Official A&E's "Intervention" Thread

To those saying the subject would be set off by the spelling of the name, if you've seen the recent episodes...they don't do that anymore. And they certainly don't do it after rehab, you can see the physical changes.

Every intervention I have seen where someone is smoking meth, they ALWAYS do it wrong. oh so wrong. With burning the FUCK out of the bowl, "blue flaming" it and all. Rendering the bowl black, and burnt and all naaaasty and useless. Bleh. Everytime I catch an episode with the meth smokers I can just smell the burnt, wasted dope.

And these people always cook and boil the shit out of their oxy's. Madness.

I don't think it is fake though. My favorite one is in the first season. This guy was an Alcoholic on the streets. I remember they interviewed him while he was in county, through the glass. And he looks at the camera and says, "Just the thought of me not participating in society, with a beer in my hand gives me a hard on". And he was dead serious. I want to hang out with that guy. Too bad he lost his beloved dog in the end. Bein a alcoholic, that shit happens.

I have quite gotten into this show the last few months and I have to say I don't feel as though it is fake. I definately think that some circumstances are kinda staged or atleast given a nudge towards, but the people on their as far as I am concerned are real drug addicts. You can really see the anguish in a lot of them, and their families, and how different many of them look after just 2 or 3 months clean says it all.

They are real addicts with real addictions. But I'm sure the producers get involved and "stage" some circumstances and situations that they want to film. The intervention itself is "staged" so I'm sure other scenes are staged in the same way. That doesn't mean people are given scripts and lines. It just means that the producers are not 100% passive following people around without suggesting to the addict that they do certain things.

Yeah holy fuck the duster girl was SOMETHING ELSE. I laughed my ass off at that one. And also I agree that being on that show can have a devastating effect on your future, as was mentioned before. Once people remember you, you're pretty much fucked. Especially if you were one of those people that were just G O N E on the show.

man, how bout that chick angelina from jersey, the dopehead broad who ate xanaxs like candy all day....she freaked out and thought her mom stole her bundle so she made her mom strip naked and checked her panties n everything for it...when she didnt find it then she even was accusin her moms of hidin it in her pussy iirc...

later she found it on her dresser where she left it...she was so fucked up on xanax n dope she totally forgot...

Dope alone makes me do this, but I don't freak out and get paranoid that someone took it, I just assume I'll remember in awhile lol.

I remember that one, but for some reason thought she was from Boston. Anyways, I remember her mom knew what was up with the stamps. She was yelling at her not to do a certain stamp because she heard that it had a fentanyl cut. And yea, she was making her mom strip down to see if she was stealing bags.

People that have never done dope look on with disgust when they show the person nodding out. But anybody that has done it, looks on with envy.

Lmao yea I remember that shit. Her mom would want to know what stamps she had cuz she was worried about the fentanyl. Oh man what a show.

I think its real. I mean of course they are going to try to get them to speak a certain way.

And the chad guy not showing signs of being high on crack, didnt he have ADD? He said he felt normal when he smoked crack

They did a follow up with Chad. He went to rehab, relapsed, started cycling again and got hired by a professional team, relapsed, went to Italy for a big cycle race, then relapsed, quit and is back out living on the streets doing crack and drinking. It's rare to get even 1 shot at your dream, never mind 2 shots. I don't think anybody's gonna give him a 3rd shot.

IIRC though, although on that occassion her mother didn't take her dope wasn't her mum using drugs of some kind eventually? So I can kind of see why she would think she could of. Perhaps it was another episode that the addicts mum was also using a bit.

It is just crazy to think a mother would ever let themselves to be subjected to that shit, to think I have been thrown out by mine in the past for smoking pot...

yea cuz the mom was doin oxys secretly... the crazy broad kept tellin everyone her mom would get high with her and use her dope and oxys and shit and everyone was like oh yea that crazy angelina, lyin ass dopehead, makin up crazy stories, and the mom was like yea yo i dont do that, she crazy ! and nobody believed her....but at the end it turned out the mom really was using too and the girl was tellin the truth...ha....imagine shootin dope with your mom....fucked up. that was funny tho when shes like...tell me wat stamp! Like damn, i think itd be mad weird to have a mom that instead of cryin her heart out when u go out to cop or when u nod out at dinner, she knows wats up with the stamps and all she asks from you is that you tell her which stamp u got so she can approve it first....8o

It seems pretty real to me. I mean maybe as the show got a little older they had the occassional made up story but i think for the most part they are real.

I'm pretty sure there's a scene in the episode with Shane that is staged. During this one part he's selling his prescribed bars and the dude who's buying doesn't even have his face blurred or anything. Come on, I don't think anyone is that dumb. "Hey man, I just saw you buy thirty xanax on national television!"lol

And furthermore, they're just sitting in his car out in plain sight with the driver side door open counting out the bars right there. Yeah man an open car surrounded by cameras with thirty pills in clear view, totally inconspicuous.

As a person who has been doing Xanax pretty heavy for the last 8-10 blurred years, I can attest that barred out people (including myself) will take a very chill perspective with regard to some activities such as counting out bars. After leveling out to a "manageable" habit, you begin to see that there really isn't anything absolutely sketchy about counting out something in your car as long as you don't act suspicious. I'll believe any ridiculous activity I see on tv from a xanax addict. People who are only 1-2 years deep really are still in that "I don't give a fuck, what are they going to do about it" phase.

I think Intervention, in general, is one of those shows that can't help but tell the truth even when it lies (if that makes sense).

Well, okay I guess it's somewhat believable but wouldn't you at least ask the producers to blur out your face?

I remember that episode... but anyways at certain points in your addiction you're like whatever I don't give a fuck kind of mode. This dude probably was pretty benzoed out at that point in time as well (just a hypothesis). Or he wasn't thinking about the consequences at the time and just thought fuck yeah I'm going to be on television.
