What are you munching on? v. Noodle nights n greedy monkeys

I'm having a lazy day. Mostly because the rest of the fam wanted Scotch pie, beans and chips ( not really my thing ) So I opted for a fresh soup out of Arsda. Roasted red pepper and Wensleydale. Add in some super hot sauce, Top with crostini , fried onion and a dusting of Parmesan. LUSH!


Also: I've forgotten the simple joys of a plain old chocolate digestive biscuit. YUMMY! I mean Really lovely!
 
Fine collection of varying foodstuffs there, m'dear. I do loves me a Scotch Pie (fnarr). Similarly simplistic dins for me tonight - chicken Kiev and chips may not be exciting but it is tasty. Those beer batter chips are actually quite nice. Take a fair bit of cooking to get 'em good 'n' crispy but good 'n' crispy they iz :)

In Marmite news, forgot to mention that all this yeasty talk of extractions probably influenced my choice of brekky this morn. Had lomticks of toast with Marmite XO. Tis (apparently) a special blend of Marmites matured in oak barrels for extra flavour. Hmm. Is quite nice though. Nearly gone now and not seen it since. Special edition thingy in a big box. Bit like the Champagne one that I wish they'd bring back cos that really was gorgeous <3
 
Mmmmm that sounds nice Shammy. I think I must have gotten my Marmite cravings out of the way. Though talking about it now makes me really want some.

I don't know where these cravings came from but I'm glad they did.

I've still got a smidge of that soup in the bottom of the pan. Could be good for a midnight snack re-heat.


Currently debating to have another coffee or another Diesel.

Diesel. Sod it.
 
As random as my marmite craving came on it has just as quickly disappeared. Not with out having consumed an awful lot of it though!!!
 
made a leftovers curry from some pigeon, left over roast chicken, a big stock from lamb bones chicken and pigeon bits......

turned out okay, not great, but okay, just used one of them Patak's pastes.

Marmite, no, but yeah, but no, but yeah, I'm on the fence!

Shambles! Beer batter chips? Whats this, precooked and then battered? Or boiled then battered and fried?
 
You can actually buy beer battered chips in the frozen section of your local supermarket. Well most anyway. Not nearly as good as fresh ones though.


I've never tried to make them myself. Must do that someday.

Ha! Coincidentally I saw an old episode of Have I Got News For You last night that revealed Heston's latest creation involved elephant shit. Sort of. It probably didn't but apparently his restaurant got busted for shitty hygiene whenever it was originally shown. Bet he was pissed off too.

See yes he is an inspiration but seeing him interviewed was kinda icky! I too would never be able to go to his restaurant but yes his stuff is interesting but he certainly isnt, but maybe thats just my opinion !!!!
 
Dunno. Saw him interviewed on Jonathon Ross or summat a while back and he seemed okay. Just showing off liquid nitrogen ice-cream or similar, I think. He seemed like a nice enough fella on that series he did for BBC2 a while back but not watched telly for the last year or so really so dunno how his media persona developed. Did see he's done an advert for Sainsbury's or similar recently which loses him a lotta points. Wasn't even a very interesting recipe :\

mm you have to see the graham norton interview when he declared he was called cheston rather than heston cause he worked out, dont know why it just put me off of him.... women were fickle lol

Sounds like it was just a really, really, really poor attempt at comedy. To be fair he's not meant to be funny but being on chat shows kinda means you have to have a stab at it. Have certainly heard far worse attempts at being amusing from Hollywood types :D
