Hello all. I am a newbie to this forum and found it after a google search. Not really sure where to start and I want to say thanks in advance for the help.
I am relatively new to drug use compared to a lot of people, but over the past 2 years, I have worked myself into a opiate habit. I'll spare all the details on how I got to this point, but basically I am at the point where I feel like my need has turned into an addiction.
I've never done anything more than swallowing pills....except for some marijuana back when I was younger, but the past couple of years it's been pills. Mainly hydrocodone and tramadol. I've also taken percocet a darvocet but my main DOC has been the hydro and tramadol.
As of right now, I need about 25-30mg of hydrocodone at one time to feel anything and about 400mg of tramadol to feel anything. And that's just at one time, I can often take that amount, then later in the day take another dose of the same amount. It's always EITHER the hydro OR the tramadol...I never do them together. I just do whatever I have.
Anyway...I feel like it's a lot. I've built up a pretty good tolerance.
So, the reason I am posting is because....I've got to find a way to stop. Not only am I running out of resources to get these pills, but I'm tired of thinking about it...wondering when and how I'm going to get more, basing my mood on whether or not I have pills, etc. I just want to stop.
I am a 27year old mother of three and I want to do right by my kids and stop this. I am very much a functional addict. It doesn't affect any aspect of my life as far as anyone else can tell. No one knows I do this.
If I stop cold turkey...what can I expect as far as withdrawl goes. How long will it take to completely get over withdrawl and is there anything I can do to lessen it?
Also, if I do succeed and stop....will my tolerance eventually go down? For example, if I were to not take any opiates for....I don't know, 6 months or so...would my tolerance be back down to as if I had never taken them before??
Just wondering.
Thanks so much for your help.
