I feel the same way about alcohol.
Plugging heroin is less of a nasty habit in my eyes than chewing tobacco. I chose to do this, why does my life have to change I feel just as happy as any other normal person. I think lives need to be changed when they don't feel happy.
Weed and heroin are drugs that provide euphoria. They both are used as a tool to enhance intervals of time. Weed and heroin can make somebody enjoy things they normally wouldn't. Weed and heroin can turn a boring regular day into one full of enjoyment.
Can you imagine a professional drug user who can do drugs responsibly? If you can't then you are closed minded, it is possible to use heroin without ruining your life, you fail to see that. Just because its highly improbable doesn't mean its impossible.
If you lived in Libya and everyone you knew took up arms and joined a coalition to overthrow the dictator would you join the fight?
If you were in jail and all of your cellmates started had sex with each other everyday would you join in?
If all of your coworkers stole money from the register and didn't get caught everyday would you do it too?
I don't know about you but I'm not easily influenced by other peoples actions. I don't mirror peoples behavior no matter how long I'm surrounded by it. I have resolve, I don't care what other peoples life decisions are as long as it doesn't affect me. You shouldn't be swayed to do something because somebody else is. I've sat in front of a church everyday, but I'm atheist.

well OP, ive never sat in front of a church. thats because I'm an atheist and I dont believe churches have a positive impact on society. maybe theres no need to reiterate, but your story-length post is the epitome of tenacity and erratic/impulsive behavior. no good will come from a continued heroin addiction. i think the question should be do you value the gift of (either your own or your girlfriend's) life?

^There's no luck to it. I've been addicted many times in my life to a variety of drugs, mainly opiates. The point I'm making is that opiate users often go through life without people knowing about their addiction. This is more so the case with opiates other than heroin, but is true all of them nonetheless.

However reading this was both entertaining & insightful. At first i thought jphoenix was being a bit of a judgemental, upon his high horse kinda guy. I've never done heroin but i'm familiar with opiates; they're not just a fake-escape type high. In fact they are much like any other drug we utilize- tweaking our brain chemistry & we can have very real experiences on them. It is part of our life after all.
However after time, a class of drug, a body drug, like opium, alcohol et cetera can become less of a tweak in our brain which we utilize & then go about enjoying our everyday lives with. It just gets to the point where the drug is all it's about. Instead of dosing then doing other things under its influence, the effects are all the user cares about anymore.
I've seen this with friends on coke, alcohol, i'e seen it with myself on marijuana & that person becomes the most boring motherfucker in the world.
With that said, i found that quite macabre popcorn worthy little thread & honestly i think it belongs in... The Dark Side

I don't know a single person who can say that heroin has not impacted their life in at least one negative way. Anyone who says it hasn't is probably not being 100% honest with themselves. If anything, it's illegal so your chances of getting arrested skyrocket when you begin purchasing the drug on a regular basis. This is definitely a negative. That's not to mention the myriad of other problems that are linked with chronic heroin use, the biggest one (IMO) being the fact that overdosing is a very real danger as heroin isn't regulated by any sort of administration which allows its potency to vary from batch to batch. This is negative as well. I can think of even more problems, like the fact that most heroin users are not able to support a heroin habit and remain financially competent at the same time. True, there are people who manage it, but from my experience most people end up developing a habit they cannot account for. Once again, this too is a negative impact. Oh and, you can't forget withdrawals. These are never good either.
I can't think of many positives aside from the momentary high itself. Maybe some people feel less socially inept but most aren't exactly social while they're nodding out. Others might feel it's adequate when it comes to pain control and it most definitely is. I still believe that the cons far outweigh the pros no matter how you cut it. Maybe not at first but once a person becomes a full blown user this is most certainly the case.
