Occasionally when I'm smoking I'll blow a hit in my cats face. I don't think there's any negative affects on getting a cat high, and he definitely likes it since every time I smoke my grav he'll jump up on the table almost like he's expecting a hit, and for some reason he likes drinking the bong water in my grav.

Someone once told me if you get your dog stoned he stays stoned forever. That seems like bullshit but does anyone know for sure?

I get my dog high all the time. He seems to enjoy it.

It doesn't make sense that once he gets high he never comes down, but I'm curious on the truth of this as well

my budgie used to get well stoned. i could tell because he hung really low down on his perch just chilling with his feathers all fluffy. i think he liked it but who knows. he never compained.

Dogs pretty much are high all the time anyway. I remember something in Leary's The Politics of Ecstasy about that. But yes I have blown hits in my dogs face many times. She doesn't really seem to like it all that much =D

I used to blow smoke in my kittens face/ears, if she backed away I'd stop but often times she'd just sit there and bask in it :D

This thread makes me a bit uncomfortable because I have seen this topic get very contentious before. I'm going to try sending to CD but can picture this getting closed if it the topic has turned out to go poorly there before.

Uh oh, now you've done it.

This is one of the few taboos at bluelight.

I saved a pic from one of these threads. It was a pic of a tab on this guy's dog's tongue lol.

^ Now that is controversial. Holy shit.

But as far as blowing smoke in your pets face, its this simple:
If it shows signs of not liking it, stop.

If it sticks around, its probably fine in moderation.

How do you know if your animal really likes it? It's an animal, so it might not associate you blowing smoke into it's face with it starting to feel different. Since you have no way of talking to the animal, you can't really be sure it really likes it, even if it appears to be relaxed etc. I don't think drugging your animal is right since it can't explicitly consent, however I'm not going to bust your balls over it. It's your pet at the end of the day (not that I mean it gives you the right to do as you please with it because it's your property - you know what I mean). What I'm saying is that I don't condone it, not that it makes much of a difference.

There's a good reason this subject is controversial IMO.

The dude claimed that whenever he ripped a sheet the dog would come running. He said he loved to chase squirrels while frying. :D

You've never had a cat have you? If a cat doesn't like something, it's not going to stick around whatever it is. If you're blowing smoke in a cats face and it's sticking around, I'm pretty sure it's down lol.

Whether that's ethical or not, I can't say.

I don't have a cat now, no, but I grew up with them up until the age of about 19 or 20. I'm just saying it might not associate the altered perception etc with the blowing of the smoke in it's face, since it's an animal. Whether or not the cat enjoys it is neither here nor there and is not relevant however, since I don't think it's right in the first place. That's just my personal opinion, though.

I do think there are worse things a person can do to their pets though, having said that! I wouldn't compare it to abuse per se, for the record.

No I never got any of my dogs or cats high from herb or other illegal drugs.

The cats got catnip but that's it. I would just smoke outdoors or in the garage away from them.

I do remember my schnauzer saw my dilated eyes when I was on mushrooms and she did not like that at all and barked a lot at me. My cat didn't care.

I don't think it's ethical to give animals illegal drugs.

Oh so its ethical to give them legal drugs, but not illegal drugs? 8)
Tell me... whats the difference?

What about me, since my cannabis is legal?

It depends on what the "legal" drug is. Obviously I wouldn't give a pet booze or caffeine. I'd consider catnip to be a drug. I've never used it but I read about people using it on erowid when they didn't have any other drugs around.

A person can give consent about which drugs they want or do not want to use, animals cannot.

I've read articles written by vets where they would talk about patients who would bring in animals that had eaten herb and the vets said how it's not good to get your pets high and it can be very dangerous for them.

It's not ethical to give your pet psychoactive drugs full stop (the key word being psychoactive). Legality has not a lot to do with it IMO.

Let me ask this - if you were the carer of a mentally disabled person, would it be okay to feed them drugs without their explicit consent? What about your elderly grandmother in a care home?
