Joint Rolling - European vs. American Methods

oh god that sounds so disgusting.

In germany we roll with tobacco and cardboard filters, snobs may use active coal filters :D
Cone shaped joints are the way to go, most of the time the end just tastes disgusting, so you want as little weed as possible in that. Most of the time I even roll with a "tobacco base", covering the last centimeter before the filter.

Roaches are delicious imo, but less so when they contain tobacco.

Cone shaped joints strike me as more wasteful then cylindrical joints. I much prefer fat, cylindrical joints, and I sometimes add roaches, but not too often. Then I add the end of the joint to future joints. I almost never roll spliffs, they aren't very common in the US.

^^(@TearItDown) That's not a fact... I can roll joints that are extremely skinny and burn way longer than the same amount would have in a bowl...

A tip for anyone who is going to put out a joint/ blunt/ whatever and re-light it later... Blow through the mouthpiece once it is extinguished to get out the smoke remaining inside the joint! If you don't do this, the smoke remaining inside will make the ingredients taste horrible. Blowing the smoke out leaves the ingredients tasting just like they did when you put it out.

^Smart

I never thought of putting the roach in a carb.

Anyone ever see those papers that have a really thin wire running the length of it so when you burn it the wire sticks out in front so you can grab it as a roach clip?

Seriously? I saw a friend do it when I was like 15 and I thought that was a brilliant idea and I've done it whenever I've had roaches around and a bowl. Though I never like having bowls or bongs around. My mom is ridiculously paranoid about me doing drugs and of course pot smelling the worst of all the drugs, meaning that it's the easiest to sniff out even when hidden, having smoking accessories was never a good idea in my house.

I would always use a piece of notecard as like a little roach so I could smoke it all the way down and I worked at a Walmart photo center and I took a bunch of the clips they use to attach the film to the envelops because they were perfect roach clips. I thought of it myself, but it's not exactly the most inventive solution to the problem of not being able to smoke the entire joint, so I can see why many people thought of similar things on their own.

Why would you bother though? Do you really like smoking paper that much? If you're gonna use the same amount in a bowl, just smoke a bowl.

I'm american and I roll my joints 50/50 weed and tobacco, with a "roach" also called a "crutch" over here. I do agree that most americans just make a fuckin weed/ paper burrito and it is messy as hell, but i like a nice, clean, straight roll, with a crutch. I've been told alot of times that I "smoke weed like a euro". Also A spliff is hash and tobacco, not weed and tobacco, etc...

Oh and Randy's papers are the fucking shit, some old hippy guy introduced me to them.

I roll Rizla, which are awesome. OR ZZ cut-corners if Rizla isn't available.

That wasn't what I was saying, but anyway, I usually smoke joints for convenience. Portability is wonderful... particularly not having to carry around paraphernalia!

Question to the people who roll weed and tobacco together:

Are the majority of you cigarette smokers?

I am not a cig smoker and couldn't fathom shitting on my joint. To me the taste of good green bud is amazing and I just can't understand mixing diarrhea in with my delicious weed. If I was a smoker then maybe I would think differently although I have many cig smoking friends who also wouldn't dare roll feces in with their bud. Just wondering...

Never heard that distinction made before and I've been smoking spliffs since I was 12.

I wouldn't put shit in my joints either. I would, however, use tobacco, as would pretty much any Europen smoker. It's just how you roll a joint here. I did start smoking, at 16, but only after using tobacco in joints for years. For a start, if you're rolling with hash (which is much more common in Europe), not using tobacco just isn't an option. I also enjoy the flavour, and it lets you roll a nice fat joint that burns slowly and evenly.

it seems like to me most americans will take a roach and put it in a bowl or bong to finish. i have always rolled bigger joints but usually ill smoke anough to get high then put it out for the next sesh. i guess it all depends on the situation. i would def roll a bigger one for going to a show or concert than i would for smoking on my lunch break or something

I prefer grilled reef. When you lay weed on a spread out paper and then press another paper on top of it.

Danes can't roll joints. When I was in Copenhagen, you see them filling up pre-rolled paper cones by scooping up mix from a piece of paper. Embarassing. Although the upshot is that they all end up smoking MASSIVE joints.

Here in Slovenia we roll joints with tobacco (3:1 or 2:1) most of the time. From time to time we use flavoured blunts or bongs/pipes but most of the time we just stick to cone shaped joints. Of course we sometimes experiment with shishas, apples, different styles of joints (especially tulip joints) etc.
We mostly use Ziggi rolling papers (quality from Slovenia ^_^) who come with filter tips. Here's the image:
