Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

#3 in the BLUA:

Das is verboten, sorry. Thanks for taking the time to ask rather than deciding that forgiveness is easier to come by than permission, appreciated.

Just lookin out for the wellness of the community. :\=D

I'm sure posting a picture of the cover is allowed, so here:

There are some ultra rediculous joints in here, its a relatively cheap buy and there are some pretty fun projects.

Is tobacco highly taxed in England or something? I've always wondered why English people didn't smoke blunts like we do stateside.

Blunts are the shit, I like Swisher sweets, I think they're nicely sized and easy to roll. I don't know what a blunt cutter is man, I just use a pocket knife or razor blade, a lot of folks use their thumbnails. Blunts aren't hard to open, I don't think you need a special device for opening them.

a lil saliva and your fingernails is all u need. carrying various paraphenelia is only asking for extra incentive from cops to search your possesions

but daily blunts will fuck your lungs up, stick to joints and bowls. i also think a blunt flavor overpowers the weed too much, but its nice to have a fat blunt. look up whats called a be legit

How would they know you had the paraphenalia unless they were already searching you?

^ good point vader.

To be honest, yes blunts are very easy to crack open with fingers, but they are so much easier to roll if you have a blunt cutter and it saves time. also no police man (in England anyway) is gonna know what a blunt cutter is.

Tobacco is ridiculously expensive in England. In London a 20 pack of marlboro reds can cost up to *sorry, no prices ofr anything that could be construed as paraphenalia*. fucking joke. I am gonna take back like 30 phillies with me from the states this summer. anyone think that customs might have an issue with that?

the one i had hung on my keys. or it could be in your pocket. finding something like that cpuld give incentive for a more through search of your car. even during harmless questioning cops often pat you down and check your pockets

I don't like most blunt flavors, I almost always smoke Swisher original (unflavored) or Swisher sweets, which just have a kinda mild sweet flavor to them that I think complements bud. If I have to use a flavored blunt though I prefer peach, but the flavors all strike me as kinda gross. Especially when licking the blunt, the flavor can get really overpowering and unpleasant.

So what's a blunt cutter? I looked it up just now and it looks like a little circle with a blade in it. I've never seen one here (Texas) at all. I doubt that most policemen here would recognize it.

You can totally accomplish the same thing with a pocket knife though. My pocket knife is only used as drug paraphernalia but the cops would never know.

As for bringing blunts back to Britain, it might not work out so great because blunts get stale. Stale blunts crack and break a lot easier then fresh ones and are harder to roll. Still, I've rolled plenty of nice blunts from stale wraps that I'd had for several months, so if you're good at rolling it shouldn't be much of an issue.

I have no idea what customs would think of it though.

sorry for late reply. yeah thats pretty much exactly what a blunt cutter is. police in the UK will arrest you right away if you are searched and they find any kind of blade or weapon on you. A blunt cutter would be no problem.

My dad actually has a small cigar box with humidity control gear in it. I may think about using that to ship em over. How quickly do they dry up? Surely with all the GM foods and preservatives they have out in the states they can make long life blunts lol.

Oh and I agree with you on the flavour front, but I do like grape.

Hey guys, I got a quick question I didn't feel warranted its own thread. Lately I have been getting into skinning up as I have to admit smoking joints is very pleasant, despite being a tad less efficient than alternative ROA's.

I am not the most skilled roller and as a result have turned to some tutorials just to see if they could be of any help. It seems like the overwhelming majority of instructionals out there put a layer of tobacco and then a layer of weed, possibly with another small layer of tobacco on top. Is this typical of joint rolling in the UK and Europe?

Here in Australia weed is typically mixed with cannabis regardless of the way in which it is intended to be smoked (save for blunts and hot knives). As a result we mix our cannabis and tobacco together homogenously before smoking, this practise has naturally carried over into my joint rolling.

It seems to me that taking 5 seconds to mix the tobacco and weed together would result in a more even burn and a more homogenous mix to roll with. I don't even think it would waste time because its literally a few seconds to mix up, a few seconds which would easily be used taking shit from several seperate piles. Is doing it this way more common than the tutorials I have been looking at would seem to suggest?

If not can I ask what the thought process is behind not mixing up the weed and the tobacco? It just seems like an obvious thing to do to me but often it is not the case.

drug_mentor:
Yes, most people skin up with separate layers of weed and baccy. However, mixing it does make for a better joint, and this is what I and my circle of friends do. It is more popular in some areas than others (I notice it's more common in London than elsewhere in the country); most people, though, don't know about it, haven't thought it over, or just can't be bothered.

I used to mix up my weed/tobacco before rolling but out of laziness I've gone back to just layering them, and I haven't noticed any difference in how well it smokes. You just need to spread out and loosen the baccy when you're adding the weed so that it covers as much area as possible and then when you roll it, it will pretty much mix itself.

Wow that's crazy that you can get arrested for any kind of blade. I carry a Swiss Army knife a lot, and a lot of folks in the US carry pocket knives. Very handy tools, I'd never use one as a weapon, mine is mainly used for prepping drugs ;).

Blunts dry up at varying speeds. Sometimes you'll buy blunts here and they'll already be stale when you buy them, but generally I'd say blunts will stay ideally fresh for 2-4 weeks, then get kinda stale. In a cigar box with humidity control they probably would last significantly longer though, I dunno.

I can still roll perfect blunts with 3 or 4 month old stale ones though, they just have a higher tendency to crack. The thing about blunts is that they're very easy to tweak and repair once you're done rolling them so even if they crack I can generally seal all the cracks with a bit of saliva and maybe a patch.

I don't like grape blunts personally. I find wine flavor to be ok though, kinda like grape but milder.

it is ridiculous in London. If your caught with a knife you are really in the shit.

I will definetley be bringing back the blunts anyways. I hope the can survive the altitude. My Dad brings cubans over to the States tho each summer without a problem. I guess it should be ok.

@ drug_mentor: Hi, I mix my tobacco with my weed. I only ever use weed from a straight tho, never rolling tobacco because it mixes much better. I throw a small pinch (very small) into my grinder once it filled with ground cannabis. Definetely allows for a more full smoke. the jay tends to burn much better.

^ You gotta respect what they're doing though, i've only been to london a handful of times and pretty much without fail i've had some kind of weapon pulled on me.

They're doing a shit job, but the less of these assholes out there trying to stab me the better imo.

& drug_mentor, I do the typical bacca/weed/bacca layering, then it seems to just mix itself when rolling... not always perfect but good enough for me.

I've never had any weapons pulled on me (not even in dodgy areas) and I've lived in London my whole life. Banning knives doesn't stop the bad guys from carrying them anyway, it just leaves law abiding people unable to defend themselves (the Met are useless) and inconveniences people who have legitimate uses for knives.

Also, I could never stomach straight tobacco in a spliff, it's so crumbly and dry, and tastes really harsh without the gigantic filter it was designed to be smoked through.

I also live in London. I regularly spend time in some of the rougher areas of London as my chick lives in Oval, and I grew up in the Herne Hill/Brixton area. I have never even seen a knife on the street in London. Have had trouble many times, but never involving knives.

I agree that the Met are all useless though, but nobody fucks about with them that's for sure.

tobacco from straights is my first choice cos it burns much better and mixes in with the weed perfectly. you cannot usually have a homogeneous mix of rolling baccy and weed. But i use rolling baccy no problem if nothing else is available

Here in Canada everyone is aware of both rolling styles and whether or not a paper roach is added is just personal preference. I usually don't as I use a rolling machine to get perfect cigarette style joints.

I live in america. Lemme say, when you have weed to spare a fat joint is awesome although i prefer a good bowl instead. Usually my 'joints' are just cigs filled with bud and a cut filter. (for driving)
