Let me clear some things up right off the bat. This isn't a SWIM post, I am actually talking about a friend of mine, who is female.
I'm also not talking about WD's. This girl has done opiates about 20 times total in her life, and a wide variety at that. She's also never done them without at least a 3 day break in between, and does small amounts.
Let me get to the real post now :
I'm curious as to what would cause her to get sick like this after doing opiates. It's not WHILE she's high, though she does throw up occasionally, which is normal as far as I know for an inexperienced opiate user, especially a female. I've never thrown up from opiates, even when I've nearly overdosed, but I've seen many newbie female opiate users throw up, even with the tiniest amounts.
No, she's sick about 8 to 24 hours after using opiates. There's no set time frame, but every single time she has used an opiate, regardless of what it was (heroin, opana, oxycodone [both roxy and contin] dilaudid, suboxone I think are all the ones she's tried) and regardless of the ROA (sublingual, IV, insufflated are the 3 methods she's tried), she always feels like complete shit anywhere from 8 to 24 hours later, and it usually lasts the rest of the day.
I'm an experienced opiate user, and I've never been around anyone that was like this. I've been around people that just couldn't handle them and threw up a lot, and felt sick while ON opiates. I've been around people that didn't feel much and just didn't like them (these kinds of people typically prefer uppers, from my experience). I've also been around people who enjoyed the high so much that when they came down they thought they were feeling bad when really they were feeling normal, this is not what she's doing. But I've never been around someone that felt miserable when they came down like she does. She loves being high, she feels great from it, and even when she throws up during, she always enjoys it, but she is so sick the next day she can't even go to work.
It's like she gets a cold mixed with a stomach virus and is absolutely miserable. When I first started using opiates (and I know this is true for many of the people I know as well), I would always feel great for hours and hours, and often even into the next day. When my buzz went away I don't ever remember feeling sick like this. I just remember it being gone, and going on with my life. Obviously once you become addicted it's a whole different beast, but that's not what she's going through. There's absolutely no way she's widtdrawaling already.
I'm kind of thinking that this is in her head because in all the years of opiate use and being around opiate users, I've never seen or heard of something like this, but I may be the weird one and this may be common. Any suggestions? Is this more common than I think it is?
