is amazing how the stembutts sprout mycelium after bout 3 days. I initially start with cardboard, then go to woodchips.

Be sure that I am not advocating the mass rapage of patches, only the small scale thoughful extraction, you don't need many stembutts. You just need to treat them right and they will grow in front of your eyes.
 
ill return to a patch every second day, or if the weather is great, everyday [smoke-o at work].

i went to my patch today, and i know others go there [found 2 pairs of scissors] and its been raped, like a marathon ran through it. foot prints everywhere, flattened shrubs and saplings, every log or branch lifted and rolled around.
i still found about 80g wet [my friend got more, over 100g id guess], but its horrible to see some people treat nature like this when its just as easy to walk in and out without the damage.
 
going to a bush doof tonight, a friends uncle used to run them heaps in central vic, and he stopped for the last few years, but he's heading overseas for 8mths so he's throwing a 'going away doof'. big psyc heads, so i cant wait.

hopefully ill get hold of a tab or 2 for my first trip sometime soon. i dont plan to have lsd tonight, instead about 3.5g of my stash from this season, but we'll see how the mood is.
Im VERY excited!

also my friends [non trippers] are getting gear/speed, and iv never combined before. good idea or bad? i think ill jut stick to one or the other.
iv also got seroquil [spelling] to cancle a trip if all goes south, but iv never had a bad trip ever, even with a 4gram dose in a packed night club so i feel confident it'll be great.
 
def not a good idea to combine psyches with speed yo. its a one way ticket to a extremely difficult trip.

i have seen the most expereienced psychonauts looped out hardcore having the most NOT FUN time when they mixed psyches and speed
