insomnia help

^ Additional info for that list:

Seroquel: A psychiatrist isn't needed for it to be prescribed, but it won't be covered under the PBS when used for anything other then schizophrenia, treatment of an acute episode of mania associated with bipolar type I (monotherapy for up to 6 months), or as a maintenance treatment of bipolar type I.

Doxylamine succinate/promethazine: they work, but if you buy it too often from the one pharmacy it will show up in their computer and they will question you about it. Some pharmacists will be more liberal then others, but all will tell you that it's not for long term treatment.

Exercise: Don't underestimate it, can work really well for some people. :)

Melatonin: Actual, real melatonin (as opposed to homeopathic bullshit) is prescription only here... but can be ordered off the internet.

Yeah dude, I read soemwhere that real melatonin can be made in to 5-meo-dmt...cept where the fuck do you find Melatonin?

I think it's a case of periodic episodes of insomnia with the OP, though, so exercise is the bomb.

^ It could be done, but due to the characteristics of the melatonin molecule it is not easy, i.e. needs to be done under inert atmosphere.

about sleep issues u could try soma (although it is an analogue federally of some other S4 drug) but they are very bad to have too many and probably just as bad as benzos for withdrawl

^ Carisoprodol itself is S4; it's parent compound, meprobamate, is S4 as well.

I don't get the /LD... I'm not up on the internet vernacular I guess. :)

i dont think anyone will
watch curb your enthusiasm, larry david says what are u insane? like every 30 seconds in an argument to defend his lies and stuff good show... preettyy preettyy pteeereetttyyy goooooooood.... ;)

wow didnt know soma was banned here, was it ever offered here in the past as prescription

what bout valium?

think it is s4 also. often presribed for insomnia and other problems, but many doctors will not prescribe it as a first option nor regularly due to its addiction potential.

No offence dude, but nearly every second thread here is talking about benzos and vals. have a read around.

every benzo available here is schedule 4 except hypnodorm. not sure about versed or rivotril vials tho

I can't be bothered looking up every single benzodiazepine in the SUSMP right now, but with the exception of flunitrazepam (S8), they would for the most part all be S4 according to the TGA.

Some states will have variations in how their scheduling works; they may require extra details for some S4 substances that are liable to abuse, mainly benzodiazepines. I know that in QLD this doesn't happen; the mechanism is in the software for extra data recording but it is not used as far as I'm aware.

mate ive been chasing a solution to ease insomnia (caused my restless leg syndrome) for 2 years now with over 60 doctors.
unless you get on your knees, you wont get benzos of any sort for more than a week.
last week i was given 7 stilnox and told they should last me 2 weeks lol.
i dont think most gps understand how serious insomnia is for some people.

they will prescribe any antidepressant under the sun, but you have to push and push to get something to help you sleep.

i was told dopthep will solve all of my problems a month ago, had no effect at all on me, went back to ask for an alternative and was told to keep taking them as i have no other choice...
thanks lol
last night i did a bit more research and got onto a few of the suggestions found in this thread.
in the 2 years seeing doctors i have not once been told about antihistamines or melanin.
i have had serequil by chance off a mate but figured it would be harder to get!

our health care system shits me up the wall at the moment, so im going to write a few these suggestions down and see what excuses the doctors have for not prescribing them.

have you tried gabapentin (neurontin)? it does help somewhat compared to the other bullshit 'solutions' doctors try to push on us.

My doc looooves to precribe benzos like candy haha, so getting those is no problem at all. I hate benzos, personally but I'm dependent on them now :/ I, too am quite the insomniac, but here's my favorite things to put me out.

Bali Kratom, sometimes mixed with full strength tincture and usually some Cannabis :D
Kava tincture/regular root drink.
Temazepam
2mg+ Clonazepam (been on Clonazeapam since late 09)
Relax-All with Phenibut
Or just lots of Cannabis on it's own :)

currently trying Zyprexa. tastes kinda the sanme as a temazepam tab. got 10mg tabs seemed to help me sleep the last few nights only just trying em. have had seroquel before also sedating like Zyprexa (anti-psycotics) think its even supppose to be strongers...

OTC
also had restevit (doxylamine) dont remember it much
had Phenergan (promethazine) said on pack 1-3 pills/nigh 25mg each
took 75mg & im surprized this shit isnt rx cuz it works. hat comfertably tired & went to sleep fairly quick

temazepam although being prob the best benzo for sleepiness only really makes ya calm which helps ya get to sleep.

the otc drugs are surprozing effective & they can potentiate opiates too ;)

if u smoke cigs, quit smoking u wont sleep better for about a week but after that u will cuz u'll breath easier & wont have the nicotine. & ofcourse no caffeine at night. & even during the day one coffee should be fine but try to drink tea instead after that. (keep it under 250mg/day)
if u get drunk it will make u sleep worse even though u get to sleep faster & then u will have worse insomna the next night.

so go to the pharmasy & by a a otc sleeping tab as first line treatment. they do work. & help with ya allergies too...

^ really, please provide some references/literature to back this up? Or are you just referring to the after effects & feeling drowsy for up to 24 hours after a strong dose?

Personally I love promethazine for both opiate potentiation & hayfever.

well you guys may be on to something with the seroquel lol
took me 2 minutes to get 60x 25mg with 5 repeats.
had one bout 20 min ago and def drowsy, no enough to sleep, but i can tell 2-3 or so or more will do the job.

cant believe they are willing to give out anti psychotics over benzos
